Ha Ha Ha... this is quite fun, eating and pooping! Good job in making this game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, happy you had fun!

What a crappy little game. I love it!

The drag&drop makes it a bit different than if you were just clicking.

I found the early part somewhat slow until I could get a solid flow going. Can the little guys actually starve?

Developer

Haha! Thank you, I'm glad you loved it!

Yeah I didn't want it to be purely clicking so I thought drag and drop might be a good approach (but I was still pretty torn between the two mechanics).

I am aware that the game is pretty slow to start, and I'll be improving that in future updates. (Stay tuned :D)

Starving is not in the game but maybe I should add it...

Submitted(+1)

One of my favorites so far! I spent way too long playing it lol. Really nicely put together. Love a game with a sense of humor!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm honoured to be one of your favourites! I really tried on the humour for this game jam :D.

Submitted(+1)

There's some great depth to this game and I love the art style!

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you so much. Your game was fantastic as well!

Submitted(+1)

Solid tycoon type of game! I would recommend making it so they go to whatever fry or food is closer to the entity! I got distracted paying the fries out and watching him follow the trail lmao

But it was fun!

Developer(+1)

Yeah I was thinking about implementing that as an upgrade, but I ran out of time :/. I'll definitely be adding that in a future update.

Happy to hear you had fun!

Submitted(+1)

Okay, this presents itself as a goofy game about potty humor, but I recognize effort when I see it, and this is honestly one of my top picks for this jam. The pixel art, the cursor with its clean drag-drop, the mechanics, the music and sounds all come together so perfectly...to be frank, the only thing keeping me from absolutely loving everything about this game is my aversion to toilet humor, but that has nothing to do with how polished and well-crafted this is.

To be fair, I'm a sucker for idle games, and you really nailed it with the mechanics and upgrades. This has a ton of potential, fantastic job!!

Developer(+1)

Wow I'm speechless! Thank you so much for the high praise, I truly appreciate it!

When I first thought of this idea, I knew that it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea (not that anyones cup of tea would actually be remotely associated with this games content...). But it's okay that everyone has different tastes in humor!

I'm also a big sucker for idle games and I'm glad you liked it.

Submitted(+1)

I played this one for longer than I'd like to admit. Simple and a unique gameplay and I loved watching my little guys run around

Developer (1 edit)

Me too, I love it when their little feet move. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted (3 edits) (+1)

The limited palette looks really tight, loved the art!

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

I've been really trying to restrict my palette and I love how it frees me from thinking too hard about the colours I should use. I'm happy you loved the art!

Submitted(+1)

I think I did get addicted ._.

Damn that was an amazing concept. This game is just perfect x)

Developer(+1)

Usually addiction is a bad thing, but in this case... keep going! But thank you, your words mean so much to me!

Submitted(+1)

I liked the pixel art and the sounds very much, they were very satisfying. Gameplay started quite slow at first but eventually picked up. I felt collecting fries was a bit awkward, maybe because for these kinda games the only action you do is clicking and less dragging but that's just my opinion. Also noticed that you can place food outside the grid so the little guys couldn't reach the food and would get stuck for a while.

Good job!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed the art and sound!

One thing I need to work on is the balance. There's definitely some unwanted friction early game, and I'll be working on updates to make the whole game a better experience!

I was, and still am about a 60/40 split between the drag and drop mechanic vs. a classic click to feed. I'm still not sure if the drag and drop should have been solely reserved for the farming aspect but I'm always open to suggestions! If you have any, please let me know :).

I really shot myself in the foot with the timing of some personal things and also participating in a prior game jam that actually ate almost half the time of this game jam. So some things are bound to be a little janky, and I just ran out of time to add a bounding area for the manual feeding :/.

All aside, thank you so much for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I played this for far too long, and definitely pooped too close to the sun. My world was covered in poop and I wasn't collecting fast enough, lagged my game out lol. Great game.

Developer(+1)

Pooping close to the Sun is extremely dangerous!!! All jokes aside, thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it. (I'll definitely be changing upgrades in the future to make it possible to keep up with collecting all that poop!)

Submitted(+1)

I ran into a few issues early on. For example, I could grab the poop, but the hand wouldn’t release it onto the farm. Also, the little guys wouldn’t poop unless they ate carrots for some reason. I ended up going to the menu and hitting play again. My upgrade progress wasn’t reset, and weirdly, that seemed to fix the no-pooping issue. Once everything gets automated though, it turns into a fun management of an ecosystem of little guys, food, and poop. Super fun game! This might be my favorite so far.

Developer (2 edits)

Happy to hear you had fun and that it was your favourite so far!!!

Some issues with grabbing & releasing and also little guys only pooping when eating carrots seems odd to me. I've looked at my implementation, I'm not really sure why it happened. I definitely want to get that sorted out though! If possible, could you describe the situation in more detail? (you can reply here or message me on discord: boba_7)

As for the upgrade progress not resetting, that was on purpose (unfortunately I didn't get time to implement saving the actual food and poop spawns). Main reason is that I didn't want the player to accidentally return to the main menu and lose all their progress. (and I realized the in-game "menu" button is atrociously close to the volume sliders, something I'll change in the next patch).

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

You see I have 6 fries in the first image, the little guy doesn’t poop after eating any of them. He only poops after eating a carrot. I can’t quite reproduce the grabbing & releasing bug, but what happened was that I couldn’t release the hand once I dragged the poop from below, see second image.

Developer

Okay I see! Admittedly the implementation for the drag and drop is pretty janky so I'll probably refactor that whole system and in the process of doing that, hopefully figure out why it bugged out for you!

As for the little guy not pooping when eating fries, I found out that I had made a slight error in calculating the adjusted probability (probability when carrots are eaten) when the little guy had more than 0 carrots collected. This basically made it so that little guy would poop 0 poops even though the adjusted probability was above 1.

Just pushed a bug patch (v0.1.2-alpha) and the pooping issue should be resolved.

Let me know if you decide to give it another play or find any more bugs.

Cheers!

Unique concept and had fun playing , good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

nice original concept :). Good balance of things to do and upgrades etc.

Found it a bit awkward early on with the farm and hoping back to the map.

But well done on this!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

I do agree that the farm is a little awkward. I'll definitely be changing and improving that in the next update. I'm thinking of making the farming more consequential and more of an incremental mechanic rather than an idle one. Let me know if you have any suggestions you think I should explore :)

Submitted(+1)

Really cute! The art style is pretty and suits the game

Developer

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

LOL, I have no idea why I played this game and loved it so much. very addictive. It does eventually become an idle game though as everything is automated. No and then early on it would take a few clicks to pick up the poop.. but maybe i just mis clicked. Great effort and funny concept.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm delighted to hear that you loved it! I'm thinking of adding more in the future to make progression more incremental and engaging, and less idle! The miss-clicking is not your fault, I made the detection area on the poops too small :/. However, I plan on adding some small QOL features and hashing some things out once the jam ends. Thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I will never pooop the same again

Submitted(+1)

Very cool concept and nice art!

Developer(+1)

I'm not the most artistically inclined person so this is a huge complement! Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

I love this! Amazing game, really really great work :D I just finished playing Digseum on Steam a couple of weeks ago and this game perfectly scratched that same itch ! I genuinely think you could release this on Steam if you want, maybe after some minor adjustments. My game lagged out in the end but it was worth it for all that poop! (The poop sounds did get a bit much, but the fact that you have a dedicated volume slider for poop SFX is just brilliant).
Well done! :D

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm happy you enjoyed it. I'm actually a big fan of Digseum and would've never expected this comparison. To say the least I'm honored :D!

Perhaps in the future I will release it on Steam. I think the game still lacks in mechanics and I have lots planned for the future so stayed tuned!

(+1)

I played this for way longer than I’d like to admit, but I have a few nitpicks:

  1. The music doesn’t loop
  2. I wish there was more variety in fart sounds, as it gets fatiguing later in the game
  3. I wish there was some way to hold down the mouse to collect a bunch of poops in a place at once, as the repeated spam clicking got fatiguing quickly.

Overall; great game!

Developer (4 edits)

I'm glad you liked it!

- I didn't really test the music all that much, I basically took the music system I used for my last game jam, and jammed it into this game. To my knowledge the music should loop, but I guess that's a bug I'll need to fix. (Fixed this in v0.1.1-alpha!)

- Yeah I was rushing the sound pretty hard, but for future changes I think I can definitely crank up the pitch randomness or make a few sounds myself.

- I was also thinking the same thing until I realized I had no time left :(. I will add that in future changes (perhaps as an upgrade).

I already have lots planned for the future, but let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see added or changed in the game!
