Wow, that was innovative! I think you can use that basis as foundation for many different games, from multiplayer/single player shooters, brawlers, platformers... I think you got something interesting here! My biggest complaint is how rough the shooting was. The projectiles never go to where the pointer is, you have to miss the first couple of shots until you get the right angle and by then, you might be out of bullets. The bullets mechanic felt a bit out of place as well, maybe a normal reload mechanic would be better than sitting around waiting, especially when you can't aim. The yellow blob felt a bit unfair too, he was faster than the player and way too tanky, giving him invulnerability frames made it feel like everytime one spawned there was no way to avoid taking damage, you can't kill him before he gets to you. But yeah, I think you poured most of the work into making the gravity and moon jumping mechanics working. With more polish, you can create something unique out of this. Really good!

I had a lot of fun! Cool idea that you can 'jump' between moons. My only comment would be that it was sometimes hard to locate the enemies. Great effort!
Great game, charming graphics. Got a bit samey after a while, but I was never actually bored. Aiming was a bit funny (and I swear the green globs were able to shoot through the ground). Controls were nice once I got used to jumping from moon to moon; getting hit and ending up off the surface was still very disorienting, but that may be intentional!
It took me too long to realise the coloured dot next to each enemy’s icon was telling me which moon they were on. That made it a lot easier to hunt down stragglers… and also added an element of tension at the start of a new level when I saw they were on the same moon as me! Those yolgs are intimidating.
(Also, I’m pretty sure that’s the first time the letters “those yolgs are intimidating” have ever been strung together in the history of writing, so well done there.)
That was a really great game! It sucked me in and I found myself playing it for quite a while - which is always a sign of a good game! I had a lot of fun going between the different moons and trying to find the blobs. I feel like you could have a lot of fun with a multiplayer version of this (either cooperative or competitive). The mechanics were simple and very intuitive! It sometimes got hard to find the blob when there was only one left, but I guess that just sorta happens!
A game where one can have fun simply walking and jumping around, playing with the gravity and the shifting conditions when moons are added. The camera gives from time to time too narrow a view of your surroundings, but as it is (playing the "better camera" version) it's a great effort, given the not so easy problem.
Playing this at this stage I can figure the little star-blobs wiggling their legs and emoting when the player approaches, and some mechanics in shooting (the net intrigues me: you need to capture the blobs, maybe slowing down the bigger ones with toher weapons first, etc) and you have a really nice game
Your gravity simulation is so cooool and satisfying !
I spent more time at jumping between moon and trying to do some tricks like the longest or the farthest jump than at killing the enemies! ^^ Love it !
I think this can made a real good platform game.
Nice simple concept. Love the sound effects and audio design in the game. Also the blobs look really cute haha :)
I do have a few minor issues. The camera angle made it awkward. Couldn't really see what was ahead of me on the horizon, as well as making side dashing really weird. Also, sometimes I would have to search the entire level for one final enemy.
Overall a fun little game. :) Nice job
Wish the camera was further from the character. Also wish the waves were bigger and came faster, but I loved the design of moons and the idea of jumping between them.
It is an interesting concept, the idea of jumping between planets is pretty neat. The camera can get some extra work and there are some minor bugs but it can be an enjoyable experience.
Good job!
Yeah a friend of mine was talking to me about that today, could be a very fun co-op game with potentially even more than 2 people. I would probably save it for a Moon Blob 2 and polish this first but its something that will 100% happen if people show a liking to the hilariously silly blob characters haha
Super cool concept, loved jumping from planet to planet. Nice music too! As has been mentioned the camera felt off to me. Maybe if it was more zoomed out it would work better? Also enemies were quite difficult to find. I found the dash to be mostly useless as it used too much of the blue bar while I had no reason not to sprint around everywhere. Overall pretty cool, I could see this being developed further into something really awesome.
Jumping from moon to moon was really fun! The camera use was difficult at times. Someone suggested being able to see from the top and I think that would be a great addition. I'm very glad you included the planets all the blobs are on in the UI, otherwise I would probably end up getting lost for awhile. That definitely didn't happen to me for the first half of easy mode before I noticed the colored ovals....
So the concept you had was good but the camera movement didnt do it for me.
just switch that up and you are GOOOOD TO GO!!
The gameplay is amazingly fun, jumping on planets and shooting little enemies was too enjoyable for me. Galaxy was beautiful and I think this game would be best for VR.
On the other hand, camera position wasn't comfortable for me, it would have been better if I could see from top. Also adding some more powerups would make game more interesting. Nice game <3
Glad you enjoyed it! I didn't think about VR but that could be super fun to make!
Yep a few people have mentioned camera adjusting will definitely be adding that in a cleaned up later build. As for powerups, the game is balanced around no upgrades right now but a great plan for "Moon Blob 2" ;) haha - Perhaps with levels, waves, upgrades, skill trees etc. I'm thinking something like what Gemcraft did with their games.
Thanks for playing!
Cool game rly impressed by the physics. Left my comment for you on my thread you posted on: https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2020/topic/1090456/send-ur-game-ill-play-them-all#p...
Hello everyone,
I attempted to upload a Mac and Linux version of the game since the forum thread here said that was fine to do.
However, when trying to upload them, itch.io actually deleted the zip file I had for the windows version which was submitted on time (8 hours and 8 minutes before the deadline on December 1st). My apologies for this.
Apparently when using the "upload files" button, you need to upload all files at once or else itch.io will overwrite them. I was not aware of this, the uploaded windows zip is the exact same game as before, and the Mac and Linux versions are copies for the respective operating system.
EDIT: This happened again when trying to upload a web build because people said it was easier to play that way (removed because had issues with resolution). Apparently you cannot have 2 files with the same name in this case the issue was the "Moon Blob.zip" name.
EDIT 2: Some people were saying the camera was making it impossible to play the game =( So I uploaded a version with an adjustable camera "Moon Blob - (Better Camera).zip". The original game is still up as Moon Blob.zip
Cool! I detect some Mario Galaxy influence? :) UI is beautifully done. Only thing I noticed is the mouse sensitivity seemed considerably too sensitive to me. Might be hardware variations, might be a non-issue w/ a gaming mouse, but I felt I could have used a slow rotate instead of a fast rotate. Good job!
