This is a sticky thread to share your progress throughout the jam.  You can also use the hashtag #FFSjam on Twitter, or share in the Progress channel of the jam Discord (invite link is HERE).
Feel free to post screenshots and videos of your progress once you get going, or even post what you have now as a starting point.
If you're not sure how to host music, videos or images then you best bets are probably:
YouTube for videos, Imgur for pictures and SoundCloud for audio.

So, if I get it right, we can post our progress thought this thread :)

Well, since I'm better with VGM composition than game development, I set up my resolution for 2020: to be more focused on music composition. I have a audio asset pack in my itch page which is paid but incomplete, so I will take the jam as an opportunity to finish it and maybe start a new one!

Before the jam, there were 8 track on the pack, I plan to make a pack of 15. I am actually doing one track per day since the January 1st. That make an actual total of 12 tracks. Here is the track of yesterday :

Of course, the video shows the non-loopable version. This is for listening purposes only.

I know I should use SoundCloud, but I don't approve this website since they tried to revamp it. So I went back on YouTube.

So my project(s) will be audio tracks!

By the way, if a team of someone wants customized tracks for their projects, feel free to contact me. I can do 8bit and 16bits MegaDrive packs right now. :)

Good luck to everyone!

I love the track, sounds pretty much like a boss fight for me :) is it?

Cheers
Dom

Hi Ink Kit! I was actually thinking on a level theme for a beat'em up, but it could also fit well for a boss! Thanks for the appreciation, glad you like it! :)

I'll use this opportunity to finish my pico8 game,  called Tennis8.

I've been working on it for the last few months but it had been hard to find the time do the last adjustments (add music,  sfx, fix some bugs and add a carrer mode). Meanwhile I have a new project in my head that i do not want to start before finishing this one. Maybe this is the push I need!

This is what I got so far:

This Looks amazing!

Oh looks nice :D
Do you have a demo to playtest? :)

Submitted(+1)

yes! A demo has been released!

Submitted

Ooooh, this looks fun! You did a great job, especially considering the limitations of Pico-8!

Submitted

I am finishing up the textures and music for the main game. Now all I have left is the Menu.

I finished my music pack! 15 tracks. Since this is a paid pack, I made a demo with the 4 first tracks. Anyways, I can generate a key for the ranking purpose!

Off I'll try to make a small rogue-like as a second submission, but I don't think I will finish it in time.

Right....well as I said in the "thoughts about your game" section, I've really been wanting to do this concept for some time and I got a prototype working in 3-4 days. Unfortunately there isn't any music or sound effects yet (mostly cus I suck at making them XD). Probably in a later update......

you can play the browser version here:

This is a fun little game. If you still need music I'd be more than happy to make something to loop in the background.

Submitted(+1)

Thank you but I'm currently trying to learn and do certain things by myself ( like making music )

Thank you for the offer though 馃憤

Submitted

I totally get that. Let me know if you need any tips

So i've submitted my game to "Finally finish" game jam and... yeah... there is still lot of work...
But this is for now the best I can do / finish.

First 5 levels are done.
I have a plan to implement more types of platforms, obstacles, enemies...
Also there is space for more visual / sound effects and so...

You can play in the browser:

Good luck to finish all levels :)

Hi.

I'm making my first game, a twin stick shooter called "A Weird Legacy of War".

To play it, just go to the game page using your PC browser.

There is just a few text info in the game. For this moment, it's interface is in portuguese, my native language, but I will translate it to english very soon.

Love the music, and the creatures are absolutely terrifying

I'm making a horror game and I've drafted the entirety of the game itself. However, I'm still working on warnings and other supplemental content -- trying to balance spoilers and making sure people know what they're getting into. It's tricky but I'll manage.

If anybody here wants to be messed up by a tiny text based horror game, less than half a meg, I'm looking for playtesters -- I've been working on it for so long that I've stopped really seeing it.

Submitted

I'll playtest it!

I don't really know how to contact people on this site, is there a private message thing or something?

Submitted

I have no idea but I will find out! Do you have an email?

(email removed) -- reply to this and I'll remove my email so other people don't get it

Hi! I am only a high school student but I hope I am still allowed to join! I've been working on a game for a couple years but recently scrapped everything and started over with a different software, and I have finally reached a point where I nearly finished the prologue for it! I've been lazy with working, or too busy with school to work, but I am proud of myself for what I have done so far! All I have to do is add a couple more music tracks, sound effects, quest menu and one more cutscene!

Hello, it's me again! I am making a rogue-like ~

Long story short : chiptunes, catgirls and weapons!

I just finished to code the core of the procgen, I can add some stuff and mechanics now!

Have a preview of the prototype ~

Hello all! I've joined up to finish a game called Zookoban that's been sitting three-quarters-or-so finished on my hard drive for many months.

It's an animal-themed 2d puzzler. On each level you control a bunch of animals trying to escape a zoo, and each type of animal has different skills - monkeys can climb trees, beavers can build dams across water, giraffes can stretch their necks across obstacles to make  a bridge for smaller animals, etc.

The mechanics are finished, but I need to make a bunch more levels and tweak the interface.

Here's a trailer I made last year:

awww this looks so sweet!

This is a totally unedited screenshot from my new top-down, Zelda style survival game, called (drumroll please) ... Pixel Survival! (yea it rolls rite off the tung i kno). I will submit it soon and hope to maybe get the W!

My game "Moon" is lacking a clear goal. So if you have some ideas please let me know. Maybe exploring the moon is enough?

Submitted

find and confront the aliens? collect a sample of moon dust from each of the terrain types on the moon? find the spaceship that will take you home, which you lost at the beginning of the game? survive until another spaceship can come pick you up from earth?

it depends on the genre, but there's plenty you can do to give your audience a satisfying ending

Submitted

Thanks, great ideas! Will try one or the other.

I started a game for one of the Metroidvania game jams that uses dynamic lighting and normal maps on 2D pixel art surfaces.  I ran into a problem where the engine I was using didn't pass of the normal maps correctly when going from the tilemaps to the sprite atlas occasionally and rather than fix it I just gave up.  I recently read that my problem was fixed in one of the latest releases so I'm going to revisit it and see what I can do.

Think I got the art style down for level 4 of my platforming game.

Hello!

We're an indie game developer team called Magical Dog Entertainment, and we're creating a game called Curse of the Cowboy.

We started to create it in August 19, but we had some troubles with the development and we stopped it for a while. We're trying to finish at least a demo for it, and we found that this jam would be an excellent fuel to us to finish the demo.

Here is a video of a gameplay of the game:

The game was created for a low resolution jam, which we had to create a game with a resolution of 64x64. After that jam, we decided to increase the resolution to 128x128.

There are still some bugs to solve, and other things like SFXs, music and level design to take care of.  This Jam is really helping us moving foward, and we're very grateful.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone who is still developing! /o/

Just finished my game!

Been working on a small game about gun safety in a playful but topically dark way.
It's played by clicking on the highlighted weapon buttons, levers, and actions - but the trick is that all functionality has been swapped.

Even if you know how these weapons work, that won't help you out! Check it out and let me know if you've enjoyed it!

Appreciate the opportunity to warp up this project and get it out!

I can't believe I managed to get to the finish line, but here's mine; a small collection of gadgets packaged in a small cozy apartment.

It barely qualifies as "finished", but it works, doesn't have any major bugs, and I intend on continuing it in the near future.

I was able to finish my game and get it launched on Steam Early access this month!

We just finished and released AST-Hero. A space shooter with asteroids-like behaviours.

It took us a couple of months developing and hope you like it!

Check it out and let me know what you think please ;)

That was a fun jam. I'm planning on adding more game mechanics, a few game modes and fix some bugs. Please let me know what you think, I'm open to suggestions.  Here's my entry:  https://itch.io/jam/finally-finish-something-2020/rate/561471
