The gameplay has promise! The difficulty is, I'm not sure the level is designed with beginners in mind, and the camera is not ideal for planning out a route ahead of time. Other games with a similar movement mechanic, such as Tribes, Midair, or Haste: Broken Worlds give the player a wide view of the environment, and frequently allow them to gain height to breathe and plan out their path. With this game, however, the view is very narrow, and you don't often gain a lot of height, which makes getting a lay of the land very difficult.
This idea has a lot of potential! If you decide to develop it going forward, I'd recommend really tuning your level design and camera, and adding a bit of a gentler learning curve.
I haven't figured out the controls, but the design is interesting.
I'm not sure why the preservation of speed is not toggled by default, it feels like one more rule to explain to the player that doesn't really change anything. Also, I'm not completely sure what the goal is.
Except for those 2 pain points, I think the visuals are interesting and that the controls work well enough!
Good job!
That was fun! The environment has a very cool aesthetic and I like the color choices. It feels good to navigate the hills and turns when you get a lot of speed going. Well done!
Thank you! :))
Very fun, although the alternate paths give it replayability, it felt a bit short to me.
Also, a little music would have been great!
Still, the game is fun, the art is very nice, and the character control is very good.
Great job! :D
Thank you for your feedback!! Unfortunately our composer left the project in the middle of the week, so that's why we got no music 😓
We're happy you enjoyed playing!!
Such a fun game! I also like the visuals a lot and snowboarding is just awesome. Great entry!
Thank you!! :)
Great game! The only downside is that Ctrl+D saves the tab to favourites in Chrome, so my playthrough was interrupted several times at first, but overall it’s so much fun and feels good to play.
Thank you so much!! And yeah the key binds choices were unfortunate lol... Happy you enjoyed it!!
Thank you! Thank you for bringing back the vibes and super fun gameplay of the 90´s flash snowboarding games I used to play after school in the tech lab hehehe <3 This was a pure nostalgia hit for me, absolutely loved it.
Hello! Congrats on this work! I was really impressed by the world-building / Visuals in this game, it’s really clean and smooth. The gameplay is easy to pick up, and once I figured out how to gain speed, I had a lot of fun. It fits the jam’s theme 100%.
As a minor improvement, maybe adding a line at the beginning of the game to indicate the crouch key (CTRL for me) could help players go faster more easily.
Once again, great job!
Agree!
A mini tutorial was definitely needed lol... But still thank you so much for your words!! As part of the Art team it's a pleasure to read about appreciation for that side of the game too :))
The visuals are quite stunning! Sometimes, I lose speed for seemingly no reason, and I did have a bit of trouble with the controls as I kept closing the tab by accident (which happens in my game, too, haha), but overall, it is quite fun and satisfying especially when you hit the ground at the right angle and gain a massive boost. Nice job! :)
Thank you so much for your kind words and your feedback!!
WOW, big fan of the graphics! also a very enjoyable game :) Although I did struggle with the controls at the start but I believe that was a skill issue.
Thank you!! Not a skill issue, every experience is different, what matters is that in the end you got the hang of it :D (a tutorial from our side could've helped too lol)
I really enjoyed the game, a little bit of SFX would be the cherry on top. Good game.
Cheers!
Fun game, would be nice to have more speed, I think if you spam the jump you do move a bit faster which is nice. Also beautiful world
nevermind, I missed the main mechanic of the game :D
Glad to see that you found the way to build and maintain speed :)
The idea is really good, I liked how it feels but it's a little hard to keep the momentum
Have you tried using the hopping technique as described in the description of the game? Its a good way to keep momentum
It's a cool game, very cool idea, it's a little frustrating by moment, maybe some tweaks to the player controller like rotation of the model to adapt to the slopes to give more feedback to the player would be a great addition, but definitely a good game idea for speedruning. Good work !
Thank you!! Your game is very fun btw, even though i suck at it (i already can't drive irl, imagine with 20 gears)
really fun, and sick visuals. maybe a few sound effects and tweaking of the controls, and it could become a great game
Thank you for your feedback!!
It is very satisfying surfing downhill! Very hard to keep up that momentum, but when you do, you can go zooming across the map. Cool cool!
Thank you!! :))
Nice sense of speed once you get going but I agree with Veras Studios, the map was a little congested. Nice work though!
Thanks for the feedback :))
I liked the idea but I felt like the map was a little too congested to feel like I could ever go really fast. And I wish there was like a personal leaderboard of some sort. But I think it looked good :)
Good point on the leaderboard... Thank you for your feedback!!
nice game! i really liked the first person POV made me really feel the moment!
Thank you! :))
