A great looking 2d side scroller platform game.

I love the aesthetic of this game. The colors and the post processing is fantastic.

The game itself is fun and challenging.  I'd love to get my hands on a standalone build and be able to use a controller input. I can see myself playing this game a lot with controller input available. My only critique is the difficulty level ramps up quick... it would be nice to have a little more subtle ramp up.... maybe have a few simple obstacles and jumps to start off each level and then ramp up the difficulty as the level gets closer to the end.

Really super fun game, can't find a fault with it the introduction to the story, what to do and how to play and the learning curve is very well thought out, 5's all round from me, great job!

Nes art style with a modern day 2D platformer!

Fun:

The overall fun of the game was solid. The keyboard and mouse controls were a little tough for me personally which took away from some of the fun, but the platforming was tight and responsive, the special abilities worked well, and the overall gameplay loop was entertaining all the way to the end.

Innovation/Theme:

This is tough, since it honestly felt like another platformer, granted this platformer was a very well executed experience, but everything in has been seen before. Where your innovation came thru was the theme. collecting pieces of yourself to regain your abilities was a strong concept for the jam and you did it very well here!

Graphics/Audio: 

These two areas done with a very well guided mind. Everything meshed together,  the game truly felt "JUICY" lol The art style was great and reminiscent of micro mages on the NES. Overall, fantastic in these catagories!

Game Design:

This game is a really good contender for the most complete package experience. The coordination of audio, visuals and tight gameplay makes for a great experience!

This was an interesting play through, the spike jump near the end got me a bunch but the game controlled well, the music didn't get repetitive (especially since it didn't restart) and the mechanics were interesting.  More abilities would definitely be cool, but even with the few in it's an interesting set.  A few finer points though:

  • The player seemed a little hard to find.  Specifically I think it was either the size or the color, or maybe just the fact the player is off screen in the first screen.  But something out of those made it feel a little hard to find the player.
  • Your range with the projectiles felt a bit short, especially in comparison to the fact that the turrets had heat seeking versions.  So maybe slightly increasing it could help?  Since you're supposed to be getting the souls of great sorcerers and it felt a bit weak for that.
  • Health was bit unclear.  Since the icon and the location made me think more of a lives indicator and less of a health bar.  So maybe tweaking that, either location wise, or the way it's laid out.  Something.  Maybe multiple hearts, an actual bar etc. up to you.  

Overall though, first platformer, best platformer and a really good setup for giving the player a bunch of weird and cool abilities.  With a nice art style to boot.

Nice! The jump height could be increased a bit. I was missing many jumps because the ledge was just a few pixels higher than my jump and I had to retry the jumps especially the first jump in the first level and the second level.

The graphics and the music is great! I also like the art style!

Really nice game, the animations and graphic are really cute. I would be nice if the music would loop so you can't hear when it's starts playing again, as in my opinion it would suite your game more. But I really like your game as it is, and I spend about 30 min playing it.

It was well programmed. very solid platformer except the part where player will get bugged at the edge of platform (I guess the ground check didn't check for edge of character)

Game mechanic is common but the decent level design made it pop out!

Also I like the fact the game give you really good amount of reaction make you feel your action does have impact in this little cute retro world. It really feels good!
