The game was pretty interesting!

The style choice of merging 2D plus 3D was pretty interesting and it was cool to see it in action.

The game itself did feel a little slow, I know it's a tower defense game but I'd suggest raising the game speed or adding a speed up button like from bloons tower defense.

The camera was also very weird, maybe it's my mouse sensitivity but the sensitivity on the camera was way too high.

Overall it was really interesting, good job!

Developer

The sensitivty is somehow faster on bigger resolution, I will definitly overwork the camera in the next days.

I can add a speedup button, i had one at some point but removed it because the game is already not that long... I may add it back in the next version.

I really lost my mind with the tower defenses games and the art 3D with pixel art 2D, drives me crazy.

i really enjoyed played this game, well done!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting style choice, mixing pixel art with 3d rendered graphics, I kinda dig it though. The gameplay is fun, camera is pretty wonky.

Developer(+1)

Everyone says that with the camera >.< I know the thing i will fix next is definitly the camera.

Submitted(+1)

This is the first tower defense game we´ve seen in this jam. It is executed quite well too. The camera needs some polish though. We really liked the 2d sprites on the 3D background and your characters are charming, especially Oggi :)

Developer

The camera sadly was one of the last minute things that were added, and I see how it turned out :|
But there already happend much bugfixing and some polishing which I will upload tomorrow after the rating period ended :D
Also there is some content still waiting to be fixed and added. (like placing spells or new monsters (not just towers))

Nice concept, combining tower defence with RTS elements. The controls are a bit rough though, need to adjust the sensitivity a little bit. Also I assume some of the art is just placeholders right? some sprites look a bit out of place

Also, is it intentional that you can lose by letting only 1 monster through?

Developer

Oh thats not intentional, if its not the boss enemy. (day 4, in the post jam moved to day 7 and the days 2-6 last much monger)
The boss appears a bit short sadly because some things were just added last minute,
The pixel art characters are not place holders, the only place holders i have in my head right now are the selection rings. But maybe im forgetting something ^^

The sensivity of the mouse somehow depends on the resolution (higher resulotion = faster) I need to look into this definitly, thats one of the bugs i have not fixed yet.

I'm playing on 1440p, that might explain it ;) I just thought that the sprites look a bit too bright and colorful compared to the enviroment

Developer

Oh that makes sense,
they are normal sprites and not affected by light, im planning on switching to quads or to look into sprite shaders so they are affected by light and the enviroment, also maybe i will give them some depth.
I totally agree that they look a bit out of place.

The concept is very interesting, instead of tower defense, this game is more like a real-time strategy! I like how you make these shortcuts to command the monsters. The only problem you might want to fix is the camera control. Adding constraints to the camera angle might help. I will be looking forward to playing more levels and experiencing more real-time strategy elements if you were going to make a post-jam version. Good job!

Developer

Post jam version is already in work, but still with more bugfixes and more simple mechanics, an bit longer wave system etc... currently no new levels planned but some more things to do are. (also spells, placing other monsters etc...)

Took me several tries, but manage to defend the well!

I used to love tower defense a few years ago. So it was nice to play one in the jam.
The visuals are really impressive. And very nice music and Sfx.

There are some things that I didn't like it.

- The camera movement with the mouse is not intuitive at all.
- Very few rounds to play with the new turrets
- The skip button on the dialogs doesn't work.

If you fix those issues, I think the game has potential for growing into some larger project.

Great work! Congratulations!

Cool game! Very polished for the amount of time given. The monsters could be better integrated into the theme by giving them some more special abilities.

Developer

Special abilitys were planned but I didnt had enough time because i had issues working in the first days of the jam ^^
still planned.

The visuals and the music is good. There was not much into the gameplay, but it was a okay little tower defense game.

Good Game!

Submitted

Very nice game.

Had a rough time understanding how to play unfortunately.

Still good overall once I got a good grasp on it :D

Interesting game.

Wish there was some instructions as I was stumbling around for a bit trying to understand how to play. But was not too bad as the mechanics were similar to tower based defense games.

I was confused what is the purpose of the monsters, I was able to move them around and block the enemy path but was not sure if they did anything else,

Developer

They attack or heal.
the blue one is a tank, the red one is a damage dealer and the green one is a healer.

Yes for the after jam versions i will definitly do a ingame tutorial, thanks for the feedback!

the 2d sprites in the 3d space was a cool style, the characters seem cool but I'm not sure if there's a way to control them. The camera controls are a little wonky but not too bad.

Developer

yes you can controll them, sadly we didnt have the time to include a small ingame tutorial.

I wrote this on the game side:

Right Mouse Click: Move Selected Monster to mouse position
1,2,3 or clicking on the icons of the monster on the right: Select Monster
Q: Previous Monster
E: Next Monster
F: Deselect all monsters

I definitly need to make a better camera controll system. ^^ Imma write this up there on my todo list. thanks for the feedback! :)

Characters were cool I really like their design, sadly tower defence is not my favourite genre. I tried couple of times but I still die on the day when a single powerful enemy appear. I had funny bug where He walked through oogi once.

Developer(+1)

The last minute balancing wasnt the best we did >.< I wanted to keep it easy even for people who have never played tower defense before but the boss was a bit too though.

I already fixed this bug I dont even know how it ended up in the game but i guess thats game jam >.<

Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

Things like that are easy to slip out during the jam, don't street about it too much ;)

The controls were a bit wonky and not all that intuitive, but I really liked the music and overall concept. The 2D on 3D is something I haven't seen before and part of me likes it but part of me hates it. I know that's probably not helpful! Some music in the beginning during all the text would be a nice addition. It's good as is, but I think with some fine tuning it could be great.

Love the visual style and story! Wish there were a few QOL tweaks like a better camera control and pause/quit button. great work!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you!
The camera controller was a thing I (the programmer) forgot and added in the last hour :x
There is actually a pause menu when you click P or Escape.

There will be definitly a post jam update with bug fixes, quality of life changes and a bit more challenge/content. (Its already a work in progress)

edit: well seems like i forgot to inverse a bool for the pause menu. oopsie :D
