Hey!

Sorry for the late reply, I've also been busy with other work but I really appreciate your in-depth comment and review!

On the topic of level design, I had to cram in every single level around the last hours I had working on the jam. Due to this, a lot of the middle levels were especially rushed as I just needed levels/content for the game. Thus I resorted to making those areas a lot harder than they should've been.

If I spent more time on the level design, I would've 100% geared the game towards more puzzles like the last level. It especially sucks to see in hindsight as most people generally quit playing after the platforming bits due to the difficulty, and don't get to see the last puzzles.

As for the features and mechanics that got cut, I've actually forgotten a lot of what was originally planned since it's been a while. There was this main concept of electricity puzzles, mechanics letting you chain currents together to complete circuits and power objects. Even the idea of a robot-type character that could aid in the electricity mechanics.

On top of that, there was also the idea for enemies in the game, which only a specific fighter character could kill with a weapon. Even small quality of life features like a character selection wheel to make switching less of a hassle.

Honestly, a lot could be added upon and improved in this game. For example, the voice dialogue/banter between each character you mentioned was a great idea.

Thanks again for going out of your way to leave a review/comment, I'm honestly surprised this game is still getting minor traction.

;)

This game is so polished! Spent a lot more time playing than I expected lmao. Great job guys.

Thanks for playing the game Sola!

I'll be sure to make sure controls are a bit more clear next time, since a few other playtesters were saying similar things.

Thanks for playing my game on your stream!

It was a bit hard to hear you since the game audio was a bit loud, but it's good to hear that you enjoyed the game.

Sorry about the music cutting out around 2 minutes in, I forgot to fully loop the in-game music before exporting, so it just always stops around there, I'll probably fix that in a post-jam update.

You mentioned a boss or something being cool, and I already have a few ideas for bosses and new enemies if I do update this game. So if an update does come I'll be sure to add those plus some balancing changes, since I also noticed most people can just infinitely reincarnate with no difficulty, and also probably add a bigger new map.

Around the end, I think I heard you asking if the art was original or not? Everything in the game other than sound effects and the font were made from scratch by myself during the jam, just to clear things up.

There's two types of humans you can take over in the game.

The light guard with a rifle should be able to outrun any of the enemies easily, while the bigger heavy guard with an lmg moves a lot slower because he's just a lot tankier, and has way more DPS with the lmg.

Honestly though I think I could've made the ai a bit slower, and also get a bigger map so you don't just run into the enemies right after you outrun them.

Anyways thanks for the kind words and the detailed comment.

(1 edit)

Sorry to hear the camera shake was a bit too aggressive. I had to increase it a fair amount last second since it personally felt a little weak before, but probably should've kept it a little toned down.

Thanks for taking the time to write a comment.

This game was pretty fun and looked great too!

It was fun to just go around and beat everything into a pulp and grind exp to level up.

The game itself did feel a little buggy, like enemies moving around and attacking weird, enemies spawning outside the map or getting stuck, or the fact that I'd lose all my stats on death but still keep the same level and enemy difficulty.

Overall though the game was a fun little beat em up, good work!

This game was awesome!

First of all, the soundtrack is amazing and fits super well with the setting, like I genuinely love it. The whole monologue stuff too is done well and looks great. On top of that, the sprite designs themselves look good too, and just give the whole game a really nice retro vibe alongside the audio.

While the combat and movement in the game did feel a little clunky and slow, the main mechanic of becoming the monsters that kill you was really fun to mess around with and fit the theme well.

Overall, this game was well done and pretty fun to play.

This game was surprisingly fun and made use of a cool mechanic!

I honestly had a fairly fun time scrambling to piece together bodies and such as fast as I could, and the fact that the bodies would jump up into life was a nice touch too.

The game is missing just a little bit of depth though, which makes it feel a bit empty, and also a little hard to tell when you're about to run out of time and get a game over screen.

Overall though it was a pretty fun game and has a good amount of potential, so good job!

This game was well done and had great mechanics!

The artstyle was super good, especially loved the color palette used here.

Game design and mechanics wise too, this game just had a fitting and interesting mechanic, while also having great puzzles.

Overall, this game was awesome and pretty fun to play through.

This game has a cool concept and looks great!

The 3d models and whole artstyle looks pretty good, I especially like how the hand is animated.

The game felt a little buggy, like minions not attacking villagers sometimes, villagers acting weird, or just being a little clunky in general. I also wish the game was a bit more difficult, got like 10 minutes in and still didn't feel a huge sense of challenge or even many villagers spawning.

Overall though, the game was pretty fun and looked great, so good job!

This game was pretty addicting and just fun in general to play!

The gameplay of having to explore all 5 biomes in the game to unlock and collect new resources, and then coming back and upgrading your stuff was cool.

Some of the graphics/art weren't super consistent, like some sprites being higher res than others, some being shaded a little differently, or some having harder or softer outlines, in game fonts not staying the same style, but overall it was pretty nice.

There were also a few bugs I encountered, like my first playthrough having an infinite cutscene bug, or just being able to skip the games progression and instantly repair the ship even though I didn't have the required materials.

Overall, the game was a nice experience, and I spent way more time than expected trying to collect as many resources as I could lmao.

I absolutely loved the artwork for this game! Really nice aesthetic imo and also uses good contrast between the player and the world.

The whole unlocking abilities and such as you progress really gave off a cool metroidvania esque vibe, which was really cool to see, and the dash mechanic was a nice feature.

Although the game didn't have a super apparent rebirth twist, it's understandable that you guys had to cut some parts out due to time.

Overall it was a nice game! Wish there was a bit more to play because it was pretty fun.

That's like exactly what I was going for!

And yeah I realized that it gets way too easy to revive later as the humans, since they spawn so much, I was able to get a score of 1 million before dying on purpose.

If I do update this game, I for sure wanna look into balancing the mid-end game again so it stays progressively hard, since I had to rush the balancing pretty last minute.

Thank you! I'm honestly debating whether to update the game or not, especially since there's so many more cool ideas I had for mechanics and content, but I'll see.

I was honestly taking a lot of inspiration from the likes of Enter the Gungeon, but nuclear throne is also cool.

Also there was supposed to be a mechanic in the game to consume humans for health, where you'd like grab them and bite their head off, but I had to scrap it due to time, might add it if I update the game honestly.

Yeah that's what I was trying to kinda go for when making the enemies wander every time you die, nobody wants their head popped off next lmao.

The text not being super readable was an issue I noticed too, but unity was acting a little weird and it made adding a good outline hard, so I had to leave it as is to save time.

Thank you!

Ok guys, I think that's all the submissions I have time to rate for, it's been really fun playing everyone's games!

Played and rated! Though I don't have time to include feedback, sorry.

The game was really good and polished in general, and I especially loved the artstyle.

The movement was also great, and had of polish, it was super fun to just dash around and stuff.

There's also just a bunch of smaller things that just add a bunch to the game, like the well designed gui, or the level complete screen with the stars and stats.

One minor nitpick I have about the game would probably be the controls, mainly the jump being mapped to Z, but that's just a really small nitpick.

Overall, great game with a lot of polish, well done!

This game was pretty fun!

The art style of the game was pretty cool, though the metallic material you used for some of the models like the knights were heavily shaded and just pretty different in comparison to the more flat/toon ish materials on the trees or skeleton.

Also the combat imo was fun, though unlocking the allies did make it really really easy.

The dragon at the end of the game was also especially easy, not sure why but they never breathed fire like in the screenshots and kinda just didn't attack at all, though I think it moved it's legs a little? It died super fast too because of all the allies.

Anyways this game was fun, and really nice for a jam game, good job!

The game was pretty good!

The sprites and some of the animations were pretty cool.

Movement in the game felt a little sluggish and even a bit floaty at times.

The power ups/allies felt really useless to be honest, the player could already double jump from the start (most likely a bug?), so the double jump power up didn't change anything, and I didn't really noticed what the rocket boots did, but I was still able to beat the level anyways.

Anyways, cool game and well done!

Just had a playthrough and the game was pretty cool and unique!

The mechanic with the with the two characters was pretty cool.

As others have said, the jump with Freddy wasn't too well since they were just teleporting.

The camera for the game was pretty interesting, but it got a little annoying in some areas, like in the sewers, where I was also finding a lot of weird invisible walls.

Anyways, good job on the jam game!

This game was pretty fun!

Like others have said, this concept is really good.

There's a few things holding this game back though, one would be the movement. The player accelerates a bit fast and doesn't seem to cap off at all, making it really hard to control when you're moving for a small ish amount of time, and while you start moving you're really slow and sluggish. The movement overall just felt really sluggish and floaty.

Anyways, the game itself was cool, and the gameplay mechanic was great, well done!

Just had a playthrough and the game was pretty good!

Really liked the lighting and bloom in the game, they were pretty well done.

The camera for the player did seem a little annoying to control though, usually I like to manually control the camera myself in any game I play, and when I tried to do that while moving the camera would always try to fight back, it was a little annoying.

Also on the last level I was able to clip through some walls as the third dude while they were floating and kinda cheese the puzzle, so that was interesting.

Overall, this was a pretty well done game, good job!

The game was really  charming and was pretty well made!

The black and white art style was really good, just loved the whole simplistic and kinda chill vibe.

One annoying issue with the game was how you could kinda soft lock the level and would be forced to restart every time you forget to move the food to the next area, it was pretty annoying having to reset all the time, though I saw other people have mentioned it and you working on that.

I also found a bug on my second restart of the game, where I clipped through the first area as I was trying to exit, and got out of bounds. Not sure exactly how I was able to do it but thought I should probably let you know lol.

Anyways, good job on the game!

The game was pretty interesting!

The style choice of merging 2D plus 3D was pretty interesting and it was cool to see it in action.

The game itself did feel a little slow, I know it's a tower defense game but I'd suggest raising the game speed or adding a speed up button like from bloons tower defense.

The camera was also very weird, maybe it's my mouse sensitivity but the sensitivity on the camera was way too high.

Overall it was really interesting, good job!
