In what way does your game fit the theme?
You gain your robot friends powers when you find them, with their powers, you are stronger!

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made all of the assets, except for the background in level 1, that was a paid asset that I modified.
ejikerichard did the majority of the code.

The game was pretty good!

The sprites and some of the animations were pretty cool.

Movement in the game felt a little sluggish and even a bit floaty at times.

The power ups/allies felt really useless to be honest, the player could already double jump from the start (most likely a bug?), so the double jump power up didn't change anything, and I didn't really noticed what the rocket boots did, but I was still able to beat the level anyways.

Anyways, cool game and well done!

Nice game. Really liked the graphic and music. The change of music between levels was great! The Gameplay is not very innovative but is changed nicely to fit the theme. The controls need some polish in my opinion. for example the character sticks to walls sometimes and can't jump.

Nice game, I really liked the upgrade mechanic. I got to the second level, the jump seemed a bit finnicky where sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldnt. My only suggestions would be to add a checkpoint system and maybe coyote time (if you havent already).

Nice game! Well designed levels. Although a "where to go" tip would be nice.
Love the Idle animation! Reminds me to the little guy in Boulder Dash on C64.

I found some issues I thing maybe other had already pointed out:
- The fall animation when you have the Rocket Boots update, has a missing frame
- There are issues with the background tiles. Sometimes everything change or got glitchy.
- Avoiding friction when hitting the side of a platform would be nice.

But the game is nice, fun to play and explore the levels. Hope you made to the 20 before the end of the jam.

Great work. Congratulations!

Very nice graphics and sound! One thing I noticed was that the way the falling was coded, You can stand on the very edge of a platform and you will continue to gather downward force so when you eventually get off it'll Be insanely fast. Other than that, this was a well made game! Good work!

Cool game!

As already mentioned by others, the character controller needs to be polished. The biggest strengths of the game are the backgrounds :)

Good job with the art and music, I really hate spikes now, even more than before somehow.
maybe instead of letting the player instalty fall back after stop pressing the spacebar the velocity could just be lowered or something? maybe divided by 2. because it feels a bit heavy.
also i got stuck when i jumped on the wall. I imagine this game to be extremly fun with an polished character controller :d hope i can see this after the jam :D

Developer

Thanks! I intend to go back to this and polish up the gameplay after the jam.. or maybe just scrap it and rebuild it from scratch in godot. Either way, there will be a polished version eventually.

I liked the music, the graphics look decent too. Movement feels a bit annoying though, especially when you hit the ceiling with your head, and the jumping sound is a bit too loud. Also, maybe add some on death animations instead of just restarting the scene instantly

The graphics are pretty polished, the animations are cute and the music is a vibe, but the movement feels a little heavy. Sfx for winning and losing, killing enemies, getting powers and batteries would make the game pop more. The theme is not very obvious for me, but other than that, it's a good game.

Pretty fun game, each power really makes a difference. Only thing is that I was wandering a lot through the levels with no way to know if I was going the right direction. Some jumps are also blind, you only see a gap and hope that there is something other than spikes waiting on the other side or below. The art is really nice and sets a good atmosphere together with the music, really well done! The idle animation is more blurred out, which is probably not intentional. Overall, really well made game!

Nice polished platformer. Like the way you collect your powers.

I know it is a game jam and we are limited in time but I think making sure there is nice animation when you finish the level and not just switch to next scene would be great. I struggled with that myself in my Yin & Yang game but created a delay and animation when level is finished => players actually find it satisfactory which is great.

The game is great and the concept for it is well executed however I only found one bug which is that you don't always die if you touch the spikes especially if your are spamming space but apart from that well done

The robots are very cool, and the level design is well done. I think that if you worked a little better on polish and in your collisions, this could be a pretty interesting game! Good job!

Lovely artwork, I really like the robots :) For me the jumping sound felt way louder than the other ones but beside that a great game, I had fun playing it! Very well done and thanks for sharing it :)

I find your game really correct for a game jam! Indeed, the level design is really nice (strong point of the game). The movements of the avatar are fluid and the double jump is really interesting.

Good job.

Game made me think of the old gameboy platformers. Liked the art-style, jumping could use some work. Missing the theme a bit, gathering upgrades feels like just that, a classic upgrade.

keep it up!

Yeah I agree, the intention was for the robot to merge with the robot friends, but we couldn't get it to work in time. I think I may try to remake this at a later date with my original vision solo dev style.

A simple time friendly trick would be to just "brute force" it, by creating pre-made sprites with the possible combinations. check which parts you have picked up and then load the proper sprite.

If you have a lot of time, you could write a procedural sprite system in which each component could be swapped out.

Keep up the good work.

Was pretty fun to play! For feedback, jump is little bit too snappy.
