Surprisingly intense
-
Some of the food looks quite similar which makes them hard to distinguish (potatoes and bread specifically)
-
This is very rage inducing
-
I don’t think this strategy should be viable (spam clicking the same item): https://gyazo.com/25487546e6831bc42affb871b149623f

In what way does your game fit the theme?
Eat Your Five is a game about eating all kind of foods every day makes us stronger.
I believe some of you may have experience getting unhealthier because you overlooked nutrition for a period of time. So have I.
The healthier, the stronger. In this game, players will try to stay healthy for a week by eating the Big Five every day which includes 2 types of vegetables, 1 type of carbs, 1 type of fruits, and 1 type of proteins.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
All the code, art, and music are made from scratch by myself.
SFX are all under CC0 license and been re-edited.

Thanks for the feedback!
1. Definitely gonna redraw all the food, they are a bit rough at this stage.
2. Your thought about the spam clicking strategy is helpful. This strategy is originally designed to actively refresh items because sometimes there will be item missing on the shelves. Even though this strategy might not be easy to conduct on later days, but players can cheat on earlier days with this strategy. If I have time to work on a post-jam version, I will reduce the random elements and make each day unique. That means different goals, different customers, different environment, even different mechanics for each day. Thus, I will re-design this spam clicking mechanic. Probably adding limitations to it or even totally get rid of it.
Thanks again!
This is a very fun and unique take on the theme! It's very chaotic in a good way, I really enjoyed that. I feel like it was too hard to quickly tho, as I struggled to get past level 1, and then lost on level 2. Also I think the items sometimes don't go to the cart, but rather just get dropped (even if it's on your list), so maybe a more generous hitbox for adding things to the cart could be nice. Overall, tho, great job!
Also I left a comment in your community post, plz you check out our game :) (it's at 19 ratings)
Thanks for the feedback! I've rated and commented your game! We've actually tested and modified the difficulty many many times but still couldn't have a conclusion. Some testers found it too easy and some of them found it too hard. If we had time to work on a post-jam version, we will make each level unique and not repetitive. We will focus more on the strategic aspect of level design than the action aspect, and that would be helpful to balance the difficulty. Another thing to talk about is the reason that caused your items dropped. It is actually not a hitbox issue because the hitbox is already generous enough! I found the problem might be the range of how far can items move. I will broaden the range and it should be fine. Thanks again!
I enjoy the game it's different from a lot of games that I played in this jam. great job!
Really fun game, the enemies are hard to avoid sometimes but i think thats a good thing to keep you moving around, the only thing I didnt quite like is how random it is there were a few times where i was missing one item and it was nowhere so i had to cycle through all the items until it appeared, maybe i was just unlucky but a way to manage that would be nice, like the items you need having higher probability or the enemies changing the items from time to time, but overall I really enjoyed it and it was fun great work.
Thanks! Very good point on the missing items. At this stage, all the groceries are randomly generated. I actually encourage players to refresh items by themselves throughout the playing. But I also tried to increase the possibility of the target items but it needs a bit more tests. But when I have time to make a post-jam version, I might reduce many of the random elements. Instead, I would make many certain levels which might have different customers, different goals, and different environment.
I really liked this :D very different from the games i have played so far. Good Job.
Really fun game. The are and music was really good. The concept was very interesting and fun. Good luck on the jam!
Awesome game, I really liked the graphics and SFX. The concept was also pretty fun yet quite challenging. Overall great game!
Nice graphics and audio, found the game mechanics a bit strange (why would people steal from other people's cart? Why does the groceries change on the display after picking them up?) But overall it was a nice and complete game, the music speeding up as the timer counted down was a nice touch!
Thanks for the feedback! Changing groceries is actually a technique that players can use as an advantage to refresh the groceries. Sometimes they couldn't find the target ingredients on the shelf so they have to refresh the ingredients by themselves. The original idea was actually to make the shelf empty after the player got the right item, and refresh the item when they got it wrong. I considered to put this mechanic in the tutorial but I finally removed it. I re-designed this into whether the player got the item right or wrong, the item gonna be changed and not left empty. I feel like this way would be easier for players to spot this technique by themselves without further talking in the tutorial. Thanks again!
Hey overall, it was a really fun game. It has definitely been a while since I've had a game that has induced this much panic for me lol. I am not sure how the theme is applied for this game, but I do like the concept of the overall goal! Other than that, great work!
Thanks for the feedback! About the theme, my idea is to bring the Five together every day and we will be stronger. I'm not sure if you noticed that the five includes two vegetables, one carb, one protein, and one fruit. The idea actually came from my own experience. I sometimes overlooked my nutrition because of all the works to do, and that really made me weaker. Every time when I start to eat well for a period of time, I certainly became stronger! Thanks again!
I had a lot of fun playing this game, which is hard to find. You usually like the ideas in a game or the graphics, but having fun is rare, and I this game was fun. As an audio guy, I really appreciated the fact that the music raises the tempo and modulates when you are running out of time, which is a classic. I have a question in case you want to answer, but I would understand if you don't want to reveal your tricks. When making the transition from the original audio track to the one that raises the tempo and modulates, do you do it by coding, or do you export two audio files from your DAW and create an intensity parameter in FMOD/WWISE that makes the jump when you put a specific value in intensity?
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! For the audio part, I used code to raise the pitch parameter under the AudioSource component. It will raise both the pitch and tempo. Other than that, I added another AudioSource which is the clock ticking sound to make the countdown even more intensive. I guess it would be hard to separate the track because you never know the actual turning point of the track, every time would be different. Thanks again!
Hilarious game, the music fits perfectly. Instead or beside the hud, good plus would be if we can see the stuff in the shopping cart.
Thanks for the feedback! Adding stuff in the shopping cart is a great idea and I actually thought of it. I put everything else prior to this one because this would involve a lot of works of layers to the art, and I wasn't sure if I had time for this. I would definitely try to add this to the post-jam version. Thanks again!
