Okay so this is just the Drunking of Isaac. Got it. Jokes aside, I am a great fan of the Binding of Issac so this is just the game for me. I think I've even recognised some of the room layout too, but that might just be a coincidence. The game is quite hard, and I can't state enough that not being able to walk straight makes dodging enemies and bullets much difficult than normal. It's fun though. The neon colour theme looks nice and makes a unique vibe, and it stands out quite a lot. I will also praise you for putting in the effort to make a bunch of powerups for the treasure room.

For some criticism, I'd say its a shame the floor layout doesn't change for different playthroughs, but I guess that's too much to ask for, given you've just got a week to implement all this stuff. I would also hope that there is another powerup at the end of each level. That would make each run more unique. It will definitely need more powerups though, so that might be another too much to ask for.

Anway with all that's said, this is a very nice game, and I liked it a lot! Well done!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate the criticism as well, since people on itch are afraid to be critical. Thanks a lot!

I entered a room and was attacked by many enemies who shot me until i die, very fun 10/10

BTW, the art is so cute

Lovely game! Loved the sound and the design. Only one thing is that it would be nice if you could heal more often because its kinda hard. Besides that my favorie game so far!!

Developer

You’re not the first one to complain about the “healing difficulty”. I clearly underestimated the healing at the end of the floor. (I am sooo drunk rn, sry if my sentences don’t make sense xd)

Very very nice Gameplay and Art!

If this was a full game I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Loved this execution of a roguelike game. I'm curious to know how the drunken movement was implemented, too. It felt just random enough for me move in the general direction I wanted to go.

Developer(+1)

Nerd moment! It’s very simple actually!

  1. Randomly generate a value of (-1 or 1) lets call it “x”.
  2. Create a “factor”, “max_angle” (mine is 45deg) and “difference”(i used 0.2) variables. (NOTE: difference should be anywhere from 0 to 1, higher = faster angle variation.)
  3. Set “factor” to (“factor” + “difference” * “x”) and clamp it between -1 and 1.
  4. Take your player input direction vector and rotate it around (“max_angle” * “factor”)
You can use lerp, to smooth out the movement. Thanks for asking. I love nerding about my stuff!

That's super interesting! I appreciate the response.

Very cool to use drucken movement in a top down shooter. It made for a very unique and fun game.  Also, excellent graphic design and animations. The game feels very polished!

Very cool game, reminds me of The Binding of Isaac. I love how you implemented this "drunk movement" mechanic into the game, it makes it more challenging! Not sure if the rooms are procedurally generated but it's really cool either way! Great job!

Developer

The room contents are random, but the floor layouts are not. Thanks for playing!

Your game is fun, fantastic art and everything does blend nicely together, great entry!

Believe it or not, I rated your game highest in all category. This feels like a completed game, ready for monetization! There is no flaw whatsoever, really!

Audio, visual are awesome. Gameplay is a perfect adaption of "Binding of Isaac", with the creative concept and feedback loop between your remaining HP and how wacky your movement is. The upgrade system (relic, passive) is well made enough to feel powerful every time I picked up new thing.

Your game absolutely in my top 3 this jam! Incredible work!

Cool graphics sir. Absolutely had a blast getting drunk and shooting some bats and folders. the try walking straight was such a nice addition. Had a lot of fun

Please play and rate my game as well, thanks!

Amazing job there pal! I really liked the idea of your game. Graphs are cute, gameplay is enjoyable, theme is funny. When you die starting from the bank waking up is a good idea. By the way 3 darts in a row is OP:) I would like you to try out my game and tell your thoughts. Also rating would be super!

This might be in contention for the winner. I love the art, the gameplay was fun (I assume that "The binding of Isaac" was an inspiration), it was polished. I could see this as a steam game. Great work all around!

Your art style is sooo cool!

This is so trippy! I like your take on this theme. I like the exploring part of this game, but I'm not sure if the shooting and map mechanic were actually working. Maybe more visual feedback could help. Nice job!

Developer

What exactly would you like as a visual feedback? Tell me more!

I love everything about this. Man. Great job.

10/10 wouldn't change anything!
I expected a little fun game then when I hopped in the getting into the bar and everything I was vibing going "All right we got some style and vibes going"

Then once the action started it was hard not to laugh when I'm doing the cliche drunk people stuff like trying to maintain a corner and peek it but failing and falling forward.

Everything was so polished and well fitting that the only feedback is I'm upset I can't drop a few bucks on the Play Store or Steam for it.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I really appreciate it! I don’t wanna be payed for games that weren’t made to be paid for, but you can support me by sharing and recommending the game.

This is my favorite game this jam. Went in blind and didn't realize that I was about to play a literal drinking game. I really have no feedback to give, however, I am one to prefer the cardinal keyboard shooting that you see in The Binding of Isaac versus mouse.

Though I have to say, you  could've named your game "Pub Crawl" and you didn't. Tsk tsk. If you end up making this into a full-fledge title, then it's an instant buy and a round on me.

My other title ideas were: Drunk in a dungeon Drunkgeons & Drunkgons Drunkard’s Descent

I let my friends vote on these 4 including the one winner, One More Round.

It is so polished! Nice and fun game. I love the visual, but I am feeling a little dizzy right now :D

The difficulty is quite hard, some healing would be nice :D

Developer

The beer at the end of the floor heals you! I guess its not explained outside of the hpbar being a beer. You should try drinking! xd Thanks for playing!
