How does your game fit the theme?
This game is in the style of a resource gathering survival game, but instead of playing as the main character, you play as the sound. This is a role that you normally wouldn't play in a survival rpg.

So awesome! I didn't expect this concept! I loved having to multitask with different sounds, and I wish more variety came in sooner with the layout and timing of the beats.

It's a great rhythm game, but as the role of sound, right now it feels like the player is still passively feeling the sound, and I hope to strengthen the ability of the role of sound to be active in the future

Well done!

I wasn't expecting this to be a rhythm game, but it works well.

The game is a bit too easy, but it's still fun.

Speeding up the song the more score you collect would have made it more interesting in my opinion.

Woah, amazing game and also challenging! Im a fan of rythm games, and I didnt expect to find one in this jam.

Very interesting, and very well done. I don't know if I just have no rythm, or if the scavenging wasn't very rhythmic, but it was definitely a difficult game for me

That's a very interesting take on a rhythm game. Loved it! Really wished there was more content, because honestly I could lose an entire day to a game like this. :)

honestly, I could play this game forever! can't get enough of it!

This is really fun and well-executed. I had a great time!

well executed little rhythm game!

rhythm and survival is such an interesting mash-up! this was fun, and i'm interested to see where it goes from here. i really like the music too, which is essential for a rhythm game--it's calm, but it's got a steady pulse almost like marching. it fits really well with the theme

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it. I really appreciate the feedback.

I enjoy rhythm games, but tend to suck at them. I liked how you combined the rhythms with the actions of the character. I can a lot of potential with this if you start adding in say other keys or other combos regarding other survival stuff (like crafting and cooking).

Thanks! I really like your suggestions.

Might be a bit too generous as I'm terrible at rhythm games and I was able to go on forever but pretty cool game I'd say!

Developer

Good to know and thanks for the feedback. I wasn't able to playtest the game with others before submitting so I tried to balanced it on the easier side. But I still really had no idea how easy/hard it would be, so thanks for sharing your experience :)

the game was fun to play and once you learn the rhythm it becomes quite meditative :D

would be great to have new rhythms, challenges of some additional connection to what the hero is doing: maybe buying some stuff for the collected resources, like new beats or instruments :)

very cool experience nevertheless!

Developer

Great ideas. Thank you!

Pretty neat! ^^

Don't have a lot to say cuz of how simple the game is, but I had fun with it!

That's really cool! Great sfx and music. Neat idea. Great work!

Looking at this game in respect to the theme, it's a really interesting idea to play as the sound system for a game. Looking at the game itself, it's a really interesting take on a rhythm game. The sort of procedural generation of beats is very interesting. It was fun on its own when there were just trees and coins, but the dj booth with its consistent beat really pulled the whole game together and I think was very important for the overall feel of the game. I'd love to see some sort of system to interact with outside of the rhythm inputs as well as some distinction between DJ booth hits and resource gather hits. Maybe every 10 DJ booth hits you earn some sort of mana? Not sure, but I very much enjoyed the game. I'd love to see it developed to a full release.
:)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to try the game write up detailed feedback. I really appreciate it.

Great idea on adding another system - I was thinking maybe you could use the resources to build different buildings that would change the types of objects that spawned in or change the background music. I also like your idea of differentiating the DJ booth more. It does already operate on its own health bar, but I didn't have time to develop it further.

Ah I see, I didn't notice that. Either way I love the game and the concept

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept. Once I got the rhythm going it became much easier. Would love for the progression to be more fleshed out, with more punishing misses and faster score increase

Does this go on forever? Fun, but I don't see the theme of the jam in here tho.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Yes once you pass the intro the game continues in 'endless' mode where the objects are randomly generated. I would've liked to add some kind of goal and more progression but didn't have time.

For the theme, I went with the interpretation of playing a role that you wouldn't normally play. My idea was to style the game as a resource gathering RPG, but the main character is controlled by AI, and the player takes the role of the sound effects and background music. It's different from a typical rhythm game because the events are tied to the actions of an AI character exploring the RPG world rather than directly based on the music . I think if I had more time to add additional mechanics it would've sold the idea a little better. The theme definitely pushed me to make a unique game I wouldn't normally make.

I liked the game a lot! It was very fun to press a difficult stage of buttons. Good job !
