How does your game fit the theme?
You're the Unit Now! is a "Reverse auto-chess" game where the player takes on the role of the unit controlling AI of an auto-chess game. They need to try their best to win the game while their (pretty bad) player haphazardly adds less useful units to the army

So much FUN!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing! :)

Very creative concept! I like that the characters and positions are randomized every time, it makes it interesting to play again. Though when I slow time with space, it seems to get stuck in slow-mo.

Developer

thanks for playing! :) The slowmo should deactivate when you select another unit to swap to

Amazing graphics. I loved both the audio and the images. Just a small suggestion: the cursor is flipped, you should have changed it :) But overall a great game. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I wondered if anyone would notice that about the mouse :) we’ll fix it for any future builds

Love the game, music and art! The unit info would cover up the unit I was mousing over, which made it hard to see a bit, outside of that, was fun!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and for leaving a comment! We’ll take a look at the mouseover info :) Glad you enjoyed it!

I like the rock-paper-scissors kind of strength/weakness, it really improves the strategy aspect. The art is good too! I'm guessing the placements of the units are random, which could make for some playthroughs being more difficult than others, but other than that RNG good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It is random, yeah. We'll look into that if we continue developing it. Maybe something along the lines of you getting to play for players of varying skill levels as a way to control difficulty? Just a thought. Thanks for playing!

bit confusing at the start, but i had fun with it, and more visual feedback could go along way

Developer(+1)

Thank you! we agree on the visual feedback, we've got room to improve there. glad you had fun, thanks for playing!

Cool concept and fun gameplay, although sometimes it is a bit unclear on what the attacks do

Developer

Thanks fren
It's a recurring feedback, we're including clarity in our list of stuff to polish

Love your game btw! Very charming ^^

Interesting game and concept! Gets a bit repetitive but I like that classes have weaknesses and strenghts. Also, the fact that you created both the music and art is really nice!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I think that'll be a good area to improve on our game design, figuring out a way to give the player different challenges across multiple plays of the game

Submitted(+2)

I loved the concept but am amazed you made this in less then 48 hours

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

I like the concept and I really enjoy the character designs! I think it could benefit from more visual feedback though so I could clearly see the impact I'm making on the enemies.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback Fava ^^
very relevant, and nothing a nice good polish can't fix!

We really enjoyed the concept and the game is totally playable. The music is great. It was interesting being able to strategize and then use the rhythm and timing to be able to execute the moves. The character designs are interesting and look great in their pixel form. Once you learn how to play and try each character, there are different configurations you can use to try the characters out. Whenever you play these kinds of games, you get so used to just hitting play and it going auto, so it was a unique and cute twist to actually play the little guys.  Congratulations to the team for creating such a fun game in such a short time!

Developer

Hey Daynarwhal! Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for leaving a comment with your review! We really appreciate it :)

It's funny you mentioned being used to letting the game play. In testing, I kept forgetting to take control of a unit until we implemented the code that made it mandatory!

(+1)

lol!! Thank you for sharing behind the scenes tidbit!! One of the things I forgot to mention was that this was one of the few games where skill came into play. Turns out it's a fun challenge being an ai with a not so good player!

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you! That's good to hear, we were going for the kind of game you can learn to master :)

:) Super cool
