Use of the limitation
I interpreted the word score as in a musical score. In this game you run across platforms made up of musical blocks. As you move through the level the blocks create the background music for the game.

Really nice music game!

Fun game! I really enjoyed it! I like that if you get stuck at the beginning the music stops too :D

Very clever interpretation of the limitation! The character feels a bit fast for how little control you have in the height of the jump so it's very easy to die

Very great short game. I love how you use the music note  for platforms. Although I got stuck at the beginning of the level.

I too remember Mario Maker. Fun idea.

really great concept. Check out my live review at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission

I really appreciate you taking the time to review it on stream and thanks for the suggestions.

I had fun playing this! Sometimes it felt like the jump could've been a bit more forgiving, it took me a few goes to get past certain bits. But I enjoyed the concept. I wasn't sure how the limitation applied until I read your description, now I get it.

i like it! there’s a few technical things that would make it better, mostly in terms of jump control. jump buffering and coyote time are nigh essential but feel absent here. a variable jump height could be cool too, but there’s nothing wrong with your castlevania jump! there’s also a bit of jitter, probably due to camera subpixel position. i very much appreciate your atypical interpretation of the limitation

Definitely good points about the movement. Thanks for the review and glad you liked it! Also thanks a lot for posting the link on ScalphaMission's stream.

Fun little game. The concept is great! I also like, that you can use different platforms to finish.

I like the minimalist aesthetic and simple platforming gameplay. Fun to play, not much other feedback since I feel like what was done was done well.

Developer

Thank you! Out of curiosity how long did it take to play through? I'm afraid it's a little short but I didn't have time to add more.

I only died once I think (on the first block you can run into), so it took me around the same amount of time that the song / auto-scroller takes to play. Maybe a minute or a minute and a half total?

I think it's okay for the game to be somewhat short since you only had 72 hours to make it. Personally, I think short, polished games are nice in jams because I plan on playing and rating maybe 20-30 submissions, and it's better to play that type of game rather than a game with a lot of frustrations or misunderstandings but ends up taking longer because of it.

In the end, if you still feel like it's a little short, you could consider adding more levels.

EDIT: Although after reading the other comments on how you ended up implementing the note blocks, It feels like making each individual level could end up taking a long time, so I can see why you only had time to make one.

i was contemplating giving this a 1 in limitation because it seemed completely unrelated but then i realised it meant musical score and thats really cool so 5 stars

also the game is pretty fun, good work

Developer

Thanks for reconsidering =] Glad you liked it.

This is a cool concept, it reminded me a bit of sim music, only with extra jumping. had an enjoyable time.

Great, unique concept i final made it to the other song (now my eyes have gone weird and i feel dizzy lol), one thing i feel would really improve it is a jump buffer. overall an awesome game!!!

Developer

Jump buffer is a great idea. Thanks for the feedback!

Oh wow, that was interesting. How did you make that, that the blocks respond to the sounds? Was that a straight through animation or was there an algorithm behind, which played the sounds on collision with the purple line? Really enjoyed to watch this and think about how it was done. Nice job.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it.

Yes there’s some code in the main update loop that checks collision with the purple line and then plays a note. The pitch depends on the block’s y value and the tone depends on the type of block.

Uhhhh thank you for sharing this with me. This is a smart solution, I have to try this out by myself :D

Hah- nice interpretation making it the musical score that counts.

I had a lot of fun playing this; super cute presentation too.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. The musical score interpretation is pretty clever.
