Amazing artstyle and feel. One critic I would give is that sometimes the car would hit the obstacle even when it is not physically touching the obstacle. I would recommend shrinking the hitbox a little bit. Or it might be just me imagining stuff or some browser lag issues. But overall great game!
Thank you for the feedback!
You are right about the hitbox. I used simplified box colliders that were slightly bigger than the visible shape of some obstacles. I'm already working on changing them into mesh colliders, which follow more closely the shape of the object. Thanks!
Totally digs into the aesthetics of a late 1980s/early 1990s arcade game, with the CRT shader and colour scheme...
Nonetheless it would be useful if one could have some settings to turn the CRT effect off...
Thank you for the feedback!
I'm already working on adding display settings, including toning down the scanlines. The updated version will be available after the voting period has ended though.
Amazingly slick presentation, well done! Especially for a jam, this feels very complete. Some criticism: Even though I love that raster effect, it's making it a bit hard to see things in the distance. Playing with the keyboard, I found it hard to steer with enough precision.
Thank you for the feedback!
I'm working on an update that lets the player set the strength of the scanlines effect, even turning it off if preferred. Hopefully that will help with the visibility. I'll see if I can add a steering speed curve instead of having it go full speed from the start. I'll need to do extensive testing though, because it will affect the game feel.
Im always a sucker for synthwave stuff so I can appreciate the aesthetic choice. I can see the effort you put into details like the intro, in order to make the game look as finished as possible. I found it hard to determine where the hitbox was while steering, however. Especially when trying to fit the car into a narrow space just after a hard steer.
Thank you for the feedback!
I'll definitely refine those obstacle colliders since some were too big due to being simplified into boxes.
This is a great submission! It's a small but complete package that's a good bit of fun. I'm no good at these kind of games but I enjoyed my time with it. I really liked how you presented the intro and the player onboarding as well. Great work!
Thank you for your feedback!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
What a great presentation! The opening really brought some hype and set the stage. Wish I could have found an interesting way to show controls like that.
Thank you for your feedback!
I'm kinda proud of the opening sequence, even though I had to cut down a lot of stuff I wanted to include due to the jam time constraint.
The controls are presented using World Space canvases attached to the player object in case you want to try that out.
I liked the aesthetics and classic arcade feel! I also really liked the UI style. Impressive for 10 days work!
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you liked the UI, I think I spent way too much time on it though. XD
Congrats. Tron meets subway surf.
I enjoyed your game and the intro on how to play makes perfect sense.
Thank you for your feedback.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
Nice aesthetics, I love the Tron style and the mesh mountains to the sides. Excellent job, I hope to see more!
Thank you!
Nice game! I love the trippy shaders! That cyberpunky sun was ma BG for a long time :D
Thank you! Glad you had a good time!
I loved the art style and sounds. It fits wonderful. Jumping feels little bit stiff but great game
Thank you for the feedback.
I tried to make the jump snappy to make sure the player can clear the fast moving obstacles.
Some other comments have pointed out it would be nice to be able to move while mid-air, maybe that will make it feel less stiff. I'll consider that for a future version of the game.
The aesthetics are great, from the visual graphics to the sound. The game is fun to play and I liked some small touches such as when you turn the car too much it makes a squeaky sound. One thing that would add more to this great project would be to add VFX when the car hits the ground and a sound of impact and dropping, to make it more immersive. Overall, a great addition to the jam. Good Job!
Thank you for the detailed feedback!
I'll definitely try adding those extra effects to improve the game feel. Thanks!
looked great and I enjoyed it, well done
Thank you! Glad you had a good time.
Wow this game has really pretty aesthetics and music! It's very fun and has a really interesting concept which ties very well with the theme.
My favourite part is that I can constantly try different approaches to the obstacles on each level to see which one is more efficient , consequently keeping the game very entertaining with each try.
Great work there! \(^_^)/
I'm glad you noticed that! Yes, you can try different approaches to see what works and what doesn't.
Thank you for the feedback!
Fantastic visuals and a fun game. This might make a good mobile game. You could put an advertisement screen between each level.
Thank you for the feedback!
Hmm... making it into a mobile game sounds feasible with some tweaks here and there. Not sure about the ads though. I hate ads myself, so if I ever add them to my games, they'll have to be voluntarily started by the player (for a reward) and not forced by the game.
Very cool game! I really like the aesthetics, but the scanlines and the grid are a bit harsh on the eyes when playing in full screen mode. Still, love the 80s vibe!
Thank you for the feedback!
Definitely adding a setting to turn off scanlines in a future version. About the grid hmmm... maybe I'll add another setting to make it subtler. Maybe even let the player set the grid color. XD
Thanks!
Without the scanlines the grid might not be as much of a problem. But maybe see if making the ground a little darker (or something with less contrast in general) will help too? But yeah, awesome otherwise.
I love this aesthetics and the gameplay. The car feels good to drive and the levels are very fun! Great work!
Thank you! I'm glad you had a fun time!
Idk maybe it's just me but it's hard to tell whether you gonna jump over some obstacles. Also adding some animations for when turning or hitting something(also particles) would improve the visual. But overall you did exceptionally good on the look of the game, the UI has a nice style especially the UI for controls is very clean looking. Great game, keep it up :D
Thank you for the feedback!
I thought of the levels as a learn-as-you-go experience, with very short duration so that the player can try different approaches in multiple tries. Some jumping spots are obvious since I placed a soul up there to be collected, but later on the player should get a feel of when they can or can't clear a jump.
Thank you for the animation and particles on hit suggestion! :D
nice entry, I like the 80s feel. Nicely polished for a Jam entry.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the game.
