Well done! I'm surprised to have encountered no bugs with that many rules and interacting stuff. There may be a few balancing issues, but the fun is there nonetheless.

Developer

There is definitely a few of them, but I plan to fix those post-jam! Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

Very original and interesting idea with good implementation, i think you need made from this a full game

Nice job! The knights were really good and I loved the interesting switching up mechanics. Well done! ;D

I love this idea of new rules staking on each other, it really makes things challenging. Im personally just not a fan of the not all keys can be trusted and keys are rude now combination, because sometimes you think a key is just being rude and then you get killed, it makes things quite confusing. Also the tiles take a while to actual become useful, so maybe just dont have tiles be in the game until a rule involving them comes up, because I was confused for a while about what they were there for and tried a bunch of crap with them.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! yeah we've seen a lot of confusion with the ground plates at the start so that's a good suggestion. We'll tackle that in a post-jam patch.

Nice job on your game! I liked the ever growing/shifting list of random rules, it reminded me of one of my favorite card games, Mao. Really made me have to remember what everything did. The separate enemy and player movement was interesting as well.

impressive game you got there. there were some clever mechanics like the rude doors and the trap keys and stuff. it was really fun and nearly got me hooked for life. thank goodness i was able to give up my addiction and go on living my life again.

it was good while it lasted... c'est la vie

I really like how the game forces you to think fast and don't forget the rules as you go in each dungeon. I find the ice rule the most annoying but in a good way! >u< Keep the good work!

This is some amazing work! I'm impressed you've made this in 48 hours. I would definitely buy if you polished and released this as a full game!

I'm a sucker for a playable credits/menu screen. Great game.

I really enjoyed it, if you were to finish it up and release it as full game it will sit pretty nice next to the binding of isaac. The only issue I encounter was  sometimes the key seem to not pick up, I am guessing it because the check to see for contact occurs on the check to see if the space is available, which allows to things to move into a space after that check but not interact.

Nice! Difficult as the rules built up, but I really liked the overall feel, art, and concept.

Really good game, probably one of the most polished I played during this jam! Tons of potential here :)

This is really fun! I like the graphics and that you have to think on your feet and need to adapt to new rules quickly.

At times the RNG for teleportation felt a bit unfair but at times I teleported masterfully (got lucky) around the enemies.

I think you could maybe make different runs feel more different. At least for me the new rules appeared in (more or less) the same order.

Had fun playing your game!

really woow! I am gonna leave this game on my computer, great job !

I really like the atmosphere. Great graphics and sounds. Sometimes it felt a bit too random though. I also found that your corpse can pick up keys and open doors. Overall, a fun and well done game! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! corpses snatching keys/opening doors is a bug we hope to fix post-jam. Thanks for letting us know and thanks for playing!

I love the mounting chaos y'all have built here, and your aesthetics are quite polished!

I will say that should be more audio-visual distinction between the keys that can & can't be trusted: something as simple and subtle as the super-mushroom / poison-mushroom distinction from Smash Bros (e.g. slight discoloration, maybe a bit of rust, key sprite is flipped around its y-axis) -- that would lead to fewer random deaths and more meaningful deaths, at least as I feel it.

But still, given the time constraints, y'all did an outstanding job. I can't wait to play this again!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! There's already a very slight color brightness difference between the enemy and normal keys, but seems like it's a tad too subtle yeah. Not a lot of people are picking up on it, especially when stacked with other rules like the darkness. We still want to do some tweaks after the jam voting period is over so we'll definitely be making that more lenient in the patch!

My computer is rendering this game at thousands of frames per second, making my pc scream haha, a frame limiter would probably be a good idea!

Overall, this is a fun experience but I found myself managing to get through most of the levels without even having to consider any of the rules for said level and because of how zoomed in the camera is, it makes it hard to formulate any plans even if you tried.
Lots of seemingly random little elements that could kill you which eventually lead to me having to restart the game, OUCH!

Developer

Hey thank you! Yeah we've noticed that some rules like the random teleports can feel a bit unfair, especially when you happen to start a run with many of these effects. It's a balance between fast paced and strategy to place that time pressure on you, but also a balance between fair and unfair 'out of control' elements. We still hope to patch these things in a later version.

Very impressed. A very solid and well presented game all done in 48 hours! Kudos. I found really enjoyable to play and replayable. Good job.

I went to level 11 and had everyting rude and dark It was hard finding the keys and doors ^^

It's a lovely game, I like the idea of stacking rules that slowly makes everything harder/out of control!
