It's pretty fun, particularly when trying to cheat. Like on that one level with a bunch of reverse buttons, if you hit the corner just right, you can bounce right back to the initial fan on the first go and then finish the level in a second. I think it's cool when there's room to be cheeky like that.

One very minor thing i'd suggest is to remove the small delay between death and restart. Make it so as soon as the death sound starts playing you can already have another go right away. I always ended up clicking just before because i just wanted to have another go "RIGHT NOW" and it was a tiny speed bump.

Beyond that, it's pretty solid. Good job.

Thanks for playing! Yeah, I definitely wanted there to be some "cheeky" ways to beat levels and tried to put a couple in, but I also hope people find more. And that's a great point about starting right away. During playtests, I saw a few people try to start a level before it was preloaded, but I didn't make the connection to just starting as soon as the death sound starts. Thanks for the feedback!

I think this was a good idea that was well executed.
Especially since you've mentioned making a mobile version in the future, I think I'd recommend paying attention to the fact that you have a limited amount of frames to release the ball before it shoots off where you don't want it to go. Depending on how snappy & fluid vs. tricky you want your game to be, you might consider making the platforms that you need to bounce off of longer, and widening some of the gaps that the balls need to pass through. I also have to agree with slower/varying fan speed from that other commenter.
I had fun playing it, and I look forward to playing it again on my phone.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. One idea we're considering is having varying difficulty settings that could change the fan speeds as well. I'm not sure if that would translate well to mobile, but that would hopefully allow the player to alter how they wanted the game to feel. There's a lot of fine-tuning that needs to be done for sure. Thanks for the feedback. It's super helpful.

I had a lot of fun with this one! Really simple mechanic that has a lot of potential for a lot of unique puzzles. I could imagine myself procrastinating playing this on my phone for ages. Great submission!

P.S. Also I like the name and have made a game (unrelated to the jam) that's also called Spinout :'D

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I also checked out your Spinout and that was a lot of fun and looks really good.

Thank you! I made it for uni but I think I'm going to come back to it at some point. Very different vibe to your game :'D

This is a nice submission! I like the visual style and the gameplay is intuitive and fun. I enjoyed the levels before the introduction of the spikes more, as the spikes felt just a bit too punishing.

I suspect that the fan rotation should also be slowed down a little, perhaps with variation in fan speed in some levels. Trying to get accurate long distance launches can be more frustrating than fun at times, but I think the fast speed works well when you only need to move a short distance.

As some others said, this could make a really fun + addictive mobile game. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I'm glad you liked it. We played around with the fan speeds a bit, but that's definitely something that would need a lot of fine tuning, especially if switching over to mobile where players are a little less accurate. And that's a really good point about distance of jumps affecting fan speed. Right now all of the fans move the same speed, but it might make sense to slow down particularly large launches to avoid frustration.

As far as the spikes go, do you remember if there was a particular level that felt unfair/too punishing? I know the level with the spikes on the moving wall is one that I considered significantly reworking but ran out of time.

Thanks so much for the feedback. It's super helpful!

Level 10 was by far the toughest, as the spike tunnel was very long and needed very tight timing. I'm not sure which one you meant by the moving wall, but if it was 12, I actually quite liked that one!

I'm glad you liked it! The idea right now is to try to make a mobile version, and I'm heading over to check out your game right now!

This game has a real solid vibe, I dig it! Love the open-ended puzzle design for most of the levels, since accommodating different or alternate solutions is a great way to make each playthrough unique.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I've been planning out some new levels and your comment actually helped me come up with a few ideas for levels with multiple ways to solve them.

Wow, this is realllly solid. The vector graphics are a fantastic little touch and the music complements it all perfectly. I could totally see this with 4-5 times as many levels or even more (especially to spend more time exploring each new mechanic in varying degrees of difficulty) in a full release. And it's super fun and oh so satisfying to play on top of that! Excellent job!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed playing and especially glad that you it felt satisfying since that was my main goal.

This is so satisfying to play. simple but enjoyable. I could see this being a successful puzzle game on mobile

Developer

Thanks! I think moving forward, the idea would be to move to mobile.

Where it stands right now, this is one of the most underrated puzzle games I've seen! I really love these mechanics and levels, and I'm so glad you popped by our game so I was prompted to come over here, this was REALLY good.
