This concept was fun, and I loved the humor, but the best part might just be the music! Goddamn, those tunes had me SHART CIRCUITing in real life!

Rear view action cam is another highlight, loved seeing my shart destroy my enemies. Good job! :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! :)

I like how the game has that nice arcade feel and difficulty to it. Honestly, if you polish this game up and toss it on the app store, I think you got something solid.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your kind words!! Yes we were aiming for a little arcadey Driving vibe. From all the feedbacks we've received, we plan on fixing/modifying the game and maybe give it a proper release somewhere 👍

The name 😭, funny idea, nice sounding music and SFX, and the action camera for the oil spills is funny too. The driving doesn't feel that good I think the game might be going for more of an autorunner feel, the breaking doesn't work how you would expect it's more like an ability than a function of driving with the cool down on it. Would be cool to have more direct control over movement but I also understand that isn't quite what the game was going for.

Thank you for taking out time and playing our game!

Yeah, this game jam has been an excellent way of playtesting our game. We have found a clear direction of making our game even fun by just noting down the issue and finding creative solutions for them. Like the braking system will now be tied to oil depletion. As in players can brake as long as they want, but it will depletes oil faster. Same goes to touching border or crashes, players loose oil instead of one-hit-kills.

This is a cool idea and the presentation is very well implemented. It feels similar to a micro-machines/plastic toy kind of racing-combat. And it's hilarious how easily the car explodes.

Developer

Oh thank you so much! We have been aiming to Mini Motor Racing X kinda vibe, which is what you noticed aptly!

Yeah we too had a ton of fun building the dismantling car element 😂😊

Love the music! Neat mechanics too!

Fun game! Music and SFX are great! Very Slick game

Developer

Thank you so very much for your kind words 🥰

I love the music!!! And the graphics are very slick... love the curves and geometry... cool gameplay!!! Well done!

Developer

Your kind words make us wanna work hard and make games fun again!

Thank you very much 😊😇

I love that the children yay sfx glitches out, I laugh everytime ! Nice game, but having 1HP is hard :')

Developer(+1)

No worries. In post evaluation period, we will make it such that everything including crashing is tied to oil depletion. That way players get penalized for wrong move with reduced oil points instead of dying immediately.

Now players have to be strategic instead of scared everytime car runs in borders.

Thank you kindly for your useful feedback 😇🙏🏼

Game looks good, music is kind of funky, SFX are interesting.

Very challenging game but definitely one of those easy to pickup hard to master sorts of games.

Good use of placing information in the environment rather than just having icons on a HUD, however sometimes these values are obscured or hard to read due to lighting on surfaces (couple times I couldn't see my gas because there was too much light on the top of my car).

Nice use of a rear view action camera in the top right when "slicking" an enemy.

I noticed the enemies get a free pass when running into rocks etc. though, felt unfair haha.

Dying instantly off of one hit especially when you need to do the lap a few times to get all the cars is kind of painful, some sort of 3 hit system where you can be dumb on the first two or build the rhythm then go into a state of fear for the last point might be nice, maybe gain +1 durability on defeating an enemy.

Can see a future for this if there were more actions you could do like using w boost, or double tapping w to raise the car to go over rocks and obstacles.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

You asked for it and we will deliver!

In post evaluation period, we will make it such that everything including crashing is tied to oil depletion. That way players get penalized for wrong move with reduced oil points instead of dying immediately.

Also, having a successful crash on enemies will also give players back some amount of oil, so players won't have to rely on random oil barrels

Now players have to be strategic instead of scared everytime car runs in borders.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. It has truly helped us not only make the game better, but also grow our skills as game designers / developers / audio-visual artists 🙏🏼😇

I wished the car would go a bit faster to make this more challenging. Overall I enjoyed the relaxing music and presentation

Developer

We tried making car faster, bit faster car meant you'd miss the enemy cars that you're supposed to sabotage, then having to complete one whole lap to meet the missed enemy again 😅

Although, adding a boost button that consumes oil upon use may not be a bad idea! That way you may have a choice of boosting forward if you wanna catch up to an upcoming enemy car!!

That was enlightening! Thank you for an honest feedback. 🙏🏼😇

Submitted(+2)

yeah that’s a clever perspective to introduce some sort of boost instead of making everyone constantly faster.
Good luck if you keep developing it!!

Developer

Pretty cool game! I really like the dual use of ticking down oil as a time resource and as a weapon. The farthest I got was 5 cars remaining in the desert level. I do feel like this game has a bit of an identity crisis; the car goes kinda slow which is more suitable for dodging obstacles, but at the same time I want to go fast and oil slick my enemies. I do agree with some of the other commenters that a way of speeding up could help. I’d almost rather have the tracks be a lot shorter and loop more often so you have to deal with your own oil drop misses more.

Developer(+1)

Very fair comment, and yeah having more time to develop such a game to polish it up more and playtest to see where the fun is and pursue down that road would've been very nice, however thank you so much for trying it out!!!

Submitted(+3)

You think you a smart fella but you a shart slicka :)

This was nice! Very funny, wish i didnt just die in like one hit thats all!

A secret, press “p” in our game lol

Developer

Hmm...we should probably tie the car death with oil depletion, as in, everytime you crash you loose some amount of oil instead of dying. That should give you enough time to refill and react!

Thank you for your feedback! I truly appreciate it it 😇

Solid game. Fun and hard. I really like the aesthetic you went for, and it's complemented nicely with the music. Great entry!

Developer

Thank you so very kindly for playing our game! We did have a proper plan for diegetic aesthetics in the game, so as to immerse the players fully in the gameplay!

Submitted(+2)

Really cool idea! I think it could a bit more in terms of driving mechanics, I found the racing felt a little slow. Maybe dropping an oil slick could also give you a speed boost? But overall great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The player was originally a little bit faster, but we wanted to adjust it a bit to make the obstacles a little easier to navigate through. Although this does mean the tracks are a little longer to get through (and it may have made the last level unbeatable as we forgot to adjust the ramps to account for the lower speed). But yeah speed boosts would definitely be a great addition to the game, maybe it could also help you take over other cars. Thanks again for the feedback and thanks for playing!

Developer(+1)

Actually it's not a racing game, but more of a sabotage game. We will make sure to let the tutorials mention that 🙌🏻

Thank you so much for playing our game 😄

Submitted(+2)

Really enjoyed the music, and the camera view to see other cars slide on my oil spills was a great idea!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing ☺️

Submitted(+3)

Man, this game is so slick, I love it!

I had to laugh out loud when I dropped oil on my enemy and another camera popped up, showing me how they slipped on it :D

Two things I wished I had: a boost button and a honk button, but since it's a jam, you can't do it all :D

And with that, you did a great job!

Developer(+1)

Hmm...you know what? Boosting does sound like an interesting addition here! Players could boost in exchange for, say 15 oil points reduction. That sets the perfect balance for risk/reward factor!

Thank you so very kindly for your kind and helpful words!  🙏🏼☺️

Super fun and I love how literally slick was used.

It's very satisfying to get good at overtaking and placing the oil slicks just in front of an enemy car, it feels mischievous since you have to get right on top of them and place it down.

I got stuck on the tutorial for a bit because I missed my oil slick and couldn't find the car for a while, so I just placed oil everywhere until he crashed off screen haha. I found myself trying to slow down a lot when I missed a shart, but was still too fast to make a recovery and ended up waiting for the next lap.

Very impressed with how well put together this is and all the small details. The car honking when you pass them, the outline on the cars but not the powerups, the small mirror on the back of the car, and the camera popup to show someone slipped. Very cool stuff! They all really added to the experience, and made it feel really polished and put together.

Also great how you managed to get out three levels with music for each one, great work to you and your team!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! It is always amazing to hear the positive feedback on things that we actually put a lot of thought on, it feels great to see that they are not going unnoticed, thank you for playing!!!

Submitted(+1)

The vibes are immaculate. Love the music and the atmosphere. I would love to see another reason to spill oil since it's easy to avoid that and let the other cars be. I'd also like if crashing was a bit more forgiving, maybe you restart after 3 hits? Otherwise, very fun and chill.

Developer

Well there are 3 levels apart from the tutorial, to beat a level you got to defeat all the cars in that level, cars aren't able to dodge the oil as soon as you drop it but after a little while they do attempt to go around it. Regardless, thank you so much for playing!!

Submitted(+2)

this game is great. lots of fun. levels are a bit too long, with there being no cars to attack for a long time until you see another one. but i loved it, truly fun to be a lil shit, hehehe.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah we will work towards balancing the level to event cars balance 👍

Submitted(+2)

first of all, the soundtrack is top notch! is there a place i can find more of this person's music?

the idea of your attacks being able to kill you on subsequent laps is good game design! it has risk/reward baked into it. i do think, with some improvements, the game could be a lot more fun.

im guessing the ultimate goal of the game is to kill all the other cars. for context, i love "masocore" games like Getting Over It, etc (though I dislike the "masocore"/"rage games" genre label because they make it sound like the player is in pain, rather than just someone who enjoys getting better at a game for real instead of the game getting easier for them via leveling or whatever). on paper the fact that one mistake starts the game all over doesn't bother me. but i didn't have the patience to beat the forest track for several reasons.

it'd be nice to have some indicator of actual progress towards success (some UI saying "3/12 cars killed" or something, for example). without it, it's hard to gauge the success level of a run, and i'm not even sure if what i'm doing will actually lead to success.

a lot of time is spent just on straight shots of road, which feels a bit slow. it'd be nice if there was a way to speed up, and a reward for taking the risk of going faster, like the game keeping track of your completion time. maybe it does, but if that's something the player should strive for, it should probably be onscreen somewhere.

the controls feel a bit delayed, but i can see why they were necessary to make the act of putting oil in front of an enemy car more challenging and rewarding. one thing i questioned was the braking cooldown. i'm sure you added it for a reason though. if so there should at least be more feedback since it's a bit nonstandard, usually i'd expect to be able to tap brake to go just a little bit slower.

i did love the design and the overall vibe so i think with those little tweaks the game could be great!

Developer(+1)

Well first off, thank you so much for such a detailed feedback. They help us improve and that's exactly what we want.🙏🏼

Now, here's our sound Designer's Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/artist/3VflVg74spUKHKwQvN4034?si=ybOhauniQZujtW3FWnbhMw

You mentioned having a counter for how many cars were eliminated. Due to our insistence on having an organic  UI integration, There is a number on every car signifying how many cars remain. However, we are also planning on adding a bill board at every possible place in the level that shows the number of cars remaining.

As for the braking system, we will be ditching cooldown in favour of endless braking, which accelerates oil depletion rate as long as players keep pressing the brake button.

The tracks themselves shall also be shortened while some obstacles will be removed to make it so that player's oily mess gets a chance to shine as a villain here.

Hopefully these (and many other changes based on feedback we've received) will make the game more fun and accessible to everyone.

Submitted(+1)

thanks for being gracious with the feedback! i always feel a little awkward sending unsolicited criticism, even if constructive, but i figured it could be helpful! if i write a lot about a game, it means i liked it and want to help the authors go further in the future. the changes you have planned sound like good ideas!

i totally understand about wanting a minimal UI. i didn't understand at all about the numbers on the cars. billboards would definitely be helpful feedback, though if you wanted to get fancier, one idea might be that, when a car dies, you make its number fly up from the bottom of the screen, then decrement it while the player can see, before it fades out. it'd probably help too if each number was a different color, so it's extremely obvious that the number starts as the number of the car you just killed, then decrements to the number of the car you're about to see.

now that i know about the car numbers i was able to make it to the second level! i did bounce off that level eventually for the other two reasons (long straight segments and trying to make it through those traffic arrows with the braking cooldown is hellish). i did have fun though, thanks for making it!

Developer(+1)

The more feedbacks we get, the better we become. I like the idea you provided about decrementing number from a bottom to top of screen. We might give it a go during testing 😇

We will make sure to make tracks smaller and have the braking cooldown removed (in exchange for faster oil depletion) so that the experience is much more your control.

Thank you so much for giving us your valuable time and feedback  🙏🏼☺️

Developer(+1)

I have to agree with you about the soundtrack, our teammate Kudu really did shine here, Septarap included the link to his Spotify in his comment, highly recommend checking him out, really talented.
