It's a puzzle game inspired by the self-eating ouroboros snake which is an ancient symbol for infinity. You have to form a loop by eating your tail to complete a level.

Very interesting spin on the classic snake game, you really thought about adding new things(the stars, galaxy, etc). One little bug was after I completed a level, the text from the level is above the continue to next level menu.

Overall great game, gj :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words. :)

The tutorial text was a very last second addition so we forgot to mind the draw order - but it’s fixed for our post-jam build.

I‘m glad you liked the many different mechanics- we had a lot of fun coming up with and implementing them. ^^

Fun game. Liked how you slowly introduced more mechanics and more challenging puzzles. Nice art aswell.

Well made game! With the nice variety of puzzle elements you've created an impressive amount of levels in the given time. I did have an issue of level 22 where the boxes seemed to not be interactable, but amazing work nonetheless!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! :)

Yeah we unfortunately placed the boxes on the wrong layer in level 22. It‘s already fixed and there will be a post-jam version with more levels and a lot of QoL improvement if you want to check it out. Congrats on making it to Level 22 btw. I think you‘re only the second person to do so!

Very nice job, this might be the best sokobond I've played this jam, great job!

Developer

Thanks! I love sokoban so that’s great to hear :)

Impressive range of mechanics, it must have been a ton of work to come up with all of these levels! One thought is that since the levels are linear and you show the level name on top, it might be nice to show the current level number as well so the player can gauge their current progress. But lovely work overall, great job!

Developer(+1)

Good point, I just added the level number in front of the name for our post-Jam build :D

I liked the way you introduced each mechanic one by one so that the players weren't confused at any part of the process. Cool game!!! Enjoyed playing it.

Sure, the concept of eating your tail isn’t unique but rarely anything is in this sea of nearly 10,000 games. What is nice here though is the visual style; I like the cosmic aesthetics, involving black holes is cool and always a win in my book!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I‘m glad our artist took it in such a cool direction :)

hello fellow ouroboros creator

pretty good! admittedly not the first game i've seen with this concept this jam and i felt maybe too many of the early puzzles were too easy where the most straightforward solution was the correct one, so maybe more complexity should have been introduced earlier

still, very solid, and like everyone else who made an ouroboros-themed game, you get a 5 on creativity :@)

Developer

Haha nice, us ouro-bro-ros need to stick togheter! :D

And I agree: we’re already working on smoothing out the pacing with more levels for a post-jam version. ;)

Really cool concept, I like the variety of mechanics you combined into all the puzzles. The intro levels all showcase the mechanics in a simple way that lets you progress onto the real puzzles while still learning what everything does. I do think that levels which involved a lot of shrinking and growing could be a bit tedious because I would have to count how long my snake needed to be and realize I was a segment too long or too short, but that's not a huge deal. I think this is a really solid puzzle game overall, the loop theme is very well incorporated too.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the great feedback!

Yeah I though the same when playing after the jam. What do you think about a size counter ui like this?

Submitted(+1)

I think that would definitely help out, circling the galaxies still makes you to have to count the spaces around it but at least with that it's a fixed number unlike the length of the snake so you're only counting once per level now. There's probably lots of instances where there's more than just one way to loop around the galaxy if it's not at the center of a 3x3 square of tiles. So also displaying info on the number of tiles you need to circle around a galaxy would probably be needlessly complicated and maybe a bit unnecessary depending on the feedback you get.

love how you explain the mechanics in the first levels and love the art style! great game!

Developer(+1)

thanks! :)

This has to be the game I've played the most so far in this Jam. It's really awesome how many different blocks and mechanics you managed to add in just 96h and mix them all together into a single puzzle!

The puzzles really had me thinking, you're a really good designer :)

The one and only little detail that you could have improved is the snake's movement itself. Instead of "teleporting" to the next square, it would feel way better if there were a smooth transition to the next position. Anyway, that’s a minor thing, just a tip :)

Great job and good luck with the jam :D

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you so much! You playing our game the longest must be a really good sign. ^^

Animating the movement is gonna be a bit tough since the whole game takes place entirely on a godot tilemap. (Made it much easier to create levels.) Maybe I can still find a way in a future update – but I’ll probably have to re-do a lot of code for that. 😅

Submitted(+1)

Don't worry about that! I just meant that it could be a great detail, but the game is perfect like it is ;)

As simple as the game is the puzzles are actually pretty cool and a bit tricky to solve, pretty nice work!

Very cool game ! The tutorial is super smooth and a real pleasure to go through. Cute visuals and music, it really creates an harmonious environment.

Submitted(+2)

A lot of content for a jam game! I really liked how the mechanics were introduced gradually, and a lot of mechanics opening a vast amount of possibilities for level design. The art is cool and the dynamic music is a nice touch! Maybe the level order needs to be rearranged a bit but that's just a nitpick. Very impressive work, god job!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words and feedback! And thanks for noticing the dynamic music :D

I really like how you added different elements and mechanics and combined them to build the levels. The tutorials are also really well made and explain everything you'll use later. As a nice touch maybe you could add a sprite of the snake eating its tail when you finish a level. Really well thought out!

Submitted(+1)

i really enjoyed the puzzles and how u add different elements and then combine them, it's enteratining, also digging the parallax effect on the background and very cute snek!

Submitted(+1)

Many people have mentioned the tutorials but I must agree they are great and well done. This game is fun! I love the art too. Very nice.

The amount of mechanics you were able to make is pretty astounding. I especially like the focus on the tutorial t the beginning- Really cool game.

Submitted(+2)

That a nice twist on the old snake game. The tutorial levels did a great job at explaining each mechanic, the difficulty really spiked afterwards though (or maybe I'm just stupid :D )

Developer(+1)

Haha, no it‘s not just you. We‘re working on some more intermediate levels right now to smooth out the difficulty pacing.

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

This was a really great puzzle game: I was glad that you had a run of tutorial levels at the beginning and then started to throw the real puzzles at us. Great job!
