Pretty cool concept!! Hard to master for sure but I was really invested for a while even though I sucked at using the dash mechanic. I do wanna mention it was slightly tiresome waiting for the ability loop to move to the mechanic I wanted to use at that moment, maybe instead of the purple orb, you can have some orb that lets you fast-forward to the next mechanic?
Thanks for playing our game!! I get how looping around can get clunky at certain moments, we'll take your feedback into account when we go back to refine our game!! Also great suggestion with the arrows -- funny thing is, we already had a way to easily move the arrows further away from the player, but all collectively forgot about changing it once it was implemented 💀 This is definitely something we'll get around to fixing!
Thanks for playing!!! That is the highest score we've seen in the review section up until now!! Great job!
Also wow, can’t believe we weren’t the only ones struggling with the audio + WebGL issues 😭 Good to know someone else can relate to the pain LOL. Seriously though, thank you so much for taking the time to download the Windows version!!
The game feels sooo polished!!! I did find the game got too easy at a certain point, my score was getting really really high without me having to be strategic about my items at all. But other than that, I had no issues and the game felt great! Very worth it to download the Windows version for the music + sfx. Overall, amazing job!!!
Oooh good point, I think we will have to test out multiple things, including adding colliders on branches, but also maybe just visually blurring or muting the colours of the branches a bit, so players don't feel that they should be interactable. Great observations, and we'll definitely circle (haha) back to this when we refine things!
We also did receive similar feedback regarding the hazardous ladybugs. In the game's current state, they can feel kind of unavoidable when you're going really fast, which at times, can ruin the fun. Players want to zoom around at full speed, buit then think, "Wait why not just use the jetpack since it's safer?" So yeah, we'll need to tweak the level design a bit and make sure the challenge feels satisfying and fair. Your point about camera work helping with that is also a great suggestion.
Also agree with the radial dial idea! It could really help (just have to play around with the UI a bit so it doesn't get too crowded_.
Thanks for all the suggestions and spending the time to reply!! We'll gather together all the feedback we are getting through this review page (+ some more) and hopefully make the game feel better in the future!!
Oooh, thank you for the feedback! We’re super grateful for all the playtesting we’re getting. It’s really helping us figure out what to refine, and level difficulty is definitely on our list. Adding different enemies as the game progresses could be really interesting!!
We originally wanted players to feel more inclined to use the web slinging to build up momentum/speed, but we’ve also heard from others that they leaned toward using the thrust more since it felt more consistent. Do you think you'd be more incentivized to swing on the yellow bugs for momentum/speed boosts if it meant it also gave you more points or contributed to a higher score?
Thanks again for playing!
Wowowow great work on the game and level design FOR REAL!! Super impressed :D I am a fan of this concept, the atmosphere is great, and the music/sound effects really add to it.
This is definitely just me, but I kept squinting even though I knew it wouldn’t help me see better LMAO. That limited visibility really does crank up the difficulty!
Pretty creative idea using the theme of loops!! Great job!! Personally cannot multitask so the game was a challenge for me for sure, especially in the beginning when I wasn't too used to the controls...😭 I'd start crossing the road and forget to look on my right side... then I'd look on the right side and forget to cross the road...
HELL YEAHHH!! Thanks for the long thoughtful review. We really really appreciate it, and we’re definitely saving this for when we go back to polish and refine the game.
For sure, I also agree that we didn’t have the most time to test out different indicators or UI elements since we got caught up fixing bugs, tweaking movement, improving the rope physics, and refining level design. So it means a lot that you’re playtesting and giving us such helpful feedback since it really helps us figure out what to focus on next. A better tutorial and more intuitive UI/scoring system/investigating the screen tearing will definitely be on the list!
So funny you mentioned the branches and the lack of colliders on them because one of the other devs and I were going back and forth about why it should have colliders and why it shouldn't (I was on the side for no colliders...). He's going to laugh when he sees your comment because you've officially proven his point... I'll admit, perhaps colliders would've made more sense.
Great idea with having the boundaries be bouncy, we'll take this into account for sure! I don't want to make you feel pressured to reply again, so only if you have the time, I did have a couple questions: for the ladybugs, do you think the game would feel more balanced with branch colliders but without hazardous bugs? Also what do you think about bouncy branches as well instead of hard colliders? I'm curious about how that might shift the experience, definitely something to playtest.
Also great point on the yellow bugs! This also brings me to a follow-up question, if they gave extra points for swinging on them, do you think you'd be more inclined to use them strategically rather than rely on the jetpack the entire time?
Again, thanks for the amazing feedback. It means a lot!
Woahh really polished game given the limited time! Great job!! I can totally see how this could get really addicting. I did run into a small bug though: after dying and seeing the game over screen, going back to the main menu and hitting play didn’t work. I had to press restart instead to get it working again. Otherwise amazing job!
