You made Terraria in under 48 hours! Hahaha, but in all honesty, I really enjoyed my time with this game, digging was very satisfying and I love the sound effect for it. I ended up digging really far down and I couldn't dig anymore, I was just floating in the air, I don't know if that was supposed to represent me hitting the bedrock or if it's a bug. Great game nonetheless!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah I just placed some colliders around the world so players could not fall down forever. Placing a bedrock sprite along the bottom would have been a great idea though, I did not even think of that. I actually chose that name because is is a Shadow of Israphed reference.

Nice relaxing game :) lovely art style, and ominous ambient music.  great work!  One of the more polish jam games i've seen! :D

Developer

Thank you!

Wow, you put a lot of effort into the game. It reminds me of Terraria/Starbound.^^ The digging is sometimes a bit glitchy. Are there some kind of invisible obstacles or barriers which can not be destroyed?

Anyways,  great entry. :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! No the colliders are just a bit buggy, creating 2D colliders from a procedural mesh is actually more difficult than for 3D games somehow. And there was definitely not enough time to make that work perfectly.

At first I found the mining a bit fiddly because sometimes there would be just a small bit of ground left that impeded my progress. However, after I got the first upgrade it was much better. Maybe I just figured out how to do it right. In any case, it was rather relaxing digging around to find precious minerals, and I like that you gave him what amounted to a mini jet pack to help with getting out of precarious situations. Also, the ending was pretty cute.

Developer

Thanks! Something like a jetpack would have indeed been cool, but pretty hard to implement with the limited time. That's why I allowed placing blocks.

Really cute and satisfying game! I loved the ending... I'd say I personally needed the diamond to be more of an effort to find though but then again not everyone is a tryhard xD
I think you already checked our entry :3

Developer(+1)

Yeah it's a jam game so most people will only play it for a few minutes, so I did not want to make it too hard.

good call ;)

This is probably one of my favourite titles I’ve played yet. I love this!

If you could check out my submission here, that would be great! https://lilopkins.itch.io/oil-me-up

Developer

Thank you! That is amazing! I'll have time to check out your game later today.

the sound effects for digging and gathering are quite pleasing - i thought the game was quite relaxing

good work

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I actually spent quite some time with the sound effects to make sure they would be distinct and would not become boring or irritating.

Submitted(+1)

if you could also check out our game that would be great!

This is great!

Developer

Thank you SO much!

Great work for the game jam! for me (im colourblind) i found it quite confusing when finding materials so i mined everywhere and and anywhere but good job!

Developer(+1)

oh yeah I guess my game is horribly inaccessible. I wanted to use different materials but could not get that done in time, I'm sorry. Thanks for playing my game though! :)

Submitted(+1)

haha no bother, there's only 48 hours but its still good work though! its why in my jam the colours are very garish

Submitted(+1)

Reminds me of Terraria. Great Work!

Feel free to check out my game as well: https://mark-auman.itch.io/give-and-you-shall-receive

Developer

Thanks! I'll check it out later today!

I was really digging it (heh) then i got the diamond crash. Nice work!

Submitted(+1)

Nice concept, fun to dig around. I ran into an error that crashed the game when I mined some diamonds, unfortunately. Really nice graphics.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I posted a fix to that already, but still thanks for notifying me about that and for playing my game!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, really good game and impressive for 48 hours. should have called it Yogventures haha

Developer

Thank you! Haha good idea. The current title is actually a Shadow of Israphel reference, which I though was pretty cool! :)

Submitted(+1)

Really satisfying mining sounds! Would be good if you could hold left-click to keep mining?

Developer(+1)

That is a really good idea actually, and it would have been super easy to add as well. Well I guess it's too late now, but I'll remember that for my next game jams. Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

No problem! Glad I could help!

Submitted(+1)

I liked the game :) It crashed once, after I got my hand on the 3rd upgrade, but I played it again, until I get all upgrades. It's all in all a good game and enjoyable to play =)

Submitted(+1)

This was a pretty fun game. Managed to get to the diamond and I'm glad you posted the cut scene in the comments so I got a chance to see the ending. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I appreciate it! :)

Submitted(+1)

This is amazing! Did you make this alone in 48 hours? Really impressive. My only critique is that the music doesn't quite fit the mood of the game in my opinion, and the perspective on the houses is off. Overall, a really solid entry.

Developer

Thank you SO much! Yes I did! Haha that seems to be a recurring problem for me, I am not a very musical person I guess.

Submitted(+1)

Wait, you made the music too??

Developer

Oh no I didn't, I got that from OpenGameArt. I just meant that I am bad at finding good music that fit my games.

NOTE: Apparently the game sometimes crashes when trying to mine a diamond. Causing you not to be able to see the final cutscene. If you want to see it, you can watch it on youtube. I also uploaded files with (only!) this bug fixed here: [Removed]. Proof on GitHub, lol.

Post Jam Note: The game used to crash when trying to mine a diamond, causing some players not to be able to see the final cutscene. I have now uploaded new files where this bug has been fixed. The rest of the game is still exactly the same.

Submitted(+1)

For what it's worth, I managed to mine the diamond and see then the version you've uploaded for the jam! Fun little game! :)
