Well, this made me giggle a lot. It brings back so many memories, and I'm not talking about the cars.

Excellently done. Had way too much fun causing chaos.
I actually DID manage to succeed. Once. I'm counting that as an achievement.
Hey, I'm the guy from who made the other game about #772. I really like that you went with a literal interpretation of the comic, and as a whole the concept works. It's fun messing around with the different ways the cars crash and how many ways you can create pileups. However, there are a few things that can be improved.
- I'd like to see multiple types of vehicles. As fun as the pileup are, they'd be far more interesting with the occasional 18 wheeler or two.
- As some people have already mentioned, it feels impossible to achieve the win condition. I didn't play it for long, but I found it impossible to cross the highway without causing a crash let alone cross the highway alive. This isn't enough to sink the game as whole because the pileups are so entertaining, but the win condition should still be achievable nonetheless
- A few extra levels wouldn't hurt. Imagine the carnage you could cause at a 4-way or a T-intersection.

Sure thing. :)
This is really fun--if you know you can't really win and have fun with the physics and concept. Luckily for me I skimmed the comments before playing and caught your thread with @Mark Kennedy below--so I went in knowing I couldn't win but I was going to have a blast.
The player who goes in expecting to win will likely be very frustrated with this. You might want to make it clear that this game isn't meant to be won, but to enjoy its comedy.
And its comedy is great! Your time spent working on the physics for the cars was totally worth it, because it's hilarious fun to see them swerve and stack up--even getting hit by a car is hilarious! Love how when you cross the street and see the wreck you've caused, Frogger hops over to it and just says, "Well, shit." That's super funny! X)
I also agree with @Mark Kennedy's suggestions for expanding this game--those are all great ideas, and I want them in this game very badly.
If I had one complaint, it's that the area of play is rather small; I would love to play this game with a bigger area, see a ton of wreckage, or maybe have a chance crossing the street safely if there's more road. Perhaps after the jam is over?
Great job on this. I really enjoyed my time with this game.
So fun. Is it even winnable? The idea is so simple, yet golden.
Feedback for expansion:
- Add audio, (mutable) like a funny hit sound or car crash sound
- New levels. Consider trucks. That explode.
- Also add semi's like in the comic!
- Maybe add some levels that are easy/scale up in difficulty.
- PLEASE ADD CO-OP.
Hardly, it's mostly just blind luck, but sometimes if you go quick enough you'll avoid disturbing the traffic flow too much and won't cause any crashes.
Thanks for the expansion feedback. I was considering the possibility of expanding, I definitely wanted to add semi trucks and other vehicles to this game but as the jam went on I realized there wouldn't be enough time before the deadline. I definitely wanted to add explosions too but I don't think I have the artistic proficiency to do that. maybe if I find a fitting xkcd-style animated explosion sprite somewhere for free.
One of the features that I came up with during development and want to add if I end up expanding is that I'll make the game take snapshots at different times during gameplay (the first time you make a car swerve, crossing the middle, crossing the end, etc), and then at the end of each scenario you get a sort of xkcd-style comic strip with three or four panels that shows the events of what happened while you were playing that round.
That makes sense.
And you're welcome. I understand the jam deadline constraint - that's always the enemy in the end. And I'm glad to hear you wanted explosions. We all do. We all do.
And the snapshot idea is genius, or even (yeah I know this a lot of work) a full replay system. It would be cool to make like gif, and then be able to upload to imgur or something.
You're on the right track, keep it up (if you want, I'm sure you have a main project to focus on, so good luck on that as well.)
Really cool display of physics in this one. Hugging the left and making a dash for it did the trick!
Cool remake of classic game with xkcd sense of humor! Btw. did anyone actually crossed the road without total traffic collapse? :)
Haha, this was quite cool and fun! I loved the behavior of the cars, and the ending!
Great job. This game is as fun as the comic made it seem like. I love the blood and tire effects.
I liked it a simple puzzle and recreation of the comic. It made me laugh! Anyway one thing I do want to mention is I'm doing a review of design on the games in this jam so here's a shameless plug to my channel if you want to be notified of the vid when released: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Vj46GGL9VMUvd4YTMtjXg
