Very charming character sprite! I also thought the dripping bits from the icicles was a nice touch. The wind effect on the broken eggs(?) was very nice to look at as well.

I had fun, but I actually think you could make it a little more difficult! I play a lot of action platformers so maybe that's just the numbness of constantly dying in them (:P) but I bet you could get away with some fun "surprises" with the icicles and wind mechanic especially.

Another thing I found fun was trying to arc the fireballs correctly. That was really well implemented, I felt like I was learning the appropriate timing and trajectory to use to hit distant targets. Maybe a door switch or "turret" enemy could make use of that?

Great job, had fun! <3

Fun game very interesting idea!

Level design was well done

Music was good

Art was good

Difficulty was also pretty well balanced.

A bit buggy. I channeled the attack ability and it got stuck sometimes.

Pretty fun game! Loved the dark level, it was an interesting idea. I think that with some more time you can make an awesome game out of this. Nice work :)

Developer

Thanks! Gave your game a try too! Very nice entry and well done!

Neat demo. Would have happily played for longer.

I really liked the art style, lighting and general aesthetic of the game.

To improve, I would suggest spending a bit more time on level design. I felt that more could have been done with the using fire as a light source mechanic in the demo.

Overall, a strong submission.

Nice little game.

What I really like is your character, a cute little feetless fire mage, and the physics. When I shot a fireball into the wind and it flew up it was pretty nice and interesting. I think this is a mechanic that should be used more often to solve little puzzles.

In general I think a puzzle approach could work really well for this game. The combat was rather easy, I just shot everything and didn't get hit once, but using the fireball was fun, although it could charge up a little faster. It's nice that the fireball is not just flying in a straight line, instead it acts like an arrow that gets pushed down again. I like that. Maybe do more with it. Random idea: make an enemy with a hit point on his back and the only way to hit him is by using the fireball physic because your are underneath him.

What I missed was more feedback like when I hit the spikes and nothing happens or a death animation. And you should give your fireball a light source to make a it illuminate a dark room a bit. It would be really cool in the level with the darkness when you shoot a fireball and you see what is around the fireball.

Overall nice game. Well done!

I liked it alot the pixel art in this game is amazing the level design is top notch one complaint however the game length its a game jam yes it should be short yes, then why am I upset? because I loved your game I simply wanna play every bit of it and you left me somewhat at a cliffhanger 5/5 for everything!

Nice little game! Liked pixel art!

Very nice graphics and fun gameplay! Such a pity that there is no bossfight i would have liked to see it!

I would really appreciate if you tried and rated my game too :)

The artwork and overall level design looked really good. The fireball charging mechanic also worked well with that satisfying click to let the player know it was charged and ready to shoot. I think some animation or particle effects on the enemies dying would really go a long way. Also some more backstory would help because the atmosphere was great but didn't have much meaning behind it. Hope you keep working on this because it's an awesome start to a cool game!

I think the general idea is good, I felt it was a tad generic without any real objective or backstory, however simple ("reach the end, don't die"). The movement feels a bit slow for my taste. I like the fireball charging stuff though.

I don't think I've ever seen that type of projectile system in a game, very interesting. the level design was quite meh, it would have been cool if you had used the 'inner fire' lighting up in darkness more.

Very Cool Game, I Love The Time It Take To Finish It Is Pretty Short As Is Usually Good For Game Jam, Great Game Overall!

This game has a lot of of potential. I'm glad it is to be continued. I immediately loved the tactile feel of the fireball. The multi-use implementation is quite good. I was hoping for more content and level progression so I'm looking forward to future iterations.

Awesome graphics, but felt like I could just run past all the challenging parts of the game.

Quite fun

I like how it's not too difficult. This is actually the only game so far that I've gotten to the end of

Cute little sidescroller, controls feel good and lighting looks great!  One thing I'd say is that the fire mechanics don't feel like it fits "multi-use" that well since they're functionally unrelated.  If they used the same button or were limited by a shared resource for example, I think that would introduce more interesting design and gameplay challenges.

Cool little trip! Nice graphics, especially the main character.

A greater variety of enemies and more uses for the flame would have been interesting.

Overall the challenge level felt low. I could see that there were supposed to be moments when I would have to be careful not to hit the spike hazards, but in practice it was never difficult. Tuning difficulty is, of course, notoriously difficult with a short jam... and when in doubt, making the game too easy is usually the way to go, so that players can have a chance to fully experience it.

The music is nice, but note that it doesn't loop.

Super good, clearnest and most technically adept game I've played in the jam so far.  Good music, good pixelart. Good job!

I really liked the updrafts, they were fun.

Took me awhile to figure out that I had to charge my fireballs. Didn't see much use for the flame within, the level it's needed for is short and mostly a straight path, I didn't need to see, or I could just light torches.

The fireball also feels really good to fling. Good job guys!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words and for playing! I would have liked to have more levels, and more reasons to use the flame within too! We had hoped to add a boss fight in the end, but alas this is as far as we got!
