Nice game! I was skeptical that a 3d game would actually work in a browser, but it did extremely well. Loved the plane fights. Reminded me of a game I played long ago, "Hunt for the Red Baron". The auto-flying here meant I had to focus only on lateral movement. Still, this was hard enough. Couldn't complete the game end-to-end, but did complete each part. Nice touch to add the option of going directly to the boss battle. Good job overall!

Ok I played it again and finished the game. Confess I did roll spam as reported by folks here. But felt good to finish!

This is so cool! I love the sound effects and the models are all great. Your controls are intuitive and this is one of the best uses of the wildcards I've seen. You make me want to try out the 3d side of godot.

Developer

Thanks heaps! Godot really makes the transition to 3D quite easy, all the basics are the same, just with an extra dimension. The part i struggled with the most was 3D modelling (especially animations in blender) but asset forge has made that so much better for me, a programmer.

Those plane controls are smooth and awesome!

Developer

Thanks! I thought so too :)

Submitted(+1)

the controls are super smooth, well done bud! models are great and good use of the wild cards

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Turns out there's a lot of factors that contribute to how controls feel, Thanks for playing!

Awesome 3D graphics, great controls and sound. Is the code available on github?

Developer

I don't generally post the code to my games (mainly because I'm never sure about licenses etc), but if there's something in particular you're after I'd be happy to help :)

Realy Fun, The controls are very smooth.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it :)

As a flying game it is great, especially since it is running in the browser with flawless performance.

Developer

Yeah I was a bit worried as it was getting closer to the finished date, I hadn't tested it in the browser at all, or done any optimizing. But when i uploaded it, it performed great first try, which was a huge relief! Thanks for playing!

Fun game with super easy controls. I did run into a problem where if you hold down the barrel roll the audio bugs out though. Besides that, it felt flawless!

Developer

Ah I had not tested that, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I believe it was an issue on my end after further testing.

A little hard to avoid the shots from the normal ships, as they came from a lower point and they were visually blocked the player ship. Other than that... very good work! I enjoyed the starfox feeling :D The sound was also nice. Beat those rats!!

Developer

Agree completely, one of those problems I just didn't have time to nut out, thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Ship controls fantastically and it was fun game. Good job.

Developer

Thanks! I spent lots of time on that aspect :)

Submitted(+1)

the animation of the ship is super smooth! reminds me of my childhood when I played Star Fox ^^

Developer(+1)

It was one of my favorites growing up, but I always thought it was difficult to aim with a joy stick, so I wanted to see what it was like with a mouse :) Thanks for playing!

Very cool graphics and controls are very satisfying! It could be better though if fears were something more like fears rather than space ships, I find it a bit confusing :)

Developer

The Boss was meant to look like a rat which was the dreamers fear, but if i had some more time i would've changed the smaller enemies to more resemble rats, as well as add some different types of enemies to create some variety. Thanks for playing!

Very cool 3D graphics! And the controls feel very good! Good job!

Very interesting little game! I loved the music and sfx. You used Asset Forge for this - how did you find it? I had trouble with it the first time I tried it out, but it's probably gotten better since that time (was very early in the creation process from Kenney). I had some trouble dodging stuff until I remembered about barrel rolls, and then it seems like I didn't really get hit very much. I found it harder to aim, but probably just need to get used to it. The game was very fun and interesting, and for a first-time GWJer, stellar submission!

Developer(+1)

Asset Forge is amazing for jams and prototypes for a couple reasons, it's fast to make many assets and everything matches visually. It has received quite a few updates since I've owned it and it feels quite complete. I've only had a few crashes but never lost any progress. Yeah I was a bit bogged down at the end with all the final parts of the game like the menus and chapters, I didn't have time to go over balance, it would have been smart to send it to friends to test part way through but I've learned that for next time :) Thanks for playing!

That's really cool! I'll have to go back and try Asset Forge again. Thanks for mentioning you used it!

A very great game, the graphics, music and gameplay are nice. The flying is so smooth but the barrel rolls while cool are overpowered. I really enjoyed this. Well done!

Developer

Yeah one of those things just didn't have time to test and refine, thanks for stopping by and playing!

Nice graphics. Liked that there's an option to start at the boss. Thanks for sharing!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

- Theme:  Tie in is through narrative

- Fun:  The core loop was clear

- Controls: The ship handled well and the options for barrel rolls felt good. The camera feels maybe too low of an angle or it could just be there's not enough visibility on projectiles and enemies.  Either way, the end result is that it's sometimes hard to see the projectiles to avoid

- Graphics:  I really liked all of the graphics and the vaporwave aesthetic fit it well. The VFX fit it well too

- Audio:  Good balance of music and SFX

- A11y:  Having the option to start from a specific part of the mission was an excellent idea.

- Originality:  Good foundation for a game, would love to see the concept developed more

Developer

Thanks for the thorough review! Definitely agree the camera needs adjusting, was just one of those things ran out of time for :)

Great fun game. I like the retro feel. Nice touch offering a skip-to-boss option on player death. Well done.

Developer(+1)

It can be time consuming getting to the boss for a retry and I didn't want anyone to miss out on any of the game, thanks for playing!

Man, I love low poly games like this when they're done right. I played through the whole thing. I feel like the barrel roll is really overpowered, I got through the whole thing spamming barrel roll haha.  SPOILER ALERT:

I love how the rat boss was a ship shaped like a rat's face!

Developer

thanks for playing! Yeah the barrel roll invincibility time is a bit too long, but I was cautious about making it too hard, looks like I made it too easy haha
