This was soo good! The jump animation fluidity caught me off guard, all the audio was stellar, and the progression through the stages was really well put together! I think the controls might be able to be improved, I'd probably go with Arrows: move, F: jump, D: dash, but that's just preference. Awesome job! Boss track was fire!

Developer(+1)

You're so right about the controls! I meant to have SHIFT be the dash, cause that was most comfortable for me, but testing it out in-browser it wasn't functional. I ended up defaulting to click without too much thought. Next jam I'll prioritize clean controls.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the game!

Wish there were an easy mode! The sheep running animation made me want to keep going though.

Developer

I am still kicking myself about the difficulty lol. I'm so glad you enjoyed the sheep's animations, I've grown quite fond of this sheep.

the fact that the music boss is a remake of mr sandman from The Chordettes just made me happy xD. you are a man of culture. the whole game is a reference to the music!

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed the music! I actually had my dad make the music, all I told him was "metal" and he came through with an absolute gem. The song gave me so much inspiration, especially for the second phase of the fight.

Submitted(+1)

It's absolutely brilliant!

This is a really fun idea! Music and art are great too. You definitely weren't lying about it being difficult though lol. I'd be more willing to keep attempting the second phase of the boss if the first phase didn't take like 10 hits to get through.

The controls feel a little clunky though, there were a lot of times where I'd be charging a jump, start moving in a direction, then lose my jump since I released space bar just as I was walking off a ledge (A few frames of coyote time would help a lot I think).

Overall, great job!

Developer(+1)

I totally agree, I've done coyote time before and I don't know why it slipped my mind this time! Thank you so much for your feedback

OK, I beheld the true power once, that's enough for me. The graphics are sick though, definitely one of the best in this jam.

Developer

I'm glad you liked the graphics!! I realize I made the fight pretty tough for a game jam, I'm glad you got to see the laser!

  • Theme:  Tie in through sheep  and narrative
  • Fun:   Having a charge to jump mechanic was different, and it fit the narrative
  • Controls: The controls were fine, but having a separate jump squat animation would help to learn more quickly that you're charging a jump.
  • Graphics:  The intro scene especially was cool, and the effect on the sandman sand was neat
  • Audio:  Great boss fight track
  • A11y:  Could definitely use additional visual indicators, but the audio indicator on the gem was a good addition
  • Originality:  No feedback
Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! I agree that visual indicators and a better tutorial would be super useful.

Please make it a mobile game ! It doesn't matter if you make the counting part or the entire platforming / boss fight, Just make it possible. The game just kept getting better and better, the flow and animations crispiness, controls feelings ... oh my lord ! My brohter, don't need luck in this one

Developer(+1)

I've never made a mobile game before! I would love to though. I'm so glad you liked my game

I love the game but that were a little bit hard to understand how the gem mechanic works you may explain it on the tutorial and i'm not fan of the jump system and the choice of the controls keys. I only talk about the bad things to say what it could be inproved for me but i really liked the game gg !

Developer(+1)

Yep, including the controls would have been helpful for sure, I did originally have a button for dash, but the web export would not register it so I had to swap to the mouse button.

Submitted(+1)

Couldn't beat the sandman. Was knocking around that blue gem but not sure what to do with that. The graphics and intro kept me playing.

Developer

I should have had a visual indicator for your progress for sure, the first phase is just pretty long.

I actually had trouble much earlier on, but may have done it wrong. I did enjoy what I could play, though! I would probably include the arrow keys as movements and make something other than click be dash (or also have a button for dashing). I found myself unable to do things correctly because I'm just uncoordinated.

Developer(+1)

The click definitely feels unintuitive I agree, thank you so much for your feedback!

Fun game. I like when games turn out to be more than they look at first. I couldn't get past the sandman though so not sure how much it goes beyond that.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! There's a second phase to the fight and then an end screen when you've defeated him, so you didn't miss out on too much.
