I like the idea executed here. The game could look more alive by adding some detailed tiled images for water, instead of solid blue color. You can keep improving the environment to make it look good and keep the mechanics untouched as they felt solid while playing. Good job for a 48hr project!

Feel free to hop into my game as well, and share your rating and comments if you have the time!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! I'll definitely try to improve the water, thanks for the suggestion!

Cool concept! It would be cool if there was a little more life to the game, e.g. if the player moved around and maybe even built stuff, or if there was more variation in the obstacles, but I definitely know that 2 days isn’t long for stuff like this. Good job :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah definitely, I have a good basis for a game can't wait to see how this will turn out once I complete the development. Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

Personally, I would make the game shorter, but increased the difficulty over time. Like adding bigger rock, that form tight openings. Maybe even increase the difficulty by adding more sharks, but then player needs some way to lead them away like with some bait or someting.

But when I was at low health the game was tense, so good job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! I think the duration of the game was fine, it's just that it didn't get harder as time goes by and has little mechanics so it just gets repetitive and boring. So yeah thank you for your suggestions, I'll definitely keep those in mind.

Super solid idea. I enjoyed the game quite a bit and I would be really interested to see what it would be like if you continued development on it! Nice job.

Developer

Thank you, and thanks for playing! Definitely planning to continue the development of this and see how it goes.

Nice job!  Very simple so I'm not sure I have any feedback since everything works as expected, most of what I'd suggest has been mentioned in other comments.  Great job getting something finished and submitted though, keep learning!

Thank you! And thank you also for playing!

Simple game, but interesting reference to the Raft and good work!

Thank you! Thanks for playing!

Good start to a game, but the world definitely feels a bit empty at the moment. One relatively simple thing that might liven the game up a lot would be to have some kind of moving texture for the water. When I started I didn’t realize I was moving until the first rock appeared. Adding animations/interactions could also make things more visually interesting. I could imagine a system where the crates and planks stick to the side of the raft when you run into them, and the little guy would run over and grab them. That might make it feel more like you are controlling the raft and getting the guy to safety, while he does his own thing, rather than potentially just controlling a guy sailing a raft.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! Actually what you said about the little guy moving and stuff was actually one of my ideas in this game but I'm still a newbie and I didn't know how to code that in GDevelop (the engine I use). So I'll try to figure that out and thank you for the suggestions!

The gameplay is neat but gets repetitive fast, I like the reference to the game Raft (at least I'm pretty sure that's what's being referenced here) but the art's not great and I couldn't tell the difference between planks and food, and there's not much done with the concept. Still, though, there's room for improvement. Add a few more mechanics so it doesn't get repetitive, fix the art, and do more with the concept (perhaps the person reshapes the raft which changes the hitbox), and you've got a neat game.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing and for the feedback! Yup pretty much I'm referencing about Raft since that's probably the most popular raft games out there. And yes I agree with the art with the planks and food kinda looking a bit similar, not that good of an artist yet and with limited time I did what I can lol. And based on most of the comments here, this game falls short but has a lot of potential and I'm glad some people are actually giving me constructive criticism to help me improve the game, so thank you for that!

Simple but fun game, I did find it a bit easy though (made it to the island first try). I think that increasing the speed of the raft after a bit of time could make the game more challenging and improve the pacing. At some point I was brushing along the top and hit an obstacle, it was most likely a shark, so I think you could check which side of the screen the player is on before spawning a shark (top and bottom) rather than only spawning from the top. I think there's definitely a lot you can do with this idea, and you have a good foundation so far to build upon. Good work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! And yea this game was too easy. And also now that you mentioned it, I have no idea why I didn't think to make the sharks spawn at the bottom too lol, would've made the game a little bit challenging. But anyways, will do that once I have the time to expand this game. Thank you again for the suggestion!

the idea is good but kinda weak implementation... Art is ok and music is decent.

Needs polish though.

It's nice to see that GDevelop is growing quickly.

Good work :)

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! And yea I agree this game falls a bit short, planning to expand this concept a bit but I'm very proud what I've have made in 48 hours considering this is my first time making a game with only two days. (And also yes GDevelop is a very cool game engine)

Charming little game! I think you could've done more with the concept, there's plenty of games where you controls the raft, perhaps you could controlled the waves, allowing you to push boxes towards yourself, push away sharks and control the raft, I think it would make for a slightly more engaging game.

That being said the game functions really well and is balanced great making for an overall alright experience, well done!

Developer(+1)

Ooo that is quite a good idea. I do agree that I could've done more with the concept, but this theme stumbled me a little lol. Pretty hard to think of something unique with this theme, I assumed that there will be a lot of games that involves the player being the enemy and trying to kill the main character so I tried to think of something else and this is what I've thought of lol. But anyways, thank you for playing and for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Not bad, not bad. Was a little too easy though.

Developer

Haha yea,  planning to expand this concept and make more enemies and stuff. Thank you for playing!

At first I thought I was supposed to crash! Had a lot of fun, very creative idea!

Developer

Thank you! Thanks for playing!

Rather good idea and fun too! The only thing I would change is the art but all in all, Well Done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! And yeah I'll definitely will try to improve the art, especially the wood that gives you life, it looks terrible XD

Submitted(+1)

I felt like the game was relatively simple but definitely solid. I would love to see the concept expanded a bit more as it got monotonous relatively quickly - maybe some more different enemies/obstacles/...
I felt like the hitboxes of the obstacles were a bit large at times but that could be only my feeling. Overall I enjoyed it, well done! :)

Developer

Yeah exactly what you said is what I felt when I literally played the game the second time lol. And yeah as for the hitboxes, I'll probably make it a little bit smaller cuz rn it'll definitely hit you even you just touch a pixel of the rocks and sharks lol. Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

(+1)

Great basis for a game! Well done, you should keep developing this concept!

Developer

Wow yeah I was actually planning to expand this game when the jam ends cause I had a lot of  ideas going on for this game but I had to scrap some since there's only 48 hours to make it lol. So yeah I'm definitely planning to come back to this game and also of course, thank you for playing!
