Really charming! We had the same idea pitched in our group so it's fun to see the game running! Really liked it, didn't run in to any bugs or problems that I could tell. I have to say though, that's quite the mean lose screen :)
thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! ^^
Cool concept. It makes it very tactical thinking about when you will unwolf.
Nice concept of the theme of this game-jam
The werewolf was awesome/ really liked that. The art was really nice and i enjoyed playing but the controls were a bit floaty in the jumps.
Thanks!
I had originally wanted to do a Mario-style jump, where you fall faster than you rise, but I didnt know how to do that in a physics-based game engine. Guess that was my trade-off for using a game engine that let me get it done on time, but I hope I can make the jump feel tighter in any post-jam version
game felt fun to play, cool concept. I image if you had more time this would have been an awesome game! Good stuff!
Nice game ! Gg for all the level design :D
Hey that's a really cool mechanic you have there. Fun game! You should totally develop this further.
Haha! Nice take on the theme! Cool graphics and audio! I felt like in some places I could plan for my wolf form, but for others, it was just up to RNG to decide if I succeed or fail.
Thank you!
RNG-wise, there aren't any points in the game that require good RNG. There is one bonus life (at the very end) where RNG is needed after collecting it, but that's the only spot, and no required paths need it. It's probably still my fault, as I didn't communicate very well how the shifting mechanic chooses its movement
Yeah. I could swear there's strategy behind it. Cool game!
had fun, didnt felt that you had a late start :)
Love your knight sprite! Good mario style mechanics.
Thanks, I made it in, like, a minute, lol
This game is really clever!! I really got caught of guard when the werewolf form was targetting the enemy above you, it was clever use of that mechanic! The platforming feels pretty good to do too. I love this concept and if it had more different transformations with different trade-offs that would be really cool!
Thanks!
A couple people have suggested the multiple transformations, so if I make a post-jam version, I'll definitely add that feature!
well done game, the theme was there in an elegant way, pretty smart how you loose control as a werewolf, makes a lot of sense. nice potential puzzle adventure game. The concept of lives is ok, since you have to do something extra to the main path to get them, it makes a little high risk high reward. but having lives might loose the some less patient players when they loose to the game, i think a good work around could be keys to unlock the next level, or to keep the feeling of high risk high reward, maybe a star system, so you get better score if you pick all the stars, or maybe some cosmetics or fancy stuff to give more value to the gameplay, idk. But great work, keep it up!
I originally had the hearts as gems, meant as bonus points, and switched them to lives to add a bit more challenge, but looking back, I do think I should have kept them as extra collectibles. Maybe even could have added a secret ending for getting them all.
Thanks for your feedback!
Pretty good game! I think it's really original, I like the visual art. You made a nice job. Keep creating games!
This game makes me go YES! Love the art!
Thank you so much!
And, just so you're aware; I didn't make most of the art. I used a premade tile-set, and its probably pretty obvious which assets came from the tile-set, and which I made during the jam
neat concept, one of my fav. wish you had time to add animations, these design looked so nice.
thank you so much!
I would have loved to add animations, but I worked alone this year, no artist (aside from using a premade tile-set for the blocks). It'll probably just have to be one of those post-jam additions
Super interesting use of a werewolf mechanic! It took a few deaths to understand the mechanics, but it was fun when i did!
thanks!
Yeah, it seems my biggest drawback in my design was not putting enough effort into a tutorial level. I'm glad people are sticking around long enough to figure it out
I played this on my stream, fun game and good concept! Keep at it!
Thanks again for playing it on stream! I love being able to watch people play through my games, especially the puzzles; really helps game development to get some fresh eyes that haven't already solved the puzzles 30 times during testing, lol
Nice job on this cute and fun little retro platformer. I liked the overall aesthetic and vibe. The idea that you can control when you turn into the werewolf, but not what it does after that is interesting. It mixes together the idea of 'out of control' without becoming frustrating. Although I did get stuck in level 2 where I couldnt get through the long section of spikes since the werewolf would never get to the other side, it would stop and spin in the middle or move and come all the way back. Also I think less jump height would make the platforming more fun too. Overall I did really like it and was impressed, nice job!
A hint for the long spike section: the werewolf is trying to follow the enemy above you, so you need to time your shift with the enemy to get to the other side at the right time to shift back. I realized after the deadline that how that mechanic works wasn't super clear.
Thank you for your feedback! I'll keep it in mind if I make a follow up game based off of this!
