I really like the concept you're going for. I think it could be really fun if you are able to finish it!
I like how you tied cellular automata into the gameplay, it really lets that fire get out of control. I think my biggest criticism would be that if I'm given a control in a game, I think there should always be a reason to release that control. There isn't really a reason not to be release water at all times in this which makes me wonder why it isn't just toggled on all the time in the first place.
definitely good feedback. I am a fairly new developer and so I ran out of time but that was the very next piece I wanted to implement: a supply of water and a place you have to return to in order to fill up.
Thanks!
Nice, i like the idea. Would be interesting in mobile if we could use the tilt of the phone to control the plane.
It's fun and give a really cool retro vibes !
Oh no the trees!
The minimap is really... mini ^^
I think the game fits the theme well and plays quite nicely but I think that you've NAILED the visual style. I love everything about how the game looks.
Excellent art, and I hope to see a finished version of this game! I would like to be able to more easily tell what each tile was, either through visuals or explanation at the start. Good job!
I really liked this! I have a pretty big love for low rez games. There's a lot that could be added to gameplay, like maybe missions where you save certain buildings or a certain amount of the map, maybe even only having a certain amount of the fire stopper! but it's really easy to say that when core mechanics are so polished like this one!
It fits the theme great. The art is nice. It is a simple but well-executed game, well done :)
This game makes me go YES! I like the visuals.
Thanks so much!
Great retro graphics and easy to get distracted with, but needs more gameplay.
Thanks for the kind words. I agree It needs more gameplay, I may take some extra time to add the last couple of features I didn't get finished by Sunday.
Got the start of something really cool here! Even without resource management or a real end state, the core loop of flying around and dropping water is very enjoyable! Definitely keep working on this one
Thanks Joe! I hope to get those other bits added in.
Cool concept. Seeing how quickly those fires grow and how futile it was to try to directly put it out really re-framed forest fires for me lol. It was definitely out of control.
Yeah that was part of the development process as well. Slowly realizing it was more interesting to try and control/route the fire vs directly putting it out became more interesting.
Really like the idea, hope you finish it after the jam as I'd love to play more :)
Thanks Dan! I appreciate the comment
It's a shame this couldn't be finished in time, but for what you have here it's pretty good!
Thanks! Yeah I was a bit bummed out when I realized I wasn't going to get it where I wanted. Still learned a lot.
Take heart: at least there's something akin to a game in this. I didn't have the time to make my wildfire simulator into an actual game like originally planned.
Haha! Thanks! Your sim is crazy cool. I almost pivoted to this when I realized just how much fun it was tinkering with my fire's spreading mechanics.
It look's interesting, it's a shame that you weren't able to finish it at time :(... Anyway, better luck next time!
Thanks Richard! Still learned a lot. New to Unity and C#, but I'll do better next time.
