I like games use gameplay and mechanics to tell a story.

I make one myself:

And want more from you guys!

I will play all of them and give comment s!

Post your narrative-heavy game here!

There.

I'll go give yours a play.

Cool game, especially like the pixel art in it!

A bit too much reading for my English level thoughT_T

Nekroheroine II is a text adventure where you have a a collection of one-use items. Mostly reading. Hope you like. 💀🗡️ 🖤 https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463100

You made a real narrative-heavy game!

Because of my bad English, it's a bit out of my range...I need a dictionary here...lol

Submitted

Aw, sorry! Yes, my team was basically a designer and a writer, so we were heavy on the writing.

Submitted

Nooo...I'm sorry...for giving a narrative-heavy game post while not a native English speaker...T_T

I enjoy reading sometimes when it's in languages I am familiar with, so I believe some one will enjoy it!

I think if you can add some SE or BGM or illustrations in it, that would be more friendly to player who is not very used to read like me.

Our game is primarily story driven, where players learn about each environment by drawing it into existence; https://portrait-prophecies.itch.io/while-the-whole-world-laughs

It has many flaws(like a GameJam game should be...) but still, one of my favrourite game in this Jam for now!

I made two games this GTMK jam. The first is a social anxiety during networking simulator

It's narrative focused!

3D Unity Game: You wake up alone in a dark mansion. You cannot leave the place, yet something seems to lurk in the dark. Is it after you? Probably...

Ours has multiple endings if you can get them https://chibidenden.itch.io/one-love

Submitted

I tried...But I can't even get to the ending...

Sorry...

Besides, I think maybe removing the timer would help the story-telling of your game^_^

I need time to pick out the right girl!

Submitted

Yeah it's kinda tough to nail the difficulty on these kind of stuff ^^"
I hope you'll give it some more tries, thanks for playing! =]

So our game is a story about a guy who is trapped inside his own head. We used the theme as ONLY ONE character so  he talks to himself and needs to overcome his own negativity.

Here's the game page https://late-panda.itch.io/head-ache
and here's the rating page https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461532

NOTE: You can play it in the browser or download it for windows but it requires a keyboard.

I've made a game called If, is an Gameboy RPG narrative based game. My only one's were: one action button, one character, one place, one enemy, one NPC and one battle.

The game's synopsis: In If, player controls Penny a pilot who set off on a journey to find Des her partner in the archaeological site El Zotz.

Simple game: just follow the directions :~)

Nice job!

Looks like your game and mine share the same concept, but using totally different design.

Yeah, played it and rated it!

I started feel nervous when 3 questiond pop up in the same time!

thank you!

Sorry, no graphics on this one, just a basic text adventure. It's not too long but I guess you could say it's "narrative-heavy" given that the only game play is the story :D

It's a real narrative-heavy game!

It's a bit too hevay for my English level though...T_T

Oh well :T

My one is a weird one, but the idea is that it's a play where you need to remind the actors of the lines they keep on forgetting. It's narrative heavy in that you do actually watch the play. It's not a very serious narrative and I kind of ran out of time near the end... But I think it's pretty good for a first jam!

Yeah! I think it is pretty good for the first jam too!

Congrats!

Finally the chance I needed. Here, take one chance to dive into these weird guy memories.

Only if you're ready, of course.

I will sure make time to investigate all these stories being posted on here.

Mine is about the mystery of an infinite wall built by three kings, you read messages as you climb it placed by those who came before, and those who built it.
