Thanks for the feedback, about the beginning you are absolutely right. After seeing calmly I realized how confusing the story begins.

I see, my only one were: one action button, one character, one place, one enemy, one NPC and one battle, as far as I could think in the 48 hours these were the only "only one" I could put into an RPG shell.

About the battle, it was the best I could do in the simple engine I used.

Thanks for the feedback

I've made a game called If. It's an Gameboy RPG narrative based game. My only one's were: one action button, one character, one place, one enemy, one NPC and one battle.

I believe that in any work there will be room for improvement, the points raised were well validated. Much of the problem for me were caused by the tool I use. My first contact with it was this Jam, I used GMTK Jam to learn how to use. And I also believe that if the game is better sharpened it can get better.

My game has a turn battle system. I hope you enjoy.

Yes, a lot, basic logic flows turned into colorful giant blocks.  It worked well enough, I would not recommend it to anyone to play medium or large game on it. But I would recommend just experimenting, for this case I think it is worth to know more.

The point is that it is not programming, there is logic, but there is no writing. GB Studio is a mix of Scretch, or any visual programming app, and RPG Maker. It was a lot of work to do a system status and a battle system in the game, but I manage to do it.

This is also my first Game Jam, I've started others before but never ended. For this year's GMTK Jam I chose to work with an engine that I had never worked before but since the announcement caught my attention, GB Studio.

The development was really fun because Friday, day 1st, it was my first day opening the software. It was literally a blind journey.

My name is Gabriel Sansigolo (@G_Sansigolo), I am a Master in Applied Computing  by the Brazilian's National Institute for Space Researchand a technologist in Systems Analysis and Development. I am a writer, completed NaNoWriMo last year and a freelance colorist. I have been developing games since the beginning of 2017, but this was my first game jam.

My game for this Jam was also my first published game, at this new stage in my life developing games. I have a past developing RPGs in RPG Maker. Since the beginning of the year I'm developing Red Moon of April, a Visual Novel RPG. The game's synopsis: After losing hope, Kohime can walk and move her arms again. Putting her tragedy away, Kohime riding her Metal Knight set off in a month journey. If you want to see more, check out: @RedMoonVN.

For GMTK Jam I've made a game called If, an Gameboy RPG narrative based game. The game's synopsis: In If, player controls Penny a pilot who set off on a journey to find Des her partner in the archaeological site El Zotz.

My game being from Game Boy, rom / emulator to play, is all pixel art style. I hope it helps you.

Thanks. 'm very glad you liked it.

Att,

I see, how strange.

About the distance between the stats screen and the battle: You're right, it was too big. I just realized next to the last playtest.

Anyway I'm very glad you liked it.

Att,

I uploaded the wrong zip when generating the web build. You can play here if you want.

For my game If (https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461616), an Gameboy RPG game, started with: one action button, one character and one place.

In the end finish with one action button, one character, one place, one enemy, one NPC and one battle.

Hello everyone!

It was a lot of fun joining this year's Jam.

Here's my game:

https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461616

It's a Gameboy RPG called If, so the game feature: one action button, one character, one place, one enemy, one NPC and one battle.

Thanks for the tip friend.

The Jam's theme was "Just One" so the game feature: one action button, one character, one place, one enemy, one NPC and one battle.
