woah, great spooky game!! I love how the reloading mechanic makes for some really tense, timing intensive puzzles. one time i got killed by two enemies  back-to-back and it played the death music twice, which felt appropriately punishing, haha.

Great game! I loved the soundtrack and the graphics. Good job!

Love the Lovecraft reference! I also thought the concept of manually reloading was really cool and added to the tension of the gameplay loop.

I like the game over screen! (Yes, that's the reason why I died so many times) But, how can I pass level two..I tried few strategies, but none of them works. And.. the ceilings in level 1 are kinda weird. I have not noticed  them until I died several times. Maybe adding a outline will work.

Thanks for the feedback! If you struggle while shooting the 'hive' (the enemy that spawns insects and rats), the key is to shoot the hive as much as you can, then go back to the safe place between the two flowers before the red colour effect begins. Then you wait until the effect ends and repeat.

If the issue is with the jumping section, you just need to wait until the colour effect ends, and start jumping, so you have enough time to get to the other side.

About the ceiling, it make sense to have an outline.  We'll fix that in the post jam version.

I need more ammo! haha its really difficult to get past the first level without more then 5 shots and not being able to jump properly. That might be a bit much for level one.

you should really consider easy level design building up into stuff that is harder and harder with the type of mechanics you are running. That or have 1 bullet always kill whatever its hitting. because if 3 rats spawn, its impossible to kill all three then jump without dying.

Developer

We always want more ammo! Haha.

Thank you for the deep feedback! The key to beat the first level is to wait on the safe places to reload ammunition and for the right moment to go the next safe place (rats don't spawn or move if they are outside camera). The projectile has knockback, so you can buy a bit of time in case of an emergency. Jumping over a rat is possible too, but dangerous lol. I think rats having 1 HP would be too easy... We'll try different things for the post jam version!

I even didn't finish the first level! Hahah

But tha experience was amazing. I really love platform games. Nicely done, dude. Great job!

Developer

No worries, thanks for the feedback anyway haha. What did you struggle with?

Submitted(+1)

Now I got that we can reload! I got the 4th level. But struggle in the final when we have two skeletons running in opposite side. Always dieing there! Haha

Good job.

Very hard and cool game! I like the fact that the palette and the rhytm of the music change with the environment. It was really hard but i managed to finish the browser version (The giant enemy was scary.)

Developer

Thanks for your comment! Yep, the musician did a really good job with the music. We had a third colour on the first build, but it was too confusing and we couldn't test it enough, so it was removed on the second version. We'll add it again on the post jam version (and a more difficult giant enemy, so it will be even more scary!).

Really cool art style and love your idea of swapping color palette as part of the game mechanics. The level design is also engaging and reminds me of the draw of the original castlevania game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Swapping the color palette was the main thing when we created the game, glad you liked it.

Using the color palette changes to telegraph the lasers was very clever! Solid gameplay, nice graphics, great music! A couple things could be snappier (entering doors has a delay, reloading is way too slow IMO), but overall it's a good game. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yep, loading the doors is really slow, I need to learn how to preload scenes nicely on Unity (I tried it during the jam but I got lots of bugs). About the reloading, it was even slower before lol.

Stellar game (pun intended). I love the graphics and the music is very nice.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it.

Developer

Thank you for all the feedback! The second level is indeed too hard, so I added a new version (v1.0.1 [2nd level removed]) that doesn't have that level. If you want to play v1.0.0 though, you can download Windows v1.0.0.

This game is super stylish! The way it incorporates the color palette as a mechanic is really interesting. A bit on the hard side, though, I wish checkpoints had been a bit more frequent.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yep, it seems it's a bit difficult XD. We've uploaded a new version without the second level (the one with the reversed controls) in case that was the issue.

Great! I'll give it another spin once I've gone through my massive list of still-unplayed GBJAM games.

Too hard for my taste, couldn't make further than the fairy level.

Enjoyed the overall gameboy feel/graphics/sound, very polished .

100% gameboy-ness!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the second level was too hard (two people have complained about  that). We've uploaded a new version without that level.

Wow, this game is super polish, with a good puzzle advice and a perfect sound design, on the other hand it cheats a bit with the resolution ^^

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! How it cheats with the resolution? XD

Noice tight controls, stunning graphics and great music... The browser version lags a looooot, and the first insta-death pit looked like water, so I thought it was safe... but overall a great experience...

Developer

Thanks for the comment! Yes, I can see why the insta-death pit looks like water. We'll change that on the post jam version.
