Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • The combat is really fun and the upgrades you get between stages add a lot of variety. Sometimes dodging projectiles felt a little rough, but other than that I don't have any complaints.
  • Its giving Vampire Survivor but make it Asteroids! Wish the movement/turning felt more fluid, otherwise I enjoyed the roguelike elements and shipbuilding alot.
  • Wow, genuinely surprised by how fun this ended up being since shooters like this aren't usually my thing, but this was one of my favorites! Small choices here were great -- even just the zoom in at the start of the level that lets you see where enemies are starting. Great pacing and introduction of new enemies. At first I was like dang, I can only shoot from one side? But the custom ship feature realigned that belief pretty quickly! Only word of wisdom is that the music being intense the whole time can be a bit tiring and make it overall less powerful. Different track for ship customization and menu would be great.

How does the game fit into the theme?
With only your left and right arrowkeys, you must steer your ship to dodge bullets and align your weapons to blast away your enemies. You can't stop moving forward. Good luck and have fun!

Also, we're planning to expand this and put it on Steam. Check out the page here and wishlist! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3592710/Neon_Striker/

Hello!

Congratulations on this game! It's really well-designed and feels super complete. There are so many different gameplay combinations, and the difficulty is really well-balanced, it starts off easy but gradually becomes quite challenging towards the end, giving players time to build up their skills!

The controls are also great, and I really liked the ability to customize the ship. 🚀

Great game for a game jam, had a lot of fun playing it!

Really fun! I found a fun bug, you can put multiple upgrades on the same field and if you then die they are still there the next run lol

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And yeah that bug was introduced last minute when I deleted some unused code. Turns out the code had a use after all! As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I really like mechanics of this kind, and the visual style fits them well.

It was fun to play. Love how weapon works. But here is some problem with balance, drill is OP.

Cool iteration on the vampire survivor idea with the movement. Also that explosion animation is just chef's kiss! Good job! Enjoyed it.

Nice game, I would say has potential. My suggestion would be to zoom out a bit and maybe smoothen or even keep the camera static and not rotating. Love the directional weapons!

I loved how the customization worked in this game! Reminds me of the captain trilogy. I also liked the UI and art, it was very sleek and satisfying. Great job! :)

Very well done, I got all the way to Act 2 with the Speed ship and then couldn't upgrade anymore :(
Very good gameplay, easy to understand, lots of enemies and upgrades!

what a well executed idea! the upgrade / customization is what makes this game shine in my opinion. i loved synergies like using the reloader, and thinking through which weapons i want where, and how to fly to best utilize them. brilliant system design. the combat was a little frustrating to me, but is still implemented very cleanly. i'll keep coming back to this game for sure! i love using the red ship currently.

I love this! Super polished. The only problem I had with it is the camera/parallax while turning was pretty disorienting for me. I am super sensitive to stuff like that so I couldn't keep playing even though I wanted to. I really liked it though so nice job!

I love the gameplay and I can totally see this game having like an endless mode hahaha

Game is really fun, camera made me a bit dizzy an optin to toogle the camera rotation would be nice!

Besides that is pretty awesome and super well made! :)

It's very well done. It seems like it was months of work. A couple more levels and you could publish it on Steam. Very fun, I got stuck at the end and couldn't beat the boss.

This is a super cool game! Even with the simple controls, projectile and ship speeds are surprisingly well balanced, making dodging and positioning your weapons super fun. I'm really impressed with the completeness of the game. I'm particularly impressed with the ship customization and even being able to chose from multiple ships. Great job!
