Simple and nice game, had fun with it. I didn't quite understand why I wasn't shooting at times, but then I realized there was a cooldown bar on the UI xD

The hitbox dimension seems just fine, good job. Enemies seem like they have personalities, nice.

Just wished there was a better indication whenever I lost health, like some hit flashes or particles.

Developer

Thanks for the feed back, I have fixed issues based on the feedback I’ve received and will update the game in a couple of hours once the voting ends :)

Great music!!  Really liked the art too!!  Was fun to play and kind of a good balance of relaxing and challenging.  Burnout mode felt a bit slow to recharge from but was still fun to play! Great job! :D

Developer(+1)

yeah :P wanted to keep the cooldown lower but since the theme was 10 seconds… xD Thanks for trying it out!

Accidently tired her out, got really confused, read the instructions then beat the game quite easily, (on easy).
Fun little game, could use some in game explanation of the tired bar and some more feedback or effects when killing enemies. but overall satisfying experience.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! will work on improving the burnout mechanic and explaining it better

I had fun playing the game and enjoyed the little narrative elements.

I especially love the music! though there seemed to be an issue with how it was looping.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it! and yes our musician is awesome :3 will try to fix the loop issue

Nice game! Cool graphics, music and sound effects! Good job!

Developer

Thanks! :3

This was great! I loved the art, and the gameplay, and the music! It all fell really well balanced, not just "screw you" levels of difficulty right off the bat. Vesper kinda just ditched me mid fight, after I had the game paused I shot him a few times and he just left, which was very rude, but I'd probably do the same thing if I was being shot at.

Developer

haha that's one way to frame the story! we had a bit of trouble with the boss implementation, but hopefully we'll figure out a fix. thanks for playing :)

I think this is really unique among the entries for the gamejam. I love that you put in a short story and the different enemy types. It is a shame that the music does not loop properly and that the end event does not trigger. But other than that, really enjoyed it! Well done!

Developer

thank you for your kind comment! if we are able to update, we will fix the music loop and end event which includes and extension of the story. thanks for playing :)

The number and speed of the bullets on-screen is satisfyingly bullet hell-y

The almost lack of sound effects is very disturbing and confusing and the hit circle is a bit too big

The art style is cool and the controls are well done

Developer

Thanks for trying it out, Touhou was our inspiration, sorry for the lack of sfx on the bullets and characters xD, will add them in the next update

Nice idea with the burnout, it's a punishing mechanic but in a good way.  Music and sprites are great!

Maybe the burnout meter could be closer to the center of the screen, was kind of difficult for me to pay attention to the bar and the bullets at the same time.

Good game though, nice job!

Developer

I'm glad the game was challenging in a fun way! moving the burnout meter is a good idea, we're definitely thinking of ways to make that mechanic clearer. thanks for playing and giving feedback :)

I really liked the music and its sense of movement. It matches with the 'running' gameplay, really nice! I noticed though, that it's not looping naturally, so I suggest to look at the end of the music if there's any reverb/delay tail. It's a very common and easy thing to fix though. Good work guys! :)

Yeah, that was my bad as the programmer… tried to trigger some enemy attacks with the audio (using an animation that runs as long as the audio does and triggers attacks at fixed frames) but if the game looses focus or lags, it (animation) pauses while the track continues shattering my cool plan xD

Hey nice game! The 10-second worth of energy is very nice. I liked that you can select the difficulty. Very nice!

Developer

Hey thanks for trying it out, it still needs a lot of work :P

Good game! i think it would be easier to make the player follow the mouse without having to click on the screen, and there is a bug that when you got 2 or 3 bullets sometimes you just can't shoot anymore.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, will look into that bug! kept the controls as drag to move since I had mobile in mind as well but will look into the auto follow option as well.

Design-wise, I felt like the 10 seconds of shooting into a 10 second cooldown was a little harsh and it created a lot of down time. I just played Beenvasion (Bee-nvasion) and they had a simple system implemented to help recuperate energy. Aside from that, wonderful job all around. I loved the aesthetic.

Developer

Hey thanks! We had too many ideas we wanted to try out but due to some unexpected bugs at the end we had to stick to just this simple 10 second mechanic and had to skip our core 10 second mechanic, yeah this one is a little harsh and we will look at how we can make it feel better :)

Submitted(+1)

I was a bit confused to why I couldn't shoot until I read how you implemented this 10 seconds.  Would've appreciated to have some sort of countdown for it so you know what's going on.

Developer

Thanks for reviewing, Zlaktarn! There is an orange "Burnout" bar on the left, but you're right that a number countdown would be even clearer so we'll remember that for any updates!

Really nice idea. But a lot of times I couldn't fire and I didn't know if it was on purpose or a bug Fun game

Developer

yes, the 10 second limit is a mechanic, but we could have been more clear about that in the design. thanks for playing, Portus, glad you had fun!
