In what way does your game fit the theme?
Each individual robot is not strong enough to destroy the whole building. They have to use each of their strengths to demolish each structure

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Everything was made from scratch over the jam week except for the font and a saw blade sprite which was repurposed from another game we made

This game is awesome!

There's a lot of things I like about this game so I might miss a few things! I like the art and animations, I like how it makes sense why each robot is good at destroying their material, I like how you get this little tactical view of the building before you start demolishing it, I like the drill guy's ground pound attack. Lots of things to like!

The only issue I have with this game is that the robots all feel kinda wonky and unintuitive to control.

- Drill robot: It feels weird that I can't hold down and drill to destroy multiple blocks in a row below me, since you can do that going sideways. When you're holding nothing and press drill in the air, it seems inconsistent whether it does a groundpound or drills sideways. The jumps feel floaty and are too skewed vertically, I get why it needs to jump high because it gets stuck but I feel like there's a better way of doing that than giving it moon jumps.

- Laser robot: This one just didn't feel all that responsive, like it would kinda go where I wanted it to go but only when it felt like it, and the dash never seemed to do what I wanted it to. I appreciate how it sorta stalled in the air when you were lasering something but I wish that you could have more precision in aiming. I almost feel like this should be a game played with a mouse because I think both this and the sawblade would benefit from it.

- Saw Robot: This one just felt kinda janky, it was odd how it constantly drained fuel when you were aiming a dash, it misled me to thinking that I needed to do the dash to destroy the blocks but the saw blade just passively destroys blocks and the dash is more of an optional movement mechanic it seems. Also the dash has a really short range and it feels kinda stiff to use.

- Misc: I wish you could go back and use robots who still have more fuel, rather than it being a linear thing

Overall this is a really cool entry! I love the concept of being demolition bots, and the gameplay was fun! Good job!

Thanks DrManatee for checking our game out and giving such in depth feedback. We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed Robo Wreckers, I think you made some good points about some of the controls feeling a bit finicky definitely some things to take into consideration for future. Look forward to trying out your game too.

Cool game, i really liked the destruction effects especially the laser one,  nicely done!

Developer

Thanks! The laser robot is my favourite too.  Definitely the most satisfying I think

nice game :o I love the music, really fits the robotic theme :D the background art is also so nice, the moving clouds and colours look cool. I enjoyed destroying the structures using the different abilities >:3

Thanks! We're glad you had fun playing it!

Good idea the controls are a bit hard and counter intuitive but the game is still fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun. What do you mean by counter intuitive? Do you mean you mixed up the jump and action key on occasion? It would be helpful to know

Submitted(+1)

I meant using the left/right arrow to move but not the up arrow to jump. I always found myself triying to use the up arrow to jump or the  A/D key to move.

Developer

Ah ok thanks! We added a separate jump button because some of the robots use all of the arrow keys to move. I think we'll experiment with the up button also be jump for the  robots that jump.  Thanks for clarifying!

Hey,

I like your game, sadly the controlls are difficult on a german keyboard, but it was fun to play :)

Developer

Whoops I am sorry about that. We'll try and add an option to let people choose their controls in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

Enjoyed playing! Great game :)

Cool idea. Should have added a level select. Also trying to pause shouldn't take you out of the level directly.

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah sadly we ran out of time to implement a pause screen or level select. If you want to skip a level you can just skip through all the robots. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Very cool game! I like the graphics and the core mechanic is also really nice and fun. My only complaint is that you can just deactivate all the robots from the start and still win, maybe there should be a minimum cash or something. Otherwise, great game!

Developer(+1)

Yeah we were going to have that but ran out of time. We also figured that seeing as there's no level select system some people might just wanna skip to the later levels on other playthroughs. We're glad you liked it!

Really good game, I player until level 9 so I think that's good. I really like your graphic design, sound effect and animations, and the idea of having robots to destroy buildings. :)

Developer

Thank you! We’re glad you enjoyed it

Great Fun, and Great design! Very satisfying to tear down a building. Well done.

this was really fun! Great job with the level design & the artwork! Music was really good too & fit the game well! The control were a little strange & took some time to get used to (not really sure I ever really did, I kept mixing up the Z and X, jumping when I meant to destroy and vice versa). I think some better controls would be space to jump and LMB to destroy/dash, etc. Great work!

I'd appreciate it if you could play/rate my game as well! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! We're glad you enjoyed it! I'll play and rate your game in a little bit. Have a short list to get through :p
