In what way does your game fit the theme?
Jerry can change forms from slime to warrior. When changing back to slime he rewinds to his previous position and state, while mantaining the actions made as a warrior.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
The code: yes

The assets: no. Assets used are properly credited in the game's end credits and page.

Music was soothing and I really liked the concept of changing from a slime to the warrior. Giving him a power and taking one away.

Good job!

Could you please play and rate my game as well?

Cool and original mechanic! The level design is really cool but it's easy to softlock yourself by moving a box to a wall and then it's impossible to move it back. The artstyle fits the game really good! Good job!

audio and graphics are on point. good luck!

I adored the music and the simplistic art of the game. I thought the tutorial was really nice and explained everything I need to know about using the characters correctly. I really liked the mechanic of changing into warrior and rewinding back to the slime and that they both had two different purposes and mechanics. :) I would have loved to have played more levels though but what you made was really nice.

Very cool entry! The simple style works great with the puzzles. The last jump almost got me frustrated but when I finally found the solution it felt nice. I'm curious how many more puzzles with this mechanic you could come up with, keep it up!

Really well done! I really like the simple aesthetics and the sad/peaceful music was a nice touch. I think you did a wonderful job on that little tutorial section as well, it made sure I knew how everything worked before I could go on. I liked figuring out how to use the two forms together, particularly the jump/midair switch and attack (which was really fun). Great job and I hope you keep working on it, I wanted to keep playing!

Thank you!

I already have a couple ideas to update the game, and improve it in plenty of aspects, so I'll try to do it after the game jam is over, I'm glad that you liked it!

I was looking for some hidden gems and I found yours. The way you present the narrative and the sad music in BG build an awesome feeling to keep goind forward. The only thing I would like your game had is a option to pull back those crates when they hit a wall.

If you have some spare time, check my puzzle game. The main mechanic is time rewind of your bomb, but enemies react to your bomb is different ways. There are 12 levels and you can do they in any order you like.  I'd appreciate any rating  https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/721302

Thank you, your comment means a lot!

I wanted to make it so that when you restart the whole room restarts, but we were running out of time, so I just made Jerry restart instead; we tried to avoid the problems with the boxes, but some got out of hand haha, that's unfortunate.

And I'm totally checking out your game!

This is definitely one of the top submissions regarding game design. The idea of the game is great, i love the tutorial run at the start eplaining the keys and all. The movement and control of jerry is great (only lacking a few sounds and some effects when changing to warrior etc). My biggest complaint is that it was too short, i need mooooooore :(, also the rewind mechanic was not the protagonist of the game but that's not an issue for me about the game itself but just it being part of this jam. Great submission can't wait to see the game updated, if it ever gets any!

I'm really happy you liked it!

It was me and my friend's first game ever, we put the music minutes before submitting haha, we definitely would've put sound effects. And yeah, I struggled thinking about how to implement the rewind mechanic, but when we had it we tried to make puzzles that worked around it. Even if some of them were quite simple and didn't use much of it, but we tried our best.

I'll actually try to update it once the jam is over. It was really fun making it, and I already have some ideas that can be implemented, starting with making more levels and implementing some other mechanics. Thanks for playing!

The concept was really good, nice minimalistic art style, I liked this game more than most of the jam games. thumbs up!

Developer

Thank you! That means a lot!

Fun game! The concept was interesting, and the visual style was good. Short, but sweet

Thanks!

Fun Little Game!

Nice game! The map is thoughtfully designed and the mechanic is powerful, but intuitive. My one complaint is that it's a little short.

Developer (1 edit)

I'm happy that you liked it!

There was room for more puzzles, using the mechanic, but me and my friend had a hard time thinking about them, and I designed the level 5 hours before submitting so we didn't have much time either haha

Great game. I love the music and character animations full of small details. Level design is great too. Only thing I missed a little bit is pause menu. Anyway keep it up!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

I also think a pause menu would've been good, but I'm new to this so I didn't know or had the time to learn how to make a pause menu haha, but I'm totally implementing that and many more things in future projects/updates of this one.

I really like how you introduced the mechanics for this game in a story telling format. The aesthetic of the game is very nice and relaxing. Overall a really chill game.

Developer

Thank you! I had to introduce the mechanics somehow, but in a black and white game, it would seem really bland just telling you what to do. Also, the storytelling gave Jerry a personality :D

I'm glad you liked it!

Well made tutorial and controls are smooth. Wish it was a bit longer.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

I designed the level a couple hours before submitting it, I had a couple more ideas but I didn't have much time, so I worked with what I had. Level design is a really hard thing, but I'm happy that people are liking the game :D

Your graphics and the music are amazing! The tutorial was very well made ("He likes to move with the a and s keys") and the whole game was fun to play too.

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks! Even though the music isn't originally mine haha, I used a music pack made by Tungerman (tungermanu@gmail.com | tungerman.itch.io).

And yes, about the tutorial, I didn't realize about the "W and D keys" when I made it ;-;

It was the last thing I made right before submitting, it was 6 AM in my country and I had been awake for almost 24 hours straight haha. I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted

Oh, i didn´t even notice this since it was clear to me ;) But still i love to way you told the player how to play.

Btw, in my country the end was 12 am, but we were done the day before. We wanted to make sure everything is uploaded correctly and there are no big bugs. But happy to hear this was the only mistake when working that long and late!

Really fun game. The transformation mechanic and movement was really interesting.

Submitted(+1)

Really interesting! The music and art reminds me of undertale. The controls are really smooth and fun too.  There was one part that I got stuck on and had no idea what to do (a big pit to jump over), but the game is great!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the input! I'm glad you like it.

On that part you mentioned, I forgot to put some kind of visual indicator that tells you to transform, since that would make you able to jump that pit.

It was almost time to submit and I just forgot! Haha

I enjoyed the mechanic a lot! “Jerry” moves great, and the game has a lot of potential to be a simple, yet interesting, puzzle platformer. Nice job on your first game, man! I’m looking forward to see what you can do later down the road

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
