Wow, creepy! I managed to get the key, but I absolutely got lost in the house, and apparently died to a tombstone(?). it would be really nice to have a UI element or map to help me find my way back. Or, if the rooms looked a bit more different.

I don't usually do horror games, and I really appreciate the lack of jumpscares.

Really nice game! At first I was a bit confused with all the ui elements and the seals breaking mechanic, but after a little time it gets clear!
Very fun to play, although I didn't know what to do with so many flashlights LOL

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeahhh we really wanted to add more items but didn't got around to that so everything is a flashlight hahaha

Thanks for checking it out, glad you liked it!! Also, we did explain the game's mechanics and controls and stuff much better in the game's itch page than we did in-game - I recommend checking it out if you haven't! :D

Ah, as a fellow demon enjoyer I can tell your game is truly haunted by the way my PC starts to cry :D
The atmosphere is nice and I appreciate a game that is scary but doesn't rely on jump scares. Was a bit confused on the amount of flashlights I found. Their battery never drained so carrying one was enough. I don't know if it was intentional but in a horror game adding fish as the consumable feels a bit silly, but I like it.
My only notes are that the mouse sensitivity feels a bit low and you forgot to write that you can run by holding Shift.
Overall it was a fun experience

We forgot to add a lot of things haha the game definitely needs a separate "controls" screen - we just ran out of time for that 😅 We instead wrote everything in the game's itch page - which I do really recommend checking out if you haven't yet! :D Demon's Fortune by Shoniver, Stevie

Sorry to hear your PC struggled - we definitely need to add proper graphics settings to be able to lower down things a little 😂 And about the flashlights - truth be told, there's a lot of them simply because we didn't want containers to be empty and we didn't implement other collectable items in time!

Oh and finally - there IS also meat you can find haha which acts as the better food source :)

Thanks for all the feedback!! Glad you liked it :D

A visually nice game! The ui and models all looked really fitting and everything. I think the only thing is that perhaps the inventory could use a click instead of a drag into hotbar? would make the game a bunch more smoother :>

Developer

Hi, thanks for the feedback! The click-to-collect thing was also mentioned by several other comments so it's good to know it wasn't clear, we actually added right-click and shift+click to support auto collect but it seems click is more intuitive, we will make sure to either add it or make it more visible that you can use right-click, but anyways we are very happy you liked it :)

Developer

On top of what Stevie mentioned - I recommend checking out the game's itch page! Demon's Fortune by Shoniver, Stevie :D

I mentioned this in other comments, but we basically just ran out of time and couldn't communicate things in-game properly, so we made sure to write the controls and stuff on the website - including the quick-transfer behavior, which is indeed implemented :D

Either way - thanks again for the feedback! :D

Cool game. I don't usually play a lot of horror games. I loved the art style and resource managing gameplay in this.

The inventory system took a bit of time to figure out how it works. I would have liked just click items to store them to inventory instead of dragging. Also is there a inventory window to interact with inventory? I found the best was to consume food for example was to go to a cupboard, place food on 1st item slot and them Right mouse click.

Is finding a cupboard necessary? Since its the only way I seemed to be able to get ingame cursor.

Ayyy, thanks for checking it out! :D

About your questions - all of the stuff you struggled with IS properly implemented, just not very well explained in-game haha. The game uses a similar control scheme to a lot of other survival games we play so we kinda assumed it would be understandable - but we were quickly proven very wrong 😅 Sadly by that time it was already too late to explain it better in-game - which is why we opted to explain everything we could in the game's itch page! Demon's Fortune by Shoniver, Stevie

I highly recommend you check it out if you wanna give it another go :)

Okay that makes sense. Since it's a downloadable I didn't even visit the game's itch page. That's on me. But good game overall.

Developer

Nahhh you're all good - following your feedback, I added a "P.S." to this page asking to check out the game page - hopefully that helps other people checking the game out!

Thanks again :D

I really really REALLY like this game, such a good looking fun game, thanks for creating it, had a blast playing it, pretty impressive 🤩

Really well done! 👌❤️

The game oozes with style, I'm not very good at UI but the UI in this game just hits so nicely; kinda reminds of "The Darkness" games in a way. The atmosphere is built well especially when I was expecting a parade of jumpscares that many horror games now are very notorious for but instead I got more tension and actual spookiness.

Ayyyy thanks for checking it out, glad you liked it! :D

The game is very well made with excellent ambience and SFX. The interactions and the mechanics are a bit weird though, nevertheless I obtained the key :D. Cool game, nicely done!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! :D

And yeah, sadly we didn't fuuuully get around to properly explaining the mechanics in-game - we did our best to explain them in the game's page if you wanna give it a little read though! :D

Huge fan of the UI, reminds me of something like The Darkness or Vampire: Masquerade. Spent a while running around like a headless chicken looking for the door back after I got the key but died to hunger 10/10 experience

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I have just seen a gameplay of The Darkness and it's amazing, we accidentally made the messages from the demon appear in similar style cool to know xD We really appreciate the feedback and will make sure to update as we continue the project

I know you used assets, but the game looks incredible! The effects create such a cool atmosphere, and I was honestly afraid something out of the ordinary would happen, like a jumpscare. It’s both fun and psychologically scary.

I somehow managed to beat it, but I still didn’t fully understand some of the mechanics. I hope you keep working on the game and maybe add a pause screen!

Good job!

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback! :D

Yeah, sadly we didn't fuuuully get around to properly explaining the mechanics in-game - we did our best to explain them in the game's page if you wanna give it a little read though! :D And yeah definitely missing a pause screen haha

Thanks again :D

I really liked atmosphere and visuals in that game.  Ambience was very scary as expected and sfx also good !

I Like this one ! It have nice Graphics and a nice gameplay well Done !

Submitted(+2)

Very cool idea! Also visuals and audio make it look scary as it should be. Also it would be good to see (just my opinion) a light from flashlight to be in center. I know that it doesn't look that realistic, but it is better for player to see what are they looking at right now. Because when you come close to the wall too close, light disappears (goes into the wall).

Submitted(+1)

Such a shame your game did not get more visibility. This was well rounded and polished for a game jam.

Submitted(+1)

I really liked this game. From the art design to the props and overall aesthetic. This was really well made, and I am highly impressed to see what this team is able to create within a week. Would love to see this developed further.

I was half expecting a jumpscare playing this game. I love the mood you created in the environment design, however I wondered why there was so much fish and chicken in the cupboards and drawers

Developer

Ayy, thanks so much for playing and for all the feedback!

Truth be told - the reason why there's a ton of fish and chicken is because we didn't have time to implement other items, haha. We originally intended to add combat mechanics and allow you to find a weapon and a shield, potions, valuables items you could steal. etc - but the clock was ticking!
