Yeahhh we really wanted to add more items but didn't got around to that so everything is a flashlight hahaha

Thanks for checking it out, glad you liked it!! Also, we did explain the game's mechanics and controls and stuff much better in the game's itch page than we did in-game - I recommend checking it out if you haven't! :D

Hahaha it was intense, that's for sure! Lesson learned for next jam 😂

Good to know it has an ending (sort of)!! I might give it another try if I have the time then, it was super fun!

Amazing job :D

Ohhh haha when I originally played it I DID go back there - but it was just the wrong staircase! There was nothing there so I assumed it was the same for all 😂

Just checked again and yup, found it! Easy way to get reassurance that there is no ending to the game as of now 😅 Loved the narrator's voice line about it though haha

We forgot to add a lot of things haha the game definitely needs a separate "controls" screen - we just ran out of time for that 😅 We instead wrote everything in the game's itch page - which I do really recommend checking out if you haven't yet! :D Demon's Fortune by Shoniver, Stevie

Sorry to hear your PC struggled - we definitely need to add proper graphics settings to be able to lower down things a little 😂 And about the flashlights - truth be told, there's a lot of them simply because we didn't want containers to be empty and we didn't implement other collectable items in time!

Oh and finally - there IS also meat you can find haha which acts as the better food source :)

Thanks for all the feedback!! Glad you liked it :D

On top of what Stevie mentioned - I recommend checking out the game's itch page! Demon's Fortune by Shoniver, Stevie :D

I mentioned this in other comments, but we basically just ran out of time and couldn't communicate things in-game properly, so we made sure to write the controls and stuff on the website - including the quick-transfer behavior, which is indeed implemented :D

Either way - thanks again for the feedback! :D

Ayyyy sounds awesome haha

Excellent stuff, looking forward to it :D

Alright alright listen. Maybe it's a skill issue. But... DAMN this game made me want to close my computer for the day xDDD

Not because it's bad or anything - it's VERY impressive, actually! Loved the visuals, everything looks and feels super polished - hell, you even added a leaderboards?? Like that's crazy haha. And the way the lift bursts through everything in the main menu??? SICK!

But... Man, I sucked at it xD Every single thing I try picking ends up falling off. Every turn I make either makes me or the stuff I'm holding roll over and fall off xD It's soooo difficult. I'd say the thing that felt weird about it is that it feels like things don't really have any mass to them? They all feel very light and easily thrown off.

It definitely seems intended, don't get me wrong - it looks like this is the vibe of game you were going for - but yeah, I couldn't get much done 😅 Again, maybe it's just a skill issue haha

Beautiful game! I loved the visuals, and I *especially* loved how simple and intuitive the crafting mechanic was! Didn't need a tutorial or anything - just combined a couple of things and done, ez pz. The sprites you made communicate this really really well, and I think that's pretty impressive!

The gameplay itself is pretty fun too - I'm curious, is there an actual ending? Or is it endless? Also I loveeed how the enemies start spawning more and more once the wizard dies - that's such a cool visual way to communicate "you fucked up", lol. I did find ONE issue with it - in my first playthrough, I stood against the south wall of the building and was pushed *outside* by the creatures - which meant I could run around the building and they could *never* catch me, haha. Thing is - more kept spawning. So many of them spawned, in fact, that my computer started to lag - so I gave up and let them kill me 😂

Either way - awesome stuff! I see you've submitted it 59 seconds before the deadline - impressive, but no match for us ;)

Broooooo. What an incredible submission!!!

The visuals & narrative bits are SO well done, and I loved the different "tasks"! It honestly feels like a fully-fledged game, nearly ready to be shipped, haha (pun unintended).

I do have one issue with it - it might just be my personal taste, but I felt like running around the place figuring out the layout and the room positions and stuff was a little.. eh?

I was thinking it could be nice if you had flashing red lights leading you towards the rooms that have faulty mechanisms in them - but Idk, it might make the game too easy? I feel like most of the challenge comes from map knowledge, as of now.

Another thing that confused me a bit was how the interactable objects all always look the same, with that green rectangle icon on them - I was expecting there to be a separate indicator for when the object is actually interactable (which would mean I don't have to walk up to it and spam the E key like a maniac - a single glance would be enough, haha).

Anyways - insanely impressive work, guys! Keep it up! :D

Nahhh you're all good - following your feedback, I added a "P.S." to this page asking to check out the game page - hopefully that helps other people checking the game out!

Thanks again :D

Ayyy, thanks for checking it out! :D

About your questions - all of the stuff you struggled with IS properly implemented, just not very well explained in-game haha. The game uses a similar control scheme to a lot of other survival games we play so we kinda assumed it would be understandable - but we were quickly proven very wrong 😅 Sadly by that time it was already too late to explain it better in-game - which is why we opted to explain everything we could in the game's itch page! Demon's Fortune by Shoniver, Stevie

I highly recommend you check it out if you wanna give it another go :)

For just 2 people, this game has an incredible amount of content! Different equipment with abilities linked to them (the ability to roll forward was super cool to discover!), different tracks playing in every room (even though you didn't make the tracks themselves - still a cool detail I didn't see anyone else do!), and even the different equipment showing differently on the player model!

Very impressive stuff - I do agree with the rest that some polish is lacking (the UI buttons in the menu are a bit weird, the controls would've probably been a bit more fun if they were traditional wasd controls, the missing floor texture in the staircase room, the cubic block for a sword model, the burning particle effect...), but considering the amount of stuff you made in just a week with just 2 people - it's impressive enough as is, I'd say!

Now THAT'S an honor, especially considering how good your game is!

Thanks so much :D

Aw thanks so much! Really happy you liked it :D

Nice platformer!

I did encounter all of the issues Sanj1t encountered as well, but the one that was the most problematic is the inconsistent jumps  - usually I can triple jump, but sometimes only double - and it really screwed up my gameplay a few times cuz I was going to do a triple jump over something but it just didn't work so I died 😅

Besides that, I did find one more bug - I somehow managed to stand on lava without dying? Not sure how to replicate this - it happened in the 3rd stage at the first bit of lava, the one that has a rock that appears in the center of it. I landed my jump on the side of the block - and the lava didn't kill me. I could keep walking on it back and forth and nothing happened until I jumped off the ground and touched it again.

Either way - good stuff!

MULTIPLE different game modes? Cutscenes? QUICK TIME EVENTS????

Like, bro, what is HAPPENING hahaha that's so insanely impressive!

I REALLY liked the first game mode - I honestly think that alone can be turned into a full game! Loved that you even took the time to add the extended arm mechanism - it's so fun to place books from afar with!

One of the most impressive submissions I've seen, hands down. Amazing job!

Heya! As the jam is coming to a close, this is a quick reminder to please check out our game as well if you haven't yet! :D

The reason I made this post is because we really want some more ratings, after all!  https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3349971

oooo a bus stop feature sounds awesome haha

and ofc! Glad to see you managed to keep it all mostly together - wish you the best with future updates!! :D

Ayyyy thanks for checking it out, glad you liked it! :D

Thank you for the feedback! :D

And yeah, sadly we didn't fuuuully get around to properly explaining the mechanics in-game - we did our best to explain them in the game's page if you wanna give it a little read though! :D

Thank you for the detailed feedback! :D

Yeah, sadly we didn't fuuuully get around to properly explaining the mechanics in-game - we did our best to explain them in the game's page if you wanna give it a little read though! :D And yeah definitely missing a pause screen haha

Thanks again :D

Oh?? Maybe I'm doing something wrong haha but I hit continue and seemed to start from the very beginning 😅

I did try one more run - was able to get a little farther this time, but still felt it was really difficult and perhaps also a little slow (tho that is by design haha) - touch the crevasse once, and bam, back to the very beginning again 😅

Aw, shit happens man it's all good! Totally understandable haha as I said it's impressive enough as is!

Good luck with future progress!! :D

Of course!!! You honestly did an incredible job with this - sucks that itch's karma mechanic is screwing you over!

Gotta rate and comment on more games to get more visibility!

Also, co-dev said he will check it out tomorrow :D And ayyyyyyyy knew it haha

Ohhh I forgot to mention that in my comment haha but was wondering why that happens! That makes sense lol

This seems like a very promising, incredibly cute, game with a lot of charm!

I saw the other comments and I know you're working on the post-jam update, so I'll try to not repeat issues I've seen others bring up (mostly the UI highlights and the end-of-day bit overlapping with anything currently on screen and not cutting it off). Instead, here are a few issues I didn't see others bring up (tho I might've just missed them 😅):

  1. If you click the "play game" button more than once in quick succession, the game will crash
  2. When going out into the wild, if you click "stay here", you can then just.. Continue moving straight into the wilds - except the UI question isn't triggered again, allowing you to jump off the map and fall for eternity
  3. If the day ends when you have the "leave wilderness" dialog open, it will remain open from that point forward (can not be interacted with or closed)

Anyways - for just one person, this submission has an INSANE amount of content. Like, literally unbelievable. Can't expect something packed to the brim with unique mechanics to be flawless, not when it was made by just one person in just one week!

This is incredibly impressive and I do absolutely think the concept is promising - looking forward to the post-jam update!

Also, I hope you get more ratings, btw!! Very underrated!!

So ummm... I saw that little save file of yours, and uh

thought it'd be funny to mess around 😂

That aside - what a fun take on the concept! Felt like the game was constantly trolling itself. The gameplay was really fun and the mechanics are surprisingly varied for a jam game!

The only thing that bothered me was that I didn't have an option to directly continue to the next stage - but it is what it is, haha. Impressive enough as is!

Rated and commented - loved it!! So incredibly underrated, dude.

10 ratings including me??????? FOR A KTANE GAME???????

This is possibly the most underrated game in the whole entire jam. Just phoned up a good friend of mine to read the manual for me and gave it a go - absolutely loved every minute of it!

I think the one thing it's missing is a timer of sorts, something to really stress you out - right now it's a very very chill game, I just sorta sat around and waited for my friend to finish reading it all, haha. And of course, more puzzle variations - but you really can't ask for anything more than you already did for a ONE WEEK long jam!

It's incredibly impressive as is, and I really hope you get some more exposure! Good luck, and amazing job once again!

Arcane reference spotted?!

Haha but other than that - absolutely LOVED this!! The amount of content you managed to pack into this in just a week is actually insane. Took me a few tries to figure out what was going on - but had a lot of fun once I did (even though I didn't get super far haha only 180).

Criminally underrated!! I hope more people play this - will ask my co-dev to give it a go as well!

Np! Glad to hear you'll continue working on the game, I think it has a lot of potential :D

and totally understandable haha 1 week is not a lot of time!
