One of my favourite submissions so far ! The concept is funny and fitting, the custom art is nice, the gameplay mechanics simple and sufficient for a short game. The only issue would be the repetitive footstep sound effects. Other than that, congrats !

Developer

thank you! and the footsteps are kinda repetitive. I think I forgot to lower the volume for the player footsteps

I'm very happy you were able to submit your game and love how damned cute it is!

Adorable art style and concept. I found it somewhat difficult to tell when the best windows to drink coffee were (kept getting caught after the boss seemed to have walked off the screen) but eventually I realized what the sound effects were trying to tell me and managed to make it to the ending. I enjoyed trying to juggle the drinks and the customers, and the reviews on the computer were an excellent touch. Also a surprising amount of polish, like the gentle breathing and blinking on Emily and the pouring animations for the coffee.

My only issue was getting stuck with a cup of coffee in hand that I couldn't drop or drink while a customer was at the register, so I was forced to give out some wrong drinks — but, since I could delete their bad reviews, it contributed to the gameplay loop anyway. This was super cute and one of my favorite executions of the jam theme, and one of my favorite games so far overall. Very cool stuff!

your boss coming out without visual indication is a bug, I fixed  it though and I'll upload a new build after voting. also I did think about making a trash can later, but never really made it. thanks! really happy you enjoyed playing and beat the game! and thanks for the feedback :)

I quite liked the visuals and the audio. Some music would've added to the experience tho imo. Other than that, pretty cool idea and well done!

Developer

thanks! :D

couldn't agree more with the music, I just didn't have time or find anyone to make some for some reason

The visual style and simple sounds complemented each other beautifully. I immediately wanted to play as soon as I saw the cover image—delicate and well-crafted work!

Developer

thanks! really loved making the sounds ha!

This is a nice and interesting idea, and was executed quite nicely too. The hand-drawn artwork for the game was surprisingly fitting and does have some charm to it. The gameplay is a bit confusing but still enjoyable, I ended up trying a few times but still can survive long. (Probably I am doing something wrong). One of the main issues I faced when playing the game is that the boss lacks any form of telegraphing, i.e. no way of knowing when the boss pops up from behind and sees you drinking coffee. I am guessing the computer may have something to do with it, but currently, the only meaningful interaction there was to delete reviews (which is itself very funny), and I don't think it affects how the boss behaves in any way.

But anyway, this is still at the end of the day quite a nice entry, and its a job well done! Keep up the good work!

Developer

yeah, the boss not letting you know he is coming is a bug and it can be pretty annoying and make the game feel unfair. the boss is supposed to let you know he is coming before hand, but I wasn't able to get enough playtesting or fixing done in time for the deadline, but I've fixed it not too long ago along with a few other small changes and I'll be uploading that build after the jam is over with the fixes. thanks for playing and for the feedback! it really helps for future projects :D

And this is why I can't work at a coffee shop. This isn't a video game, this is a peek into an alternate reality where I became a barista haha. That coffee pour sound was music to my ears. Great job!

I served a lot of cold beverages, but the customers seemed happy. I can't help feel like I missed something.

Loved the graphics. Game looks well polished.

Edit: On my second play through I realized I could drink the coffee. Nice.

Developer
