How does the game fit the theme?
1 - Ironically:
You gracefully carry a crown through a peaceful medieval path. Ironically, it is filled with absurd traps and obstacles that will make everything go wrong, testing your balance, patience and skill.

2 - Literally:
Even when you fail, you still earn points and join the leaderboard.

3 - Immortal Mode:
It really can't go wrong this way. For those who struggle, we've added a secret mode where players become invincible, guaranteeing a smooth journey to the end and allowing everyone to experience victory and the final cinematic.

Very fun take on the theme! I liked the balancing between moving to avoid stuff while simultaneously balancing the crown for points. I also just find the concept of tossing the crown into the air for extra points kind of hilarious as it is completely in contrast to the goal of keeping the crown safe which added to the whole absurd vibe of the game, very good idea!

I do think that it was a bit tough sometimes to judge what would hit the crown and what wouldn't. The timing also felt a bit off sometimes, I was stuck on the last beam of the tutorial for quite a while as it turned out I had to toss the crown way earlier than it looked like I was supposed to. Because of this I didn't have the patience to complete the game, but I did turn on immortal mode just to see the ending.

Also, maybe you shouldn't be placed on the leaderboard if you have immortal mode turned on!

So clever and unique. Also frustrating, but in a fun kind of way that makes me want to try again and actually deliver the darn crown to the darn king!! Love it

I haven't found such fitting and unique game in this jam as this! Absolutely amazing work!

Thank you for you lovely words, I'm super happy that you liked it ^^
I wish I streamed the jam or at least rating people's games, I think I'll do it next one, the jam community is amazing <3

Liked the concept of the game but please for god sake allow me to skip the tutorial that pop every single try, I KNOW :) I'll buy a dose of patience and come retry it later ^^ The game sounds very good from a technical point of view, and sounds fun in the long run, but the tutorial made me quit. I can't beign interupted while focusng on the crown balance. Keep up the good work, the game is promising! Did you try Angry Shepherd?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

You caan!! In the pause menu, if you press P or ESC, you can skip the tutorial! Even enable an immortal mode where nothing can go wrong. Should have written that in the first note.. It is also written in the game page (:

But thanks for the kind words, I'll play Angry Shepherd tomorrow after work! Much love from Spain <3

Hysterical and rage inducing. Great job!

This was a lot of fun! I like the concept of the game, it's really satisfying once you've learned the full route and you can pull off a full run. I think the addition of being able to start at different sections and immortal mode were good to keep the game from being overly frustrating for players too. Love the tony hawk trick sound lol. Great work on this!

Developer

Thanks man, I enjoyed so much your streams and your game too! ^^ Very nice to see a fellow creator playing so many games and doing a megatierlist. I don't know if you stream outside jams, but will drop by if I see you around 100%

I really liked the game idea and had a lot of fun with it. The controls felt great to me.

Developer

Thank you!! That was a lovely comment <3
We took a risk to make a game not for everyone, but love to hear nice stuff from the ones who like it ^^

The art and music go well together. The controls are rather unforgiving and there is no where near enough visual clarity for if you are about to hit something or not. Other than that, a perfect game to troll people with. Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Controls sometimes felt a bit unforgiving, but I managed to score almost 600 points after ~15 tries. The art and sound design totally set the mood. Well done!

Submitted(+2)

I like this game, the mechanics are simple but fun, The controls is a bit hard.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing it and glad you liked it :) Means the world to me <3

The controls and movement feel a bit tough. I had a hard time differentiating when I was going to hit something. It might've helped to shift the camera along with the crown, but could be a skill issue.

Turned on immortal mode to try to enjoy all of the game's gimmicks since I repeatedly died in the first area. Fun! Clever problems to run into. The sound effects were honestly quite charming.

Developer

Yess, the perspective is hard to grasp, but thank you for the advices. We tried the camera movement, but didn't work that well.
Thank you for testing it and hope you liked the ending ^^

Very interesting idea! Loved the simple gameplay mechanics but it was definitely a bit hard

Developer

Thanks for playing it <3  For fitting the theme we did a troll game, but it is true that for a jam maybe it is not the best idea cause people is not going to fail 1000 times to learn every trap ^^

Submitted(+2)

Great idea and very fun ending :D Had to use immortal mode though, it is very hard to see where the obstacles are exactly and some of them feel a bit unfair.

I really wanted to see the ending, and it was worth the wait :D

Very nice art and sound effects too. (bit unfortunate the start screen looks so blurry, because the actual game art is quite good)

Good job :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing and reviewing! One of our concerns was people potentially not reaching the ending, so it is worth the effort to know that at least you enjoyed it!

From the beginning we wanted the game to feel unfair and frustrating but in a funny way so that players would have to memorize the traps and fear for the next one. We have found that to be very challenging to achieve because in order to be "trolling unfairly" you need to be very smoth and clear from a UX perspective, which requires A LOT of work.

The blurry start screen you reference was not designed by us because of an overscope of the project, that is why it looks a bit incoherent with the rest of the art.

Again, thanks for that review! Coffee time and let's see what you have brought to the jam :)

Wow, excellent idea!

Developer

We're glad you liked the idea! Thanks for playing!

Can't pass the tutorial, when you crouch its just not enough. And the tutorial pausing the game is frustrating

Developer(+1)

Press P or ESC, in that Pause Menu you can skip the tutorial or just enter in supersaiyan mode, where nothing can go wrong!

Submitted(+2)

I wish the tutorial were a separate level but it's a game jam so I assume you guys just didn't have enough time. The idea is solid and is about the theme, the graphics, art, and audio are all ok, could be better but for a jam they are good. The gameplay itself gets a bit boring once you play enough, overall I'd argue its a pretty good game especially so since it was made in a week.

8/10 :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comments, the ideas was to make the tutorial as some tips for the player, but the first part was intended as a phase of the actual game, not just a tutorial. Also implemented a system to remember the tips already given, but in order not to lose information when not reading them, I thought it was going to be better if you decide to toggle it on/off from the pause menu.

But with all the comments I'm receiving about it, maybe I should have moved the player to the second phase if the tutorial is skipped.. But well, it's a troll game, like Getting with Hammer it or so, the idea is to get good at it by repeating it. Also, if you didn't see there is an Immortal Mode pressing "i", so that you can see the whole course and the final cinematic without nothing going wrong :)

But anyway, thanks a lot for your kind words, it means a lot to me <3

Loved the gameplay and concept! But the execution could be better. Maybe makes a two different level, one for tutorial and one for the real gameplay. I already frustated dying to that sign and doing all over again while tutorial scroll keep showing me the info that I already know.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thanks for playing it! Means a lot to me <3

In the Pause Menu you can skip the tutorial. I actually implemented some memory, so the tutorial skipped the steps already shown, but my flatmate didn't read a message and as it didn't show again, he was  not overcoming a simple obstacle T.T

I thought that was better to leave it always, as it is easy to skip with SPACE. And you can always toggle it through the pause menu ^^
