A fun little game for sure. Loved the space shooting concept combined with a nice story of being together with friends. A well made game! The visuals were simple and great. It was initially hard to figure out my ship, but once you get it. It's pretty easy from there. Loved the art at the end BTW. Keep up the great work team!

How does the game fit the theme?
Nothing can go wrong when you are with friends, because we are better together! This is expressed in the game by your companions, Lynn and Eddie, who help you shoot asteroids with their overpowered missile launchers. Additionally, you cannot get a "game over" state, because we want to give the feeling that nothing could go wrong, even if you ram face first into a gigantic asteroid.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Really cute and fun game! I recommend making player character and other ships easier to spot... I was lost on the screen and died many times because of that....
Oh, this is amazing!
Analyzing it using LeBlanc's Taxonomy of Game Pleasures (all 8 points):
A classic game like Asteroids already has two good elements:
- Challenge and
- Submission
You've added four more elements to your game: - Fantasy
- Narrative
- Fellowship
- Sensation
The remaining two are: - Discovery
- Expression
I think adding modern design elements to a classic game is very interesting, and you've successfully demonstrated this for everyone to see. I love it and want everyone to try playing this game. Great job!
Neat asteroid style game.
I thought the AI was programmed quite well (which is hard to do in 7 days). Music is spacey and fits the outer-space aesthetic of the game.
The difficulty level felt about right to me. I ended up dying about 7 times, which is fine given that you allow the player to have infinite retries and respawn instantly - would be a nightmare to play if you had to start again every time ;)
For improvements, there was a point where an orange enemy shot through one of the escorts and then killed me. Maybe make it so your companions block shots if they happen to be in-between you and the enemy bullet.
Cool submission. Great job!
Thank you so much for leaving detailed feedback and playing our game! Halfway through we decided that infinite lives would be a good idea for a GameJam setting. I think it worked out very well. I'm really glad you liked our AI and music. I will admit that the enemy shooting through the companions feels a bit weird. It was one of those last minute features that I wish could have gotten a bit more polish. I do really appreciate the feedback!
One in a list of the most iconic classic video game of all time must be Asteriods(Atari). You replicate core gameplay so smoothly and give us completely different feeling. For Asteroids every part of game makes us feel lonely and dangerous. But this we felt warm heart by relation of friendship and teamwork. Dialogue between characters is lively. Music is relaxing. I enjoy this game so much.
Our initial goal was to recreate Asteroids. It's good to hear feedback that we nailed that! After we had the foundation, we started to get creative with our ideas and wanted to really bring the game to life. When I was LittleCraftedPieces (our artist) working on characters I just knew that was going to make our game feel so much more alive. Thanks for playing our game and leaving a thoughtful review!
Closer together, easier it is. Further apart, the harder it is. In the vast void of space, that's gotta be crucial. Something about the way Lynn said stay close, basically, followed by me not listening and dying, had me compelled to type this. Finding the right distance between the ships is key. If the controls are tricky, stay closer till you feel more natural with momentum in space. Yet, stay mindful that Eddie and Lynn still need you on stand by. I played Asteroids with my dad, and his tricks he taught me had me stay alive in this game. Which was cool, because I played Asteroids with my dad 26 years ago. However, still challenging in the sense I died being to confident. Hadda chill, and then the game got easier. The one thing I would have loved was some lives and a boss at the end. Perhaps, NG+ after the player does the initial play through. You ever play all the way through a Kirby game? So cute yet so brave, but the final true boss contrasts the cutesy Kirby aesthetic. In that moment, I would love to see Jack, Lynn, and Eddie cutesy wholesome vibe face a foe that, once they beat it, really shines their bravery. I loved it thoroughly, thank you. Downloaded to play again on my pc.
This is exactly the feeling we were going for! Closer together makes it easier, and thus nothing can go wrong. It is very heartwarming to me that we could help invoke in you a memory of playing Asteroids with your father. That is special. A NG+ would be an awesome addition! We had even planned boss fights during our initial planning stages! That would have make it feel a lot more like StarFox 64, which was our other inspiration. However, as is normal with GameJams, we just did not have enough time for bosses or other game modes. Still, I feel that what we produced was good enough. Your thoughtful review means so much to us, because it proves that we did make something special. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for playing our game.
Cool game! I like the feels and concept. I think the controls are a bit hard at first though.
It feels like Asteroids, but this game is even more interesting! I really love the storytelling and dialogue—it makes the experience even more fun.
Asteroids was our inspiration for making this game. We figured that would be easy enough to program for a GameJam. Then we wanted to add in all the other stuff. I am so glad to hear you loved the storytelling and dialogue. It took a lot of hard work to get that system working properly. Thanks for playing our game!
I wish the ship size to be a little bigger and it's kind of confusing when you get outside the border it gets to the other part but overall a fun experience.
It was hard to control at first but once i got the hang of it i couldnt put it down. It got hectic but the chaos was half the fun. Great game and the space background looked really good!
Thank you, I am overjoyed to hear you had so much addicting fun with our game! Little Crafted Pieces helped make the space background. She'll be so happy to hear that you loved her background.
i'm glad that you guyz not added a friendly fire feature :D fun game!
Nice game! Cool that you're not only defending yourself but the crewmates also
The controls were tough, but I think that was the point! Still fun like it alot, nice story and dialog!
Nice idea! It was hard to me to track where is my ship on the screen, but after some time I get used to it.
