did you use web or windows and if web then what browser

thank you! 🐛

thank you!

thanks! what computer/laptop specs do you have so I know what to test with (if you're willing to share that)

thank you! 🐛

thanks!

thank you! 🐛

thanks! yeah fair point about that I'll probably lock most of them behind preload and move that to be earlier so people are guaranteed to have a shop before getting all the shop upgrades

(1 edit)

take these bugs of encouragement 🐛🐛🐛🐛🐛. Unlocking the shop early by doing the two upgrades in the bottom path of the system mods makes things easier in zone 1. I'll probably also move the second one of those upgrades earlier in the upgrade tree post jam which would make it easier to unlock early to help out

thanks! spacebar and enter also work for clicking which I added in to help with the finger hurting issues (credit to 10 million clicks together for giving me the idea by having it first lol)

thank you! 🐛🐛🐛

thanks! the cracks/webs are mostly meant to be a punishment for missing to encourage more accuracy in the shooting instead of everyone just rapidly clicking everything. You can still do it but theres more of a tradeoff due to losing vision which makes practicing your aim and sniping the bugs more wanted.

There is also an upgrade you can get from the shop that lets you repair all the cracks every so often which clears them up

thanks!

Ill see if I can add some more descriptions to the mods (and probably lock ones that relate to things you havent seen before such as hiding the elite missiles when you havent unlocked hard mode yet)

I do need to add more of a cooldown to the shop clicking. Will add that in after the jam ends

thank you!

Update coming post jam to speed up the death sequence!

thanks! yeah this turned out pretty well and it let me expand on my game framework a bunch so likely all my future games can get up to a similar point quicker and then I can add even more to them

The honse thanks you 🐴

I was thinking of doing auto fire or maybe having that as an upgrade but didn't end up having time to plan out something good. I'll try to revisit that as maybe an accessibility setting or something

Typically it runs better in the download version but not sure if it would for a chromebook since I haven't tested with one atm. I'll see if I can add in a low quality mode after the jam that makes the shaders less intensive

Update coming hopefully right after the jam to speed that up!

Thanks. Yeah it kinda scales decently hard which is meant for you to get upgraded and then continually get further. Clicking the small honses (aka the Trojan honses) spawns a bunch of bugs but you don't need to click on the honses to pass a wave so avoid them makes it a bit easier. They're mostly just there to punish spam clickers a bit

Update should be coming after the jam to add some faster restarts

Yeah ill do an update after the jam to shorten that down past the second run through. (as well as fixing a bug where the boss really wants to kill you still even if you're on the death screen lol)

Space and enter are also valid to use instead of left click which is easier on the fingers for those rapidly clicking

Thanks! Yeah I've been planning to expand on it and release it on steam likely in a year (maybe before the next GMTK so we can work on a brand new game then) so that should be appearing sometime soon. Ill try to do a devlog post on the itch page and announce that in our discord when the steam page is setup

Oh I meant upgrade build lol

Congrats on beating impossible mode! Which build did you use? Thats a good note for myself to include that on the end screen

first time ive gotten a report of that. do you know what wave type it happens on? There are darker sprites that exist but those are fake bugs

The game is nice! Being in the perspective of the murderer type character and then going through things was a nice way to take the narrative. Not something I usually see much. I don't usually play visual novels so I didn't really end up saving or loading but the skip feature was nice to get back to the choices so I could check out the other options. Most of the improvements I can say about it are mostly nitpicks (e.g. the color of the Lucio text can merge into the background sometimes and the text looks a bit weird being flat default against the rest of the ui) but had a nice time going through it

Played through your game on stream. I've got the vod below if you wanted to watch me go through it.

Was a really unique platforming mechanic. Worked well and the switch up at level 6 is nice to add some variety to things (although it was a lot less fun for me than the previous section to the point where I eventually gave up on it due to not having a great time). The platform movement being the same speed as the player tends to make it so all the jumps had to be predicted (which cant be done easily blindly on the first run through a level due to the platforms not indicating where they are moving to and from). A lot of the later levels also tended to mostly be just hoping you land on the correct spot to go onto  the thin platform instead of being a full puzzle or skill check.

Overall nicely made. Mechanic of needing to resize stuff to find the cats was unique and worked pretty well. There was a couple bugs I ran into (not being able to shrink a window after it becomes too big) but was able to avoid that in a run and then find all the cats.

At first I was trying to overlap the windows in different ways since I thought that might make them affect each other and make a cat show up (and seemed to do something at first cause things like the fish that appeared right after I did it lol). Realized it was only resizing after a bit though.

Overall everything works really well. The mastery to not need to keep going a minigame is great and theres a bunch of really good polish everywhere. Was fun to go through but all the plants were pretty much the same thing since they all shared the same minigames. Was a bit hard to tell the level 2 and level 3 crops apart in spots like the seed picking section for when I wanted to try to merge things together to find level 4s. Strategy was mostly just spamming random combinations and hoping it worked (which maybe made it a bit tedious near the end) but was short enough where it didn't get annoying.

Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to look at the playthrough again in the future here's the VOD timestamped to your game

Played through your game on stream. I've attached the playthrough below if you want to go through it (vod timestamped to your game).

Overall nicely built and the voices for the customers are great. All the ingredients / potion making feel samey currently (which is fair enough for a jam game but if you want to expand on the game you'll likely have to make them feel distinct from each other somehow). Addition of the king as a final challenge was nice.
