The chromatic aberration on the text hurts my brain :( The game crashed before I could do much.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Sounds like you're playing the webgl build. The shader messes up a little and adds way too much chromatic abberation on web gl. Also you are the first of over 300+ people to say it crashed! Sorry that happened for you. Any idea where it crashed? I'd recommend playing the download build if you get the chance. Either way thanks for giving it a try!

I really like the concept -  It hits too close to home.

Developer

True, especially since I recreated an old home I lived in haha. Thanks for playing!

Developer

I guess that means we did something right haha. Thanks for playing!

Why'd you make me have to walk under him!!!

Developer

Be honest, how long did it take you to gather the courage to do it? Thanks for playing to the end! It means a lot!

Developer

He just wants to watch you submit your game! lol Thanks for playing

Good ambience, definitely did not get any jumpscare. I like the attention to details to small things like switch can be interacted, and also the Easter eggs. Also, love the narrative that shown from your perspective.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Will look into that WebGL issue!

Developer

If you got held up by the TV you dont actually have to turn it off. Just walk near it until you seee the "Ahh brackeys love that guy" dialogue. Either way thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

I was scared

Developer(+1)

Good haha, thanks for playing!

Developer

Lol glad you were scared I guess? Thanks for playing!

Submitted

I was too busy writing code that I didn't turn off the TV and had a heart attack.

Submitted(+2)

Brooo, I played it... and the end was the best jumpscare and funny thing at the same time... Was that really Asbjorn (brackeys) himself? XD. So fun, game was really nice and interactive!!. All 5 stars for each aspect, I wish I could give 10/5 stars

Developer(+1)

Yes that was Brackeys himself haha. Even used his laugh during the game. Thanks for the kind words, and thank you for playing til the end!

Developer(+1)

That means a lot! So glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

To be honest I liked that you added personal information about the project in the intro of the game. You made a good atmosphere which was a bit spooky. Interaction options were nicely made and I enjoyed writting the code. Very interesting approach.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We certainly would have liked to add more interaction, but didn't have time to wonder too far from the story beats. For a nongame jam version we'll definitely have even more things. I think it's important to make a game world feel alive.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the small details, we thought about it a lot before implementing. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

This really made my heart go sky rocket, got jumpscared immediately in my first 5mins of gameplay! Great game though!

Developer

Glad we were able to do so much for you in just 5 minutes! Haha, thanks so much for playing!

Developer

Ha, guess we were doing something right then! Thanks so much for playing!

Fun to see another dev interpret the theme in a horror setting! Really liked the atmosphere and it was fun that you were allowed to explore the house before even entering the main game loop (i took a lap around the first thing I did). Very meta story that was far too relatable 😅If I were to add one thing: I would like to be able to close the fridge, it really bothered me.

Great job!

Developer(+1)

Ya know, I thought the same thing about the fridge haha. Couldn't honestly even tell you why we didn't do that. Thanks so much for the kind words and for playing the game!

Developer(+1)

I considered making the door closable, just never found the time I guess haha. Thanks so much for playing. I'll be sure to check out your horror game!

Submitted(+1)

Evil Brackeys makes a nice boss lol! I hope he plays it too. Perfect game for the jam! Amazing work!

Developer

He's just trying to make sure you submit your game on time hahaha. Thanks for playing!

Developer

Thanks! I appreciate it! Would be awesome if he ended up playing it!

Submitted(+2)

Great visual and audio!!

The game made my heart go fast!

Developer(+1)

Sounds like our plan worked haha. Was my first crack at the art style, glad we made it enjoyable for you!

Developer(+1)

Glad we got your blood pumping! Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Love the aesthetic of the game, I wet my pants in the first 3 minutes of the game having less than 24 hours until deadline.

Developer

The scariest part is reliving that crunch time haha. Thanks for playing!

Developer

Haha, glad you liked it! Now go change your pants!

Submitted(+2)

Wow that was really fun and truly a horror experience, both being stalked by the creepy Brackeys and having less than 24 hours to complete a game jam haha! Buff Brackeys will definitely haunt my nightmares! Great job with the game, I actually got scared a few times!

Developer

Haha, Buff Brackeys will protect you from the Evil Brackeys. Thank you for playing! It means a lot, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Developer

Haha glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing! We cracked up when we made buff brackeys

The game was actually really cool, I just wish I knew how to open a settings menu so adjust my sensitivity since it was really low on my laptop.

Developer

That's the first we heard of it. You were using touchpad? We actually increased sensitivity before release. Good thing because it sounds like you'd have been standing still haha

Submitted(+1)

Yeah I'm using a trackpad on a crappy laptop, but I figured any advice is better than none lol, the game seems like it would be cool with more concepts so best of luck!

Developer

If we pursue a full release we'll definitely have settings.

Developer(+1)

silly dev partner. We have a mouse sensitivity setting in the settings from the main menu

Developer(+1)

silly programmer, would be nice to have WHILE PLAYING SO YOU CAN TEST THE DIFFERENCE

Developer

if you click settings button on the main menu you can actually double your sensitivity! Hope that helps and I agree I tried to develop on my laptop for a day without a mouse and it was really low sensitivity. We will keep trackpad support in mind for release!

Very cool! Probably the most creative game I've played this jam so far. The ambience was top notch. It was legitimately creepy.

Developer

That means a lot! Thank you so much for playing!

Developer

Really appreciate that! That's a huge compliment! Thank you!

I really liked this, but I wish there was more content! I know you only had a week, but I would love to play a full version of the game.

Developer

We've already decided we will be doing a full release of it in the future! Be on the look out for Phantasms on steam! More episodes to come!

Developer

We're going to be working on it after the jam! We'll have something posted for it. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

freaky brackeys... I really liked playing the game lol, it was fun, I hated those jumpscares though haha, I just think it might be a little too dark and hard to see in some areas

Developer(+1)

Sorry about the darkness, next game we'll have a brightness slider. In the meantime, be sure to use the light switches!! Thanks for playing though! Glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback.

Developer(+1)

Much appreciated! Yea we think in teh future we will include a brightness slider!

Submitted(+2)

Great game the only thing I can say is that the cut scene at the beginning lasts way to long and there's no way to skip

Developer

Sorry about that intro! Thank you for playing, I at least hope you were able to enjoy the experience.

Developer

Definitely a lesson learned for next time. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Love the atmosphere and the meta-ness! Unfortunately, I got stuck pretty early and couldn't figure out what to do next.

Developer(+1)

There is a super spoiler thread on the Itch page if you'd like to give it another go. Either way, thanks for playing. Would you mind saying what you got stuck on? Perhaps we could have improved the design.

Submitted

I turned on the computer (and looked at the code), I picked up the dev fuel, I went outside, I checked out the cartridges, I explored the bathroom. Then I wasn't sure what to do next.

Developer

After picking up the can you are meant to go back to your desk and code

Developer

The dialogue throughout is what tells you what to do. Unfortunately it never comes back so if you miss it, it's gone.

Developer

Ahh sorry to hear you got stuck! Yea you just had to spam type out the code to complete the task and continue the story!
