pretty cool. cute little eyes. i liked it
I randomly stumbled upon this game by using Google Lens on a screenshot of one of my indie games and this game turned up. I'm not even a part of this jam but I gotta say, it was really fun playing this. Tentacles were awesome! Great work!
nice haha, thank you :)
HE'S ALIVE!
This is a really good start to something awesome! Expanding the mutations, meta progression, enemy types, and procedural layouts could make this into a really fun game to just kill some time with!
Also I like the way it looks. 5/5 on the art direction!
Thank you ^^
I will maybe continue to work on this game
I enjoyed playing your game.
What I liked:
- Visuals!
- Map design felt right
- Lighting! Nice one
What could be improved:
- Combat: the cooldown on the laser is to high. If you start with it alone you shoot. Wait 7 years and see your second kid graduate and when she has her kids you can fire the laser again. How about reducing the cooldown a lot and make the laser weaker? Limit it's range that way the player still has to come in close and personal.
- Tentacle: I liked it in the beginning. But later it is very hard to engage the enemy. You have the dash for that. Nevertheless I always took a lot of dmg when trying to get close. This could be maybe solved by giving some Iframes when using the dodge. Or changing the enemy variety to include more melee enemies and less ranged enemies. This way ranged enemies would become more of a priority target for the player.
- Acidpool: I found it's use very limited. The slime does not stay for very long. When fighting the enemies don't move that much, because I am circling trying not to get hit. For it to be useful I have to get close. Which as we covered before is rather hard.
- Upgrades: I would have liked to see more variety instead of only flat scaling. E.g. powerful laser that shoots for 3 seconds but has longer cooldown. Big tentacle with longer range, but afterwards it has to regen for longer?
Thank you very much!
Your suggestions are great and I will think of them if I maybe come back to continue developing this game :)
Carrion vibes for sure, but it still feels different enough and is very fun to play.
The monster animation indeed is delightful to watch and I like the upgrade variety. I do wish there was a little bit more balance with some of the upgrades as the eye beam didn't feel as useful as the tentacles for attacking.
Either way, great work!
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback <3.
What I'm definitely taking away from this game jam is that I have to let my games be playtested much more
It looks really good! The gameplay was nice even if it felt a little clunky, but overall I liked it!
Edit: sorry for the bugged repeated reply lol
Really liked how upgrades made you look cooler (MORE EYES!1!). Captivating gameplay. I don't know if I'm just clumsy but size upgrade felt useless - I would soak a lot more than 5 bullets. Tradeoffs in upgrades is an engaging idea, maybe its because all the other upgrades came with no tradeoff.
Good idea, I could definitely put more thought into that
Graphics and animation work was really well done! The mutation choice was also a nice touch. I thought the laser charge felt long, but after getting 5 eyes I could see why haha. Maybe a square aspect ratio would have worked better? Some enemies aggro'd offscreen, which was unexpected.
Thanks! Yeah, i tried that the enemies alert other enemies, but it didn't really work out how i intended hah
Carrion-roguelike very cool. Controls felt a bit laggy but loved the visuals
Thank you! Gotta try this Carrion game everyone talks about here, didn't even know about it xd
Carrion vibe. Game juice on point, I like the roguelike approach of the game. The ability description can be simpler I think (+25% size >> BIGGER!!) maybe. The pace of the game can be faster. Fun game!
Thanks, good advice!
The art looks beautiful and I love the abilities you gain. I do think the tentacle and eye attacks feel a bit clunky as you can't predict where they will land. Nice game overall though!
Thank you <3
Really cool! Reminds me a lot of Carrion, great visuals and progression, the tentacle hit feels a lit bit weird though!
Thanks! Yeah, I know, but the tentacles still took me so long :')
Well made, I enjoyed playing that! Nicely polished and just the right amount of challenge.
I would prefer if the eyes shot on the release of the button, so they could be timed better.
All-in-all, a great entry - good job!
Good idea, thank you
Your game is very cool! It's awesome that you can grow stronger and customize your character. The mutations is like a fun way to change up the look and gameplay.
Thank you
Very cool game, our games a a little similar, it was fun to become stronger and add different mutations to the slime that also changed the appearance to look more monstrous. Very aberrant i like it.
Thank you! I will definitely check out your game too :)
