The tongue grabbing was so fun! Unfortunately I couldn't reach the end of the game, as I got stuck on the side of an indestructible building

A very fun and wonderful little game! You play a big monster, climb things, sling around on your tongue, what’s not to like? My only complaint is that it’s very hard to get hit, so there’s not really any challenge. I had to deliberately try to take any damage and even then it was hard for things to hit you.
Awesome game! I see this was a huge team-work effort, I don’t know how you managed to coordinate :O Especially nice music, game-play, and introduction. The tongue mechanic was very fun, a little sad it doesn’t stick to the ground. I could also see the tongue-dot turn red when pointing at helicopters, so I though I could “eat” them this way, but it seems that it isn’t actually possible? (Or I need better reflexes)
I got slightly stuck in a building once, so I ended up destroying it (kaiju thinking). I also saw the percentage of destruction go into negative -2[a lot of numbers]% at the very end just before wining, probably a quirk of the implementation ;)
All in all well done all of you!
PS: Hehe, yes it was fun to click on the button
Tiny note: At the very beginning the kaiju kept moving on its own in random directions without me pressing the keyboard and I though I was going crazy. It took me ~5 minutes to understand that it was my touch pad that was triggering weird keys. I don’t know if it’s a Godot bug, or maybe just me (I seem to be the only one)? (Or maybe karma for not plugging in a mouse right away?)
Cool game! I liked the humor that you guys sprinkled in throughout the game, it made it have a lot of personality. Graphics were cool too! Gameplay was nice as well but I would have wanted a bit more depth to it, like maybe the climb or tounge mechanics could have been more essential to the game progression in a more linear level style game.
Art and graphics are fantastic! In-game tutorial and humor, are spot on! The concept... It's one of those ideas I'd come up with and then instantly throw into the bin marked "Too ambitious for a game jam". But you pulled it off! I loved playing this game. The intro was better than some commercial games I've seen and it set me up nicely for some rampaging. The feedback and impact could use a little juice. I hope this gets developed further :)
Wow! We appreciate your high praise! The first ting we told our developer after we wrapped the pitch meeting was "we have an impossible task for you!" But, your right! The team pulled it out, kudos to them! I've passed on your compliments to the rest of the dev team :)
Juice is tough! We were almost satisfied with how much we were able to squeeze out in 9 days! You can always get juicier though!
Great game, love being the monster and destroying the city. This is what it feels to be Godzilla. Only nitpick, I got stuck in the land at one point and had to restart. Again great submission, very impressive.
Sadly I was not able to play because my computer doesn't do vulkan rendering
Very nice! The graphics look great, and the destroying and grappling mechanics are fun to use. I think the game could be a bit more difficult, because enemies rarely manage to hit you. I'm not so sure if the ingame music fits entirely, but it does sound cool!
Also, whats up with the tank parade on top of the highest building? ;)
Thanks for trying our game! We are glad that you had a fun time using the grapple!
Unfortunately the enemies ended up being a late addition, which is why they are so lackluster. We spent a lot of time trying to get the destruction to a better state and had a couple dead ends in doing so.
As for those tanks? Well, gotta have something up there no? lol
Thanks again!
The "Back to (Slightly Different) Main Menu" moment got me cracking. It's so cool to have an opportunity to DESTROY stuff sometimes, thanks for that. And kudos to your sound guys, great job!
This is a fun concept and you guys put out a lot of assets in a short time. The details in the buildings, parks, etc. captured the scale really well.
I always get a kick out of a good destructible environment but I think the feedback from the destruction could have been pumped up a bit (particles, bits falling off) since everything is first-person (monster) immersive. i.e The claw swings seemed a bit disconnected from the damage they did or didn't cause.
The Japanese theming was fun and those still images were really great.
Thanks for trying our game and leaving a comment! I agree that we are very satisfied with how many things we were able to add to our world. Though I totally agree that there could be better feedback on hitting the buildings - this was a consistent challenge throughout production!
We're glad you enjoyed your time with our game!
Yeah I've found it's one of those things that you don't realize how tricky it is until you make it. I was in a group doing a mech game a while ago where I would have liked to capture the scale as well as you did here and then add sound, camera shake and dedicated animations to really show the melee hits and building destruction. It really made me appreciate professional first person games that manage to make impacts and melee combat work well.
This was super cool, I love the hand-drawn art! the tongue thing felt a bit strange visually but this was a good one, nice job.
And that "slightly different main menu" was worth it
Seriously awesome game! The visuals and audio were spot on, and while there wasn't a whole lot to do I had fun knocking stuff down. There were a couple of glitches with the static lighting on collapsible buildings and clipping through when grappling, but nothing game breaking and I never got stuck.
Tons of details really made it stand out, and my favorite part of the whole thing were the billboards scattered around. Super good work all of you!
