I lost track of time playing this, you’ve got a great formula here!

Developer

Thank youi!  I am going to update it tomorrow with a range of bug fixes, a teleport mutation, xp based on combat rather than distance, and faster movement.   Thanks for the review :)

Love the art style, the audio was great, and the gameplay was fun (though a touch confusing at first). Very fun!

Well done!

Developer

Thanks you :)

Very nice tutorial! I got to go back and forth to read what I wanted as many times as I wanted to :D

Took me a while to figure out how to shoot, but luckily for me I lost all my HP yet could still play hehe.

very cool weapons!

Developer

Thanks :)  Really please you enjoyed it :)

Very cool art style and the voice over in the beginning was awesome. Really fun game play and could see it being filled out in a lot of cool ways!

My one suggestion would be to make moving tiles a little faster. Maybe I wasn’t meant to be left alone for so long, but going through 3 or 4 tiles in a row feel slow.

Great job!

Developer

Hey thanks for the review.  My daughter will be very happy to hear you liked the voiceover.  I've started to fix some bugs and list some new mutation abilities like teleport,  aoe and erm... teleport and aoe... maybe some aoe... I need ideas :)

Submitted

A bit confusing at first but once I understood the basics it was a good  framework for a game. Did manage to land on the same tile as a spider and become unable to move ever again but otherwise it was enjoyable!

Developer

Thanks.  I'm pretty embarrassed over the number of bugs.  Some are down to godot 4 but some are definitely down to me.  I'm really grateful to hear of any bugs to help me improve this and other games.  Thanks :)

The art and animations are very well done. Shame you had issues with Godot 4. I made it to the end, but monsters stopped spawning around a certain point, and I couldn't die. Liked the look but the UI was popping in different texts quite a lot so I couldn't see much that was happening. The turn-based system and the way that you do attacks is interesting and unique.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :)

Hi there, I usually send this through Discord but you have not left a username here. I played your game on stream so you can watch the run with my feedback there at around 1:32:00

Had some issues with the UX but interesting mechanics and art direction. Thanks for making the game!

Developer

wow.  Watching you play gave me so much information.  Your commentary was brilliant!  Thank you so so much!  You really invested into playing it, and during such a long stream... You are dedicated!  I will follow you not because you featured my game but because I think I can learn about game making from you.  Thanks

Love the intro! I included it in my compilation video series for the Godot Wild Jam #56, if you’d like to check it out. :)

Developer

Thanks so much :)

Nooo, don't pull it from the jam! Your submission is in a playable state which is amazing, period.
You can also put a disclaimer for anyone trying your game.
I played it in Firefox and didn't experience any graphical bugs.

Developer

Thanks Proobly.  That's very kind.

I really liked the graphics! Are they procedural? Regardless they look great!
The concept of the game seems very fun! But atm it's pretty unbalanced haha. It'd be great if you gave more grace to the player to rest between fights instead of spawning enemies nonstop. Maybe even refresh cooldowns after combat.

It didn't seem like I could die so I was able to reach the end, haha. But one surefire strategy is to invest all in push upgrades and spam it on the last spider of a wave. It'll forever be pushed and no other spiders will spawn :^)

Developer

The tentacles are procedural. Nothing else. Thanks for the compliment 😀. A refresh after combat is a great shout.  Oh and a limit on push.. definitely.  Thanks.  Some real improvements for me to work on.  Love it ;)

Very pretty game. I ran into a couple bugs but the concept is very cool. It was a bit confusing what the attack movement and spawning patterns of the spiders was.

Submitted

This was cool! Although I didn't make it terribly far lol. I like that you can sort of plan out combos by attacking, then have the enemies walk into your other abilities. With some different enemy types and abilities this could be awesome.

One thing: When I ran the game in Chrome, the enemies appeared as large black rectangles until they switched to their "about to attack" sprite. Didn't happen when I used Edge, but it's something to be aware of as it was initially really confusing for me to tell what tile enemies were standing on (Probably an issue with Godot 4's web export and not your game if I had to guess).

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the feedback.  I really appreciate it.  I haven't seen those graphics glitches.  Totally sounds like a Godot 4/Itch.io issue.  We will be plagued with those for a while.  I had to fiddle quite a bit just to get it running and I still didn't get it a nice as I can with 3.5.  Ah well.  Again, thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted

No problem! Yeah Godot 4 still has some kinks to work out, specifically with exporting for the web, but I think long term it's going to be way more stable than 3.5 (To be fair though, I've always had issues running Godot games in Chrome. I think one of my extensions messes with them but I've never figured it out).

But now that I've used Godot 4's new tweeners and typed arrays, I don't know if I can go back lol.

Developer

On that note, I too love the new tweeners but I've learned to use them sparingly.  They are resource grabby!
