Lovely game idea! Very creative indeed.

Thank you so much!

I loved idea of this game. Good job!

by the way could you play and rate my game?

Developer

Thank you so much! And of course!

Cool idea! You created a quite readable iconography, so why not use that in the level itself? ;) Running around and attacking all this stuff was  fun, though avoiding swords ws probably the hardest thing, due to the fact that they stay in the ground for a while and have the largest hitbox :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah using the icons would have been smart, we were so rushed near the end, we had no brain power left to think of smart things like that.

Nice, I like how it's missions change how you approach the level. Good job!

Thank you so much! That's exactly what we were aiming for, glad you enjoyed it.

The game is really good) Every part of it ( Art/Sound design/Concept) are really good and it is so well-polished!

NIce job!

Thank you so much! :)

Awesome visuals, and the fortunes as well as the fact you have to avoid enemies at the same time as having another target keeps you on your toes. Good fun!

Good use of theme. Art and animation is fantastic. I wish the fortune showed faster so I could respawn faster. Everything else was great. Good job.

I loved the concept and the art style! Really interesting take on the theme with the fortune reading, I can see how that could be expanded a lot with more cards. I also appreciate that you have some "coyote time" grace period to be able to jump after you leave the ground, although the jump itself felt a little floaty. And I think fighting objects was a little confusing instead of fighting enemies and I sometimes lost track of what I had to do or what I was immune to, so maybe adding a constant reminder of that to the HUD next to your life could help make it clearer, though I know a lot of these things come down to lack of time for implementing, especially for such a short jam.

Anyway, very nice entry, good job!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! We felt that the on-screen text reminder of the instructions was too visually disruptive when placed on the top half, so we decided to put it in the bottom right. That being said, we definitely think that further brainstorming on how to more effectively visually and/or textually communicate which enemies to attack and which to avoid is needed. Your support and constructive criticism is much appreciated :)

Oh yeah, I was definitely thinking about some simple icons similar to those shown in the cards or something like that :)

This is certainly an interesting concept, and I found that it did a good job at integrating randomness without creating edge cases that are unreasonable or unfair for the player. Presentation is also great. I would have appreciated if the tarot reading was slightly quicker or could be skipped; I found myself antsy to get back into the game after my first round, and waiting was slightly painful.

Developer

A skip button for the tarot reading is definitely near the top of the "damn I wish we had more time to do this because it would have been great" list, lol. Thanks very much for your comment :)

As I saw on the game page that it is your first time at making game, I have to admit that it is a pretty nice game!

What I liked?

- The fortune mechanic where it changes each time the danger and challenges is a great idea!

- The art style is quite good, it reminds a little bit of 2D Castlevania

- The movement felt really responsive

Other comments:

- I found the jumps a bit stiff, the character fell a little too fast for my taste

Overall nice job!

Developer(+1)

Great eye--we actually used OG Castlevania tiling as a reference for our own. Thanks so much for your support and feedback!

Wow, some of the challenges are brutal!

The sound effects comboed with the music are very funny and charming. I think they really added a lot to the game and fit well with the art you made.

I like the idea and this is a great proof-of-concept. Would love to see some more variety between tasks in the future, but for 48 hours of work this is solid! Nice job!

I love the idea of this game that every challenge the player has to complete is randomized. This concept has a high replay value. I only had the problem once that the cup wasn't supposed to hit me, but then I died anyway. The UI and background also doesn't scale properly when playing in fullscreen mode. I still had a lot of fun playing this game. Great job.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeahhh we only realized AFTER the deadline that we set up the itch.io full-screen mode without properly setting up the Unity full-screen mode....it was a facepalm moment, but at least it's a learning experience lol. Thank you very much for your feedback!

Everything can be played with the keyboard except the menus. It is an unnecessary interruption to reach for the mouse. Otherwise it is a well thought out and good looking game.

Developer

Full keyboard capability (along with the option to use a controller) is definitely something we should implement in the future. We appreciate your feedback!

Good art and music, but just missing something to add impact for taking or dealing damage. Otherwise controls great!

Developer

We definitely agree! We had some animations and sfx lined up to give more oomph to taking/dealing damage, but along with so many other things, it just didn't make it across that deadline, haha. Thank you very much for your feedback :)

the presentation of this is great! I particularly liked the music very much, gives me bad nostalgia for playing old dos games like prince of persia. The controlls are a bit unpleasant though, however awesome  game, liked it!

Cool game! Unique idea from what I've seen so far! I think the game play could use some fleshing out if you continue development, but the overall concept is great!

Developer

Thank you for your comment! Will definitely be polishing a lot in the future :)

Really enjoyed this one! The aesthetic is great, and the controls feel good to control. I loved how varied the dodging became with all the varied enemies. The difficulty is very luck based, but that does go in line with the theme. I found the wands to be the hardest to dodge and hated it when you couldn't hurt them without hurting yourself. Very solid entry!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments! Balancing the difficulty was definitely something we would have liked to have more time with, and it's on the list.
