Really cool game! The pixelart is really cool and the sound effects are really good. Well done!

Submitted

I really wish there was an easy mode; I'm glad I made it to the boss at least once

Submitted

The gameplay is smooth! A scoring system will be great.

Developer

Thank you! You know what, a scoring system would be good.

Submitted

Presentation is really neat, although the shards being a slightly different pixel resolution than everything else is a bit odd. The gameplay of running around and shooting was a little repetitive, but other than that the dice mechanic was creative and fun, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The shard having a different resolution was the result of a bunch of panicking and my whole desktop being a cluttered mess. I couldn't really focus on making that perfect

Submitted

Haha, very understandable.

Fun game! I wasn't able to beat it this sitting, but this is one I'll come back to. The purple shard mechanics were pretty cool! Triple shot was particularly satisfying (but then I rolled it away)! Overall, great entry!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yup Triple shot is definitely fun but its always a gamble to roll the dice.

Submitted

That was really fun! I ended up going back for a few runs to see how powerful I could get. The concept of trading off small upgrades for a randomized permanent one was a really interesting take on the theme. One suggestion I might have is to have the enemies with projectiles telegraph their attack with a short animation first, instead of it just appearing out of it suddenly. Gives a little more time for reaction.

Developer

Thank you! Enemies being more clear on their intentions was definitely a mechanic that I overlooked

Mad fun! I liked the movement, shooting and the mechanic of upgrades and rolling the die. My only complaint would be the enemy bullets being hard to see on the background.

Developer

Thank you! Rolling the die was one of my favorite parts and the enemy bullets could have been a different color

Really liked this game! Addicting to play and very fun. I think some more juiciness could have improved the game's feel a bit, and only having one life was a little annoying. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks! I don't know what "juiciness" means but I the one shot one kill is definitely smth I overlooked

Really cool game! I love the effect of the shards combining to create a dice and the random buffs are a nice mechanic . Although, it was a bit hard sometimes with only one life as I would miss a red bullet on the screen or something and have to start over. Overall nice game though!

Developer

Thank you! The dice rolling/combining is definitely one of my favourite parts

I really like the concept here - super unique and feels super rewarding when playing. The presentation is great aswell - great job!

Developer

Thank you

I really like the mechanic of making your own dice and the one hit KO is a challenging idea too. However I got killed by a spider that spawned out of nowhere so I would suggest giving a player a way to know where the enemies would spawn or give them a breather.

Developer

Thanks! I thought I fixed the spawning but I guess there are still bugs to stomp out

Very cool game. Enjoyed it a lot. Your idea of 'building' your own luck reminds me of my entry in a way. GJ!

Developer

Thank you! I always liked being the master of my own fate in games.

It's a really fun game ! I love the progression mechanic, along with the difficulty slowly increasing, it really make you wanna rush for theses dice shards x) The bat scream that make you loose all of your shard is such a clever design idea too !

On the downside, I found the window a bit small, I'd with I could see further. Also, the bullet shooting enemy don't show any sign whatsoever that they are about to shoot (like a glowing red light on their head right before shooting). The bullet just spawn, rushing straight at you. It make it quite frustrating, because you can never ever be too close to them, they could spawn a bullet at any moment.

Overall I really enjoyed finishing this game, great work !

Developer

Thank you! Having a bigger window would definitely help. And a warning for the shooting enemies would help. I just tend to stay away from them but thats not the strategy for everyone.

I really like the idea of losing your temporary upgrades to randomly maybe get a good permanent one, but I feel like the abundance of blanks and which upgrades get put on that die already being random worked against it in some ways. I'm not entirely sure what the solution to that last one is because if you completely get to choose what goes on it then why not just always choose the one you want. Tying the win condition into the same die was  a great idea! Overall, this is a strong concept!

Developer

Thank you! You dont have to immediately roll the dice after getting 6 shards and farm for better shards. But then you risk getting more blanks. Oh the decisions....

Honestly this concept is quite underrated; the idea of building the dice before rolling it is really really cool and I had a lot of fun with it. Fits the theme very well! Also I loved that the tutorial was a poem lol.

I think giving the player 1 hp might be a bit too cruel for this kind of game lol. There were a few more things but all of them were stated in previous reviews, so I won't waste your time by repeating them. Overall pretty good little game!

Developer

Thank you! I love the idea of building your own dice. You have control over your own fate. My playtesters are pretty good at games so we didn't realise more health was necessary.

Really fun and unique game! The concept of building your own dice reminds me of the board game "dice forge" if you've ever heard of that. I wish there was a health system instead of dying instantly because it can get a little frustrating, but then again that's just the fun of the game. Very well made and polished entry!

Developer

Thank you! Building  your own dice was the main reason I went for this. My playtesters are pretty good gamers so we didnt realise more health was necessary.

I like this game, pretty fun. Two things: When using pre-existing art, try to use the same colour palette as it, the bullets feel out of place. The second is that when you roll the dice after getting the 6 upgrades, you already take a risk of losing these upgrades, so having another risk by it not working at all seems a bit harsh, but that is just my opinion.

Developer

Thank you! Art is always a problem when you gotta search the internet for them. I'll take care of that next time. You don't have to immediately roll after getting 6 shards. You could farm for more, better shards. But then there's the risk of getting even more blanks. Oh the choices....

Very nice and fast little game :) GJ!

wow good job on this game. my comp has a bit of issues with web games, but I can tell you put a lot of effort into this and it was well put together. fun!

Developer

Developer
