Love the art style. Thought the same as PaulPlay in regards to the cars. Would be cool if the bad guys made an attempt at killing the hostage, or if the characters moved around a little. Neat style, everyone likes it, I think you found something unique you do that people like

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Planning on updating it tomorrow with some of your suggestions!

Very nice game with a neat art direction, fun and juicy mechanics. My only criticism would be that the cars stick out a lot and I thought that they're obstalces (which would have been quite cool as well) so I always tried to not hit them. Keep up your good work and good luck for the jam!

Developer(+1)

I'm so sorry about the cars D:

I worried that they might be considered as obstacles so my instinct was to lower the opacity, looks like it wasn't enough thought haha.

Gotta figure out a way to make the cars stick out less!

Thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted

Either way a very cool game! You could also make the cars actual obstacles and stick out more, would be interesting as well ;)

Simple but well executed. I love the art style, I'm not sure it matches the genre of the game, but that's not a big issue.
Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words friend :D

Might have to consider changing the genre of the game to better suit it. What do you think might fit better?

Submitted

i love the paper art style and the general idea of the old school sniper type game, there were some randomized variations where i had no choice but to hit the contact haha

Developer(+1)

So sorry about those instances of having to murder a poor innocent contact D:

I'll be sure to fix the problem for tomorrow's update!

Thanks for the kind words about the art style :))

Surprisingly addictive game. I found myself playing over and over again. Good job!

Developer

Glad to hear it was addictive :D

I wanted people to try again and again to better their times! I hope the new content tomorrow will make you wanna play some more!

As mentioned by others very cool art style! But the mouse cursor is kinda hard to see. Other than that very cool!

Developer(+1)

Sorry about the cursor, I'll be fixing it for tomorrow!

Honestly the amount of people liking the art is making my heart hurt. It makes me so happy to hear something I was so insecure about is appreciated by so many! :D

I'm really impressed by how well this game was put together, a simple game with a simple art style to back it up.

Developer

Thanks friend :D

First off, I'm so impressed by the art style of this game. The pencil look is so innovative and creative, well done. The gameplay is simple and really solid, I love this game.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words friend! Means so much to me to hear you liked it :)

The aesthetics are so nice, especially with the sound design that compliments it. I am not sure how it relates to the theme that well though. I had a issue seeing the cursor and some cars passing by, maybe a stronger contrast could have done the trick (like darker lines perhaps). And there are few runs where I had the contact sitting in front of the targets. I cannot bend the bullet so those runs are runs that lost is guaranteed. Still was a cute nice experience. Congrats!!

Developer(+1)

Sorry about the issues you encountered D: I'll be fixing them in tomorrow's update!

I'd appreciate it if you would take the time to try it out once more when its done.

Means a lot to me that you liked the art and sounds :D

Really love the hand-drawn pencil art style, and sniper targeting games are some of my favorite! The two things I think you could have done better would have to be to make the cursor a little more visible and then have the enemies walk around, but other than that great job!

Developer(+1)

Planning on having the cursor fixed and hopefully adding in some new mechanics for tomorrow's update!

Thanks for the feedback :)

Hardly anyone ever dares to try an art style this different, but it looks great and feels very authentic. Definitely worth exploring further and experimenting with more genres. Keep up the good work!

Developer

It means so much to me that you liked the style :')

Thank you friend for the kind words!

Really enjoyed the art style and audio.

Wish there were more levels, a greater indication of points of interest - I didn't notice the top left telling me what not to kill until 3 failures, I also didn't see the menu at the bottom very well when I pass the level or fail it.

Also, not sure of the connection to theme - but other than that it was enjoyable :)

Developer(+1)

Definitely need to fix the UI, thanks for the feedback! Gotta figure out how to make everything look like it blends together but still catch the player's eye.

As for the theme connection, I interpreted "connection" as a business connection, someone you know who can assist you. In this case that someone is an informant in a criminal organization.

Thanks for the feedback friend :)

You are very welcome! :)

Looks awesome! I had a bit of a hard time seeing the cursor sometimes though.

Developer

Sorry about the cursor! Getting that fixed ASAP!

Thanks for trying my game :)

Lol, I don't know how you created a  game with just paper drawings. but it's awesome. Great game

Developer(+1)

Roughly 2 hours of drawing and redrawing sprites and then 6 hours of taking countless pictures and messing about in photoshop to try and get them to all blend together seamlessly.

It was a lot of work but I'm glad to see people liked it :)

Submitted

That's great bro. Please make sure to review my game too.

Developer(+1)

Will do ASAP!

I think this game is really well made and good looking! I love the paper drawn style, and I really like the detail of having all of the sound effects sound like they were made with paper being crumpled up as well!

Couple of things though.

- It's a little weird that once you've completed a level, you either have to restart or go to the main menu and start again, there's no additional levels or anything, it's all randomly generated. I assume it's because it took a long time to get this as clean as it is, but still felt it was worth mentioning.

- As someone else mentioned, I can't tell if the cars are supposed to be an obstacle or not. I thought they were, until a shot went through one and didn't stop. Honestly, I think it could be more interesting if there was a time limit, and/or the cars were an obstacle.

- I'm not totally sure how this connects to the theme, to be honest.

All that aside, this is a fantastic game! Not going to lie, I kind of hope you continue developing the idea, I'd love to play more!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for starting with the positives! Means a lot you liked the art!

I really appreciate the feedback you've given and I am happy to say that all if not most of it will be fixed in tomorrow's update :)

If you get a chance I'd love to hear your thoughts on it when it goes live!

As for the theme connection, I interpreted "connection" as a business connection who assists you in some way. I followed this train of thought until I reached the idea of an informant in a criminal organization!

Love the graphics!  Did you actually draw them on paper?  Everything came together really nicely, not sure how you animated everything, but it all worked out fine!  Feels just like if the drawings were actually moving on the paper in real life and the whole game was just you recording it.  I also liked the randomness of the levels to keep them interesting, with the varying positions of everyone as well as the individual you had to protect.  It was a bit disappointing when the last enemy was behind the person I had to save and couldn't do anything about it, but other than that, I really liked the game!  Well done.

Developer

Glad you liked the art :D

Yes, everything was drawn in my sketchbook, photographed, and then masked out in Photoshop. Not the best artist, or photographer, or good with Photoshop, so this all took me quite a while as I had to manage the lighting, making sure the lines were dark enough to be visible, and also learn how on earth to cut out a section of an image in Photoshop.

I'm so sorry you ran into issues with the contact spawning in front of an enemy! I hope to fix this in tomorrow's update :)

Feel like a sniper

Developer

Indeed!

I also like the hand-drawn style, and the SFX fits well.  The cursor was incredibly hard to see though, which made the game difficult for me.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!

So sorry about the cursor, gonna get that fixed for tomorrow's update!

Submitted

As many others had said, the hand drawn style looks really good. Not sure if the cars are suppose to be an obstacle or not, but I keep shooting thru the cars. Would make the game more challenging if there are bullet counts, obstacles that block the gunfire and contract or enemies that move around.

Developer

It makes me so happy to hear you liked the art! Means a lot! :D

So sorry about the cars, they were not intended to be an obstacle but I am considering making them one in tomorrow's update or making it more clear to the player that they are not an obstacle.

Submitted

I got 2.24s and now I'm happy. Really cool game though. Keep it up!

Developer

Congratulations good sir but I am sorry to say someone has you beat D:
