I have the same complaints as others, it was easy to get too close to pit, pushing stones was iffy, key bindings were funny, but honestly those feel pretty minor to me and I super like this game. Awesome touch making the music alternate between minor and major keys when activating the heart.

As with lots of others, I found the key mapping a little troublesome. Really liked the world switching mechanic, and would have loved to see more different puzzles explored.

The main concept (2 worlds, switching between them) is interesting, although not fully explored. My favourite room was the one with 2 horizontal pits, and crystal obstacles; requiring the player to switch back and forth to advance. This highlighted a problem though; since the game requires switching back and forth between dimensions, there's no way to tell if you're a pixel out of range, before you switch.
This could be remedied by making the game grid-based, or by giving the player more landmarks to mentally chart where obstacles are.
The controls were quite awkwardly mapped, and more than once I found myself losing health due to grazing a pit edge.
With the fast acceleration of the character, it didn't feel too good to navigate. (Such as the blocks that the Player can move very quickly).
I was also unsure of how the "heart" theme tied into the mechanics.
Regardless, I think further exploring the "switching between dimensions" idea might prove fruitful, if you were to think of how it can engage the player more. This is the most interesting part of the game, and could be built upon. Good job on this.

The game is good looking - thats fo sure. Sound, visual, narrative touch.

I was unable to go more then to the second room =D didn't got the idea what I should do. Tryed stepping on the floor pads. Tried the leever. But... That was the end of my interest and I finished there, sorry.

Hey BlackCheshir,

Seems like you took as long to write your comment as you did playing the game 🤣

You should go to the next room, and solve the puzzle by making sure all pressure plates are pressed and the lever is pulled. After that, you can beat some monkeys to a bloody pulp, and get the mechanic we built our game around. I do hope you give it another shot!

Nice art and music! The dual-world gameplay was quite fun, but I think it could have been explored further. I like that you incorporated it into the boss fight, though. And the opening/closing poems are cute. :)

One last point is that the control mappings are a little odd. I'm not used to having the controls be on E, F and H - some rebindable keys wouldn't have gone amiss.

Puzzles were fun to do. The art of the game gave it a pleasing vibe.

this was a great game! love the puzzles, the music fit in, all great work

A cool game ! The heart mechanic to switch the level works really well :)

Maybe the combat could be a bit more juicy and fast-paced, but this is still a puzzle game in the end!

Good job on the game, I had a blast ! :)

Fun game! Reminds me of zelda a link to the past. Music, voice acting, puzzles and art are all on point. That axe feels like it has some weight to it! Great work, really enjoyed playing.

The only issue I encountered was when I pushed a block against the wall and couldn't get it off lol. But that's on me I suppose.

Pretty good game, I didn't encounter any bugs or anything, which was really nice. The art was cute, and the heart switching mechanic was cool. Great job!

Developer

You should be able to respawn the block to its initial position when you exit and enter the room :)

Physics were doing some strange things at some points :)

Thanks for playing!

  • Sexy audio? Check.
  • Reckless woodwork? Check.
  • Heavy metal? Check.

What a nice journey you took me through. The puzzles were great, the final boss was challenging, the story was engaging. Played it twice to see how fast I could beat it: 4 minutes 7 seconds.

Awesome, I didn't expect that power-up, great idea!

Blocks would sometimes move in unexpected directions, but I managed to push them where needed :)

Art is beutiful, especially after getting heart. Tinman animations look great. Great intro and outro story too :)

Quite fun! The music fit the feel of the game well. I went into this game totally blind and having two worlds in one was a nice surprise. Overall a bit easy but I can see how there is potential for complex puzzles / challenging fights utilising the heart mechanic. Overall I liked how everything fit together quite well - that can be difficult to get right imo

usually you need glasses to see the emerald city.. but in this case... an heart!

Great!

Pretty nice mini zelda like ^^ and cool use of the theme by making it with the wizzard of oz's tin man.

I liked the dimention shifting with the heart mechanic and there's some clever use of it for puzzles. Aestetic is good and i like the fact that you made the flying monkeys as enemies, the music is nice as well and having it switch as well when you change dimentions is a nice touch, also voiceacting was a nice surprise, generally don't expect it in jam games :p

Some small issues i had, the axe's range seems a bit unclear, it would help to have like a slash zone or something drawn to help estimate range, and button mapping, not a big issue overall but when you have to quickly shift during the boss, it can be hard to have a layout where buttons are not close to each other.

Other than this it its good, had fun and managed to reach the end !

Congrats to the team :)

Cool game! Great work. Really enjoyed the heart mechanic.

And no gnomes were hurt during its creation ;)

I would've liked to go deeper into the heart mechanics, but my brain was toast after programming :'(

Phew! I'm glad you said it, that was actually the biggest concern on my mind.

Totally get that! At least now you have room for expansion if you want to go back to it :)

Fun little game, nicely done guys! I died once at the end and had to start over. But oh well, my own fault lol. Gets a bit hectic during those last few moments. xD

Solid work!
