In what way does your game fit the theme?
Warty and Weevil, the two characters in our game work together to get Weevil up into the skies. Besides this we initially wanted the theme to also reflect on the fact that you build a large tower which you can solidify with your power-up, making it stronger in the process.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
The programmer used Brackey's 2d character controller tutorial but besides that all the code is made by ourselves from scratch.

The art is all custom made from scratch by the artist for this project.

Interesting concept, really fits the theme! Maybe something for a tutorial at the start.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And yea, a little tutorial addition might be nice if we decide to further work on it!

Great game! Awesome replayability, but it's really difficult haha. Overall great work! I'd love if you tried my game as well (:

Great work implementing a tetris mechanic into this, love the art also! :)

The game has really nice art! Definitely nice to look at, I especially liked the intro cutscene. The player movement felt pretty nice too, didn't feel too floaty in my opinion. I have one thing to say though

-The blocks fall waay too slowly, half the time, the block wouldn't even be useful. Maybe they could've fallen a bit faster or maybe started off falling quickly and decelerating as it went down

-I know I said the player movement was good, but for a game like this, being able to hold down space to jump a little higher would be pretty cool

Overall, neat game! Definitely reminded me of Tetris. The best part of it was definitely the art, very nice and calming colours.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Appreciated! You can press arrow key down to let the blocks fall faster!

Beautiful art, really fun twist on the tetris formula. Loved this.

I'd appreciate you checking out my game as well.

Amazing pixel art! The palettes are so nice and the character designs are great too ! The gameplay is also fun and unique too, it's a fun take on Tetris! If I had any suggestions it would be to add some coyote time to the green frog's jumps, because it can sometimes feel unresponsive especially since everything n the game is a physics object.

Absolutly love the pixel art in this game, the gameplay is great too, well polished and overall just a good time, great job you guys!

Super Cute! Great work :D

Great take on classic tetris.

This game is just awesome. The graphics are beautiful (I LOVE PIXELART), gameplay is very fun, and I encountered no bugs. It is quite hard when I played it alone, but later I played it with my brother (I controlled the character, and my brother took care of blocks) and it was great experience to cooperate that way. I would appreciate if you check out my game too! Bonus screenshot: at that moment I knew I screwed up

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it! Will check it out in a bit!

Umm, is there actually an end? I think I'm gonna stop playing now though...

Developer(+1)

Damn we've never seen such a stable building. It didnt even shake when you put on the tower, very impressive.

The tower is kind of a 'soft end' right now, but we kept the blocks going for the real hardcore players. But yea, reaching 50 meters is the main goal for the version in the Gamejam!

Developer

To progress after the tower you could have it intentionally fall horizontaly, save your solidify and then use it once its fully horizontal, essentially creating a big new build space area.

We just thought of this, but it sounds nearly impossible :P

Awesome art! Very eye pleasing color palette too. Music was fine and funky too but was kinda begging for sound effects.

So the heart system was kinda confusing at start. I wasn't sure why I was losing them and thought at some point you might just be losing them on time. Took me quite a while and a sudden death from full health to finally understand what was going on. The problem here really is mostly that you do not see down far enough and can just suddenly die without seeing any reason for it.

It's a big too reliant on RNG. Sometimes you get more than you really need but more often than not you don't get anything when you really need it.

I'm still also quite confused about the green box power up things. It wasn't clear at all what I got from em at any time. Obviously I was always rooting for the solidifying thing to fill but more often than not it was just some pointless propeller hat which served like no purpose at all really.

I felt like it was a bit too easy to get stuck. And you usually are either totally screwed or have to mess up your whole structure to try to dislodge the pieces blocking you.

Blocks were a bit too bouncy and hard to predict and they were brutal at kicking the poor frog around and usually ending up getting them stuck. Even trying to fit together two pieces that look like they're made for each other sometimes ends up in a huge mess and the new piece suddenly flipping 90 degrees. This happens especially often if the piece underneath isn't like 101% level.

The frog controls were mostly fine but there was some issue with the ground detection which rules whether the frog can jump or not. It was way too strict not letting you jump well on slanted surfaces and especially from corners of like 45 rotated blocks. And quite often these single missed jumps can mess up the whole run.

This following series of images sums it up kinda perfectly...

Yes, going smoothly. Keeping stuff wide and everything is still level.

Oh no, some bad pieces incoming. Stuff will be less stable soon.

Ok I think I stabilized it, right? No! Without even landing a single piece to it, everything started to rumble and jitter around and obviously end in the whole thing crumbling down like a house of cards on a tornado.

I think it really comes down to the physics engine. It just can't really handle big piles of objects too well. You'd need to manually figure out some objects in the base of the structure and automatically lock them (just like that solidify functionality). Also adding new objects to a high pile feels like they come down with the force of thousand suns and make the whole stack that you could have packed in super tightly too spring up and down like crazy.

Anyways, I liked it a lot, very nice idea! Good job 👍

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for your elaborate feedback!

- Yea there might be a bug where you can still get the propellor after you already obtained it. We saw this later!

- You can actually press R to sacrifice 2 life and respawn yourself!

- Yep, the stabilizing part is a big physics thing. Its hard to stabilize when things get wonky. Here you can partly use the solidify power-up to make a little wall for example that holds your tower somewhat together. Still you are very right on this and its probably the biggest issue. Alot of tweaking with the gravity + mass of the blocks in Unity might help this issue if we continue with the game. Theres definitely alot to improve on and add content.

Thanks again for your feedback, we do really appreciate it, and thanks for playing!

Love the graphics! Amazing work there. Very interesting mechanics and use of physics.
Great work! Congratulations!

Thanks! Appreciated

The graphics were soooo different!!!! And I loved it!!! The concept was really cool! Great game overall!!

Submitted(+1)

graphics were awesome, music and sound effects were great. It reminds me of Tricky Towers but in a different way. overall I enjoyed it :) good job

Thanks!!

Ahh, it's too cute! I'm a massive fan of your art (I used one of your packs in my game for this jam) so obviously I think the visuals are adorable. But I think I've discovered that I am terrible at Tetris😂

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Appreciated. And thanks for using my pack, Im going to check out your game in a bit!

Submitted(+1)

The pixel art used in the game is amazing! In addition I like the Tetris styled gameplay with the floppy physics.

Developer

Thanks alot!

Submitted(+1)

The art of the game is gorgeous, I really like it!

The concept of the game is very good, and fun at first.

The only con I see is that It miss some enemy or something because when you play for a while, It starts to feel repetitive. Maybe I didn't get too high.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yep we are thinking about thing as we might continue with the game. Valid point!

Submitted(+1)

The art in this game is amazing! The croak in the music is a really nice detail and I like that tetris vibes this game gives. I would have liked to be able to rotate the pieces but apart from that everything is 10/10

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!! We thought about rotating but that might be something for later!
