In what way does your game fit the theme?
Your missions is to REWIND time by getting to the Black Holes. Your goal is to go back 4 years and close the first Block Hole. If you can do this, the Earth will be saved.
(Also, I used some VHS rewind SFX/Music.)

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Some basic code I used from previous games/tutorials (audio manager/UI etc.) 50% or more brand new code. All sprite art was made during the week. (I didn't have much time in Unity, but was able to make a lot of pixel art at work)

I loved the background art! This was a fun SHMUP! I really liked the design of the Queen's boss battle.

And as a little bit of constructive feedback:

I think a little bit of weight(whether it is audio, screens hake, damage flashes) to bullet impacts (both when the player and enemies receive damage) could go a long way in making the game feel even better.

5 STARS IN ALL!

Fun classic space shooter, had great audio and great graphics, although I wish there was some sort of impact effects because when enemies shot me I didn't even notice :/ Would also be pretty cool if there actually was some sort of rewind mechanic in place in the game and not only be story-wise. Anyways good job on this game! Just wish it was a little bit longer (2-3 levels more maybe) and with some more enemy variety! All around great game

The game may be a little short, but it's really fun to play and really well made. I find that the artwork perfectly suited for this game. The difficulty is very low, with an health bar, a shield ad 3 lives, but I guess you have a highscore system just for this reason. The theme isn't integrated in the gameplay, but in the story, and for me it's just as valid. Adding some more shooting power-up could greatly improve the experience and the fun

Developer

Thanks for playing and the awesome comment!  I knew I had to keep the coding simple cuz I was busy with work that week haha.  Some more powerful weapon power ups are definitely needed! Thanks again~

Loved the game! Everything feels so good, the art, the music and the playthough.

Only thing is that the player can just stay at the bottom of the screen until the boss arrives. Of course you don't get much of a highscore tho!

Very good game and definitely a good rating. When you have the time please rate my game as well, I would really appreciate it :)

Developer

Thanks for playing~ I need to add some edge enemies and better weapons for sure XD

The gameplay is really well done, and the art is great as well. However story does not fit the theme that well.

Developer

Yeah I knew I didn't have much time for coding so I focused more on art.  The story is you rewind time XD

very few games which i stick till the end. space impact-like games, no complaints in any aspect, great game! just one thing is the mouse movement is not really needed so any button will suffice for shooting.

Developer

Thanks a bunch for playing until the end! I wish I had time to make more weapon power ups so it would be a bit more interesting XD Thanks again!

Loved the art, the sound was perfect for the game and the paralax and particle effects were all a good touch!

Please play and rate my game as well

Nice little game. I like the art. However, the story makes no sense to me. Were the buildings getting destroyed over years? Doesn't make much sense. Also, gameplay wise, I think there could have been more weapons/enemies, this kind of stuff.
Overall, cool game.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I was going for a corny anime-like no sense story haha.  I mostly just wanted to show the rewinding of time though the changing backgrounds and buildings (since I had no time to think of how to code a mechanic haha).

This game felt very polished. It's got a complete story and fun gameplay. The enemies felt very hard to kill, but didn't pose much of a threat, so I just ended up dodging most of them. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing!! My biggest regret is giving the enemies too much health haha, I think it would be more fun if they were destroyed easier XD Thanks again!

The graphics are fantastic, and the story and gameplay is great!

Thanks for playing :D

Cool little story where the rewind theme makes sense. I always appreciate games with endings, feels nice to be able to complete a game. It's solid and fun, but maybe make the enemy bullets more life threatening for players looking for challenge. Overall, good work! Keep it up! 👏

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you made it to the end~ my goal was to have people finish quickly and easily haha.  Thanks again :D

I like your approach to theme.  You've implemented it not in mechanics, but in story itself, it's very creative. The game is fun and stylish and the story took me to the end. Great job!

Developer

I'm glad you made it to the end! Thanks a lot for playing :D

Ok, i promise you some feedback, and here it is: (Sorry for being late but this days i have some problem with the router)

  • Basically i don't have many problem with the game, the art and music are very cool, the gameplay has some flaws imo, but it's fun, the experience is a little bit short maybe and the game polish (which is already great to begin with, btw) could've been better with some more time, but with the little time that you had it's more than understandable... Ok, actual feedback this time:
  • The jam theme, beside the story isn't much prevalent in your game, but like i said before, it's understandble with the little time you had...
  • The cursor is shaped like a "sight", like the one in the old console game where you had to point a gun controller to the tv, but when you shoot the ship shoots forward. What is the purpose of that feedback, if it even has one???
  • 3 life, + the shield??? Ok, i get it, you basically don't want me to die... 🤣
  • If playing in a cautios/defensive way, the game it's too easy, especially with the problem above
  • Talking about the player playstyle, the game dosen't encourage well enough to play in a more risky way (a.k.a. shooting at the enemy), other than a score...
  • If the score is the central focus of your game (wich i think it is), make it bigger and more visible
  • The speed powerup isn't really a powerup, than a hidden enemy... Most of the time i'll tend to avoid it because of that
  • The shield powerup and the double shoot powerup are barely reconizble from one another... Not that it matter that much, but... (at first when i get the double shoot one i tought i was collecting the shield one, and expected some shield... 😅)
  • Also, talking about power up, give more feedback like a text over the ship that said "SHIELD-UP", more satisfying and the power up feels more important that way...
  • The boss is easy to dodge... In fact, you don't have to dodge, at all... The rush attach can be doge just by being far away enough and the projectle it shoots they are barely a problem...
  • Why it goes in the final black hole at the end, can't he just shoot it and destroy from the outside??? And what happened to the black holes in the future?? Give mi more story, I'm thirsty for it...
  • I see what you did at the end... Luckly for you, i was already subsribed to begin with... 😉

Ohhh~~ Thank you again for the super awesome and wonderful feedback!  I copied and pasted it into my notes as usual :D  Getting people to the end was the plan hehehe XD

Very well made! I loved the art, both from the pixelart, as well as the effects you used in Unity. Everything was great, the only thing I missed was the sound effect for when you hit an enemy. Great job!

Developer

Thanks a bunch for playing~! oddly there is a sound effect but it doesn't play in WebGL but plays in Unity Play mode no problem haha //shrug haha
